Great game

spicedfudge 2024-10-07 22:56

It's a really cool idea. Adding an extra layer to a tile puzzle game where you essentially play as 2 different characters is interesting. Unfortunately, I ran into a lot of bugs like not being able to pick up the key, the controls changing for refreshing the page, and skipping the platforming section of the level unintentionally. I would play a complete and polished version of this.

panicmore 2024-10-07 23:01

really lovely art and cute idea - but I ran into a few problems with the display. I was confused as to what I was supposed to do until I realised I could only see half the scene even in fullscreenScreenshot 2024-10-08 at 00.00.05.png

tori 2024-10-07 23:03

Hiii people, thanks a lot for the feedback, we ran into a few problem with the panic-build at the end of the submit time, sorry about that, we'll try to make a postjam version in the next few day/week Please ignore the display bug if you can haha, the plateformer screen are big tile (so square) it's normal, but you unfortunatly see the previous screen in the background, you should still be able to finish the level

tori 2024-10-07 23:31

@alyxx116 @panicmore @spicedfudge game is fixed, only 3 levels but it work :), thanks so much again for the feedback enjoy the voting period, hope you get plenty of players ♥

axodo 2024-10-07 23:34

Fixed most of the issues. For those wondering, it is intended to have only a square view on the platformers sections, but with we ran out of time before we could actually make that look nice, so the other half of the screen seems buggy. Sorry about that =(

u119 2024-10-07 23:57

Despite all of the bugs I see the vision and it was very adorable watching Micro bounce around. I repeatedly pressed enter and the map slowly shifted until I couldn't tell where I was supposed to go :c

brainh 2024-10-07 23:58

Amazing! The art is stunning, and I like the innovation of combining the two forms of gameplay. I think the platforming could be a little tighter, as I find the player visually going kinda far into platforms instead of colliding tightly. I'm a huge fan of the third level with the spikes

sheepolution 2024-10-08 00:20

It's definitely not polished, but I'll try to look past that. It's quite simple, but it looks cute. I think the animations of the bird are really nice. The pencil-lines work really well! It's unfortunate that you have time constraints, because there is an interesting game to be made here with multiple type of tiles, and maybe even as the player geting to decide what tile to use and in what order. Good job regardless!

PS: There is a bug when you press enter multiple times.

megurt 2024-10-08 00:42

Sooo cute visuals, I like it a lot!!

axodo 2024-10-08 09:59

> maybe even as the player geting to decide what tile to use and in what order

Yeah, that was totally what we aimed for. We level designed some more levels, the last one having 13 tiles, and multiple solutions, for or less difficults. Unfortunately, we aimed for too big, and didn't have time to implement them.

But thanks for the feedback you all :)

dahliainosensu 2024-10-08 16:42

Very cosy and cute! Great animations!

sofimei 2024-10-08 19:28

Hello! Congratulations on submitting something that we can play even if its smaller than you hoped! The result is really cute and fun, i found the tile puzzle was implemented nicely, and being able to play IN the puzzle was a fun surprise~ the art style with the pencil stroked is really pretty and love the squishy bird haha.

I loved the audio as well! Very cute chill music. I liked that there was little sounds in the puzzle, the little bird peeps, and the dying noise was pretty funny too haha.

Overall its a fun base and i played to the end! The last level was fun but challenging, I almost got stuck, but really wanted to finish the game. It has potential and would love to see the other levels!

designernap 2024-10-08 20:44

This is lovely! Great multi stage mechanic, great visuals and really nice implementation. very nice work

gudkova-ds 2024-10-08 21:03

очень приятный дизайн, но столкнулась с проблемой в начале игры что готовое решение загадки принимается очень долго, либо вообще не могу пройти на другой уровень. кажется я глупая для таких игр(

omi-kun 2024-10-08 22:49

It looks so cute and great aesthetic! I have no idea how to play though. I can move the tiles and round and seemed to have formed a route but then what? It doesn't progress :(

cpaz 2024-10-09 01:31

Wonderfully charming aesthetics and soothing music! Very interesting mechanic that was leveraged well too! Doing two games in one is ambitious haha

axodo 2024-10-09 10:40

@omi-kun you can press enter to proceed. I didn't realize we didn't put anything ingame to tell you this, sorry! >.>

firefalls 2024-10-09 16:13

This was a cool game! Swapping between gameplay was a cool idea. The platforming parts were misaligned on my screen with where the character was landing - might be a bug or just a resolution thing. Regardless, great work!

