| Apr 6 19:55:30 | Aito Deliverance | ♥ 1 | I love this - fantastic atmosphere, excellent implicit education of the player, lots of efficient emotional deliver. The difficulty of struggling with boxes, the dreary, uniform look of our town contrast with the small joys - Aito's little honk, our memories of artistry, and the allure of communicating with someone 'outside of the system'. So much worldbuilding packed into a game jam. Additionally, I love the little deatails: * Aito's little jostle as it drives along * "You you wood" - chipper, but imposing Very well done! | |
| Apr 6 20:16:44 | 21m 14s | Stalling The Dictator | ♥ 2 | Hilarious game - and quite polished too! The scrawled writing and coffee stains, the reinforced concrete 'office', the period-accurate devices - all very well rendered. All that for just 30 more days in the sun... Great entry! |
| Apr 6 21:45:49 | 1h 29m | Shotgun King: the Final Checkmate | ♥ 3 | Fantastic game - played over and over until I could get my deck filled. Was able to tech out a sniper king, extra range and rifled bore - made for a wonderfully unique playstyle. If you ever feel like diving back into the code, adding a 'checkmate' (or forfeit) so that the player does not have to suffer the "indignity" of clicking bad moves until they are squashed. Similarly, if I whittle down the whites to a single king, perhaps he should seppuku rather than make me chase him around, picking up loose shells. Could so something fun here, a checkmate/forfeit is another place to add some signature flare and polish. Beautiful game, excellently designed, highly engaging, wonderful tunes - you should all be very proud! |
| Apr 6 21:58:44 | 12m 55s | TEST TECH S.A.Your expiration is inevitable. | ♥ 1 | The art is stunning, sounds are well made, and the loss of control is a wonderful idea. I played several times, just enjoying the level layout, the music, and the beautiful enemies. Already, so much of a great game is here - if you ever feel like playing around with making changes, here are some tests worth exploring: * Being able to shoot rockets would force the player to switch between running, and precision aiming when they are stunned * Making control loss much shorter, but more common, so it becomes more part of the play, and less likely to snowball to death * Making the enemies spawn in 'waves', then during the interim the character gathers pickups to heal - calm moments serve to intensify the battles, and give the player something to look forward to. Screenshot 2022-04-06 175547.png Really fun submission, very well done! You should be very proud |
| Apr 6 22:10:27 | 11m 43s | Mars-O-Tage | ♥ 1 | What an awesome idea! This is a truly masterful experiment in game design. Reminds me of the 'Ultimate Assassin' flash games - but is actually more tactical and engaging, as you juggle multiple saboteurs and route yourself between the different machines. I actually love the art style, that quirky combination of 2d and 3d, and the music is quite catchy! The story is quite funny, and if you ever want to go back and add a bit more polish, I think this game could be truly one of a kind. Really wonderful job - well done! |
| Apr 6 22:37:34 | 