daria-toni 2024-10-09 21:40

I think the concept of the game is very good, but I encountered bugs during the play. But that's normal for a jam! First of all, I want to note the art style, I was glad to read that you used physical drawings for the design of the game. I also like the cute sounds. Tbh, I would really love to see the final version of this game.

whalejam 2024-10-09 21:51

Super cute! I love the little squish when you jump and land! Moving the tiles is really cool too, but it would be nice if I could swap stuff without putting it down. Obviously thats just polish though, so for whats here from the jam, this is really nice ^^

bumble 2024-10-10 09:45

This two step process of first building a path and then trying to go through it both ways is actually pretty neat!

Apart from a little bit of physics jankyness and that you apparently ran out of time I think this is a solid entry into the jam and I had fun. I can definitely see how this can be build upon and polished! :grinning:

shirac 2024-10-10 10:42

Cool game! It's fun to play and made me want to try more levels. I really like the artwork and would have liked to see macro in the game A negative point is that the collisions are misleading, even if you get used to them. More interactions between the two gameplays could also be great to highlight their specificity, such as being able to switch between micro and macro more dynamically. (just an idea ^^)

Congrats!

lerkadverka 2024-10-10 20:41

Скриншот 10-10-2024 233636.jpg by clicking on enter, I broke everything : (((( You have a wonderful game, if not for some mistakes, I would like to stick to it for a very long time) And animation is a separate delight! And the gameplay really surprised me, I haven't seen anything like this on this site yet

pacelin 2024-10-10 20:48

This is a super game! The idea is very unusual and addictive. The sound is quite balanced, which is rarely seen on a jam, but I would still make it a little quieter. I like everything about the idea, it wouldn't be enough for a regular platformer, but considering the idea, everything turned out very cool. I would like to see the ultimate goal of the game in the future. The art is cute, I would like it to be more holistic (so that there is no square on top of the screen with tiles), but again the game is worthy of high praise)

simc 2024-10-10 21:30

Good game overall, really liked the moment i found that the tiles would be platformer's sequences. ^^

vector3cat 2024-10-10 21:54

such a cute and nice game! really enjoyed it and loved the art!

as other comments have mentioned, the only problem with it was the camera as it covered only half of the screen and pressing L didnt do anything, for me at least...

i also wished to see macro in the game but it seems like you didnt get the time to add them in the game...

such an awesome game!

euler-moises 2024-10-11 12:00

A very simple game. The idea of setting up the scenario is really cool. Sad that it's so short. With a little more polish it would be a great game.

Congratulations!

axodo 2024-10-11 13:16

@vector3cat Yeah, the camera only covering half of the screen during micro time is because we ran out of time (for some reason we got the deadline wrong, we thought we had 3 more hours, lol). The L button is for when a specific bug happens, scrolling the camera twice instead of once when you go into a transition. I couldn't fix it as I couldn't reproduce it consistently, so in case that happens, I left a button to make the camera go where it's supposed to :)

axodo 2024-10-11 13:18

By the way, thanks for all your feedback! I was pretty bummed at submission time because we didn't have time to polish at all, but seeing that you still enjoy the game and see its potential really cheers me up :)

We agreed with the other members that we'll do a post jam version, so stay tuned :)

iolis-lui 2024-10-12 09:48

I broke the game a couple of times, I think you know your bugs))

But what a cool idea it is!!! The main thing is that the game conveys the idea.

I admire the fact that first we build a "level" in a puzzle piece, and then we pass it!!!

cam-moore 2024-10-12 15:56

Comforting mood. I like the art style of the puzzle almost like children's book style like something from Winnie the Pooh. Music was calming as well:)

indie-game-academy 2024-10-12 20:21

Really beautiful vibes and a fun game idea! It was easy to fall in love with this world, despite it being a pretty small game. I think the core appeal of the game is the mystery and fun of connecting the tile map to the platforming level design and in my opinion that could be amplified quite a bit. For instance, the intuitive connection between a top down map and a 2D view of platforming is difficult to comprehend. Maybe the tiles aren't meant to look like a top down map, but that was the impression I got. Additionally, it feels like it might be more interesting to be able to get the tile map wrong somehow and then try to overcome it with platforming or something. Something that complicates the relationship between the two in a rewarding way. Lastly, the promise of a lava tile map piece feels like it has to then be rewarded by the platforming reflecting that. Overall, it's such an enchanting idea with so much space to explore! I hope you guys keep developing this beautiful idea.

wakobu 2024-10-13 06:40

Very good graphics. The controls are a bit frustrating, and I think you should write somewhere that you should actually hit Enter to start playing. The game would benefit from a little more polish, especially about the layout.

doridie 2024-10-13 10:59

Very nice, beautifully designed game. I like the idea of zooming in and out of the level :) The way to the key was more fun than the way back, I would personally leave out the way back or add a twist so it doesn't feel too repetitive. Overall a nice game with a lot of potential :)

lussard-studio 2024-10-14 13:14

Great game! I was impressed by how detailed the gameplay was. I love the tiny character, so cute haha

yasheedex 2024-10-14 13:47

Well, camera need some work on it, maybe it`d be better for it to just follow the main character object. Also some physics are sharp like when model jumps with no walls around - it gets higher rather than with a wall nearby (even if it does not touch it directly). Puzzle section is awesome and has great potential for constructioning new levels. Thats a game I would by on steam no cap.

andriana-mantidfly 2024-10-16 03:57

If it weren't for the image shift and the normal transition to the platform sections, the game would be just a masterpiece. And so it turned out to be a pretty and interesting puzzle anyway.

calitoucourt 2024-10-16 17:45

The game was nice, but start to be boring after 3-4 levels

axodo 2024-10-17 08:45

Well, good thing we only have 3 levels, then

babygirl2005 2024-10-19 23:02

I absolutely adore the game, Good job and keep going!

ava-skoog 2024-10-20 12:16

Cute! The fuzzy art is really nice and easy on the eyes and the feedback (sound and graphics) of Micro's movement feels good. The main mechanics are interesting too. The music is interesting because it's almost a little melancholic, making me wonder just what's going on here. 😅

There were just a bunch of polish issues that made it rough to play (understandable with the time constraints), and some bugs. I'm sure you're aware of them since you've got so many good comments already and you've added measures like the L key.

One thing I haven't seen anyone mention yet is that ZQSD is more commonly WASD so to people who aren't familiar with other keyboard layouts your instructions might be confusing; I usually just add both (e.g. "move with ZQSD/WASD"). For what it's worth, if you haven't tested, your game works fine with the expected keys on a WASD keyboard since you're using physical keys and not specific letters. :)

The biggest issue I had personally was on level three where I really struggled to get back up from the tile with the key because I wasn't getting the timing right for turning mid-air so I thought I couldn't do it and that I was somehow not placing the tiles right in the Macro stage, but eventually I got it.

Needs some work but it's got personality and charm and a cool mechanic that I think some very interesting puzzles could come out of if you were to keep working on it after the jam!

axodo 2024-10-23 08:25

Thanks for your feedback! :)

We are indeed still working on it, and a post jam version will be out at some point.

Thanks for the feedback, you all!

lyssa 2024-10-24 04:48

I did break mostly everything like most people but I want to say how much I love the visuals and sound design. When I saw that you guys used procreate and paper to make the art it made a lot of sense, its really cute and soft and the texture of it all is really appealing for a little platformer like this. Not to mention I felt horrible every time I accidently jumped into the spikes because of the little squeaks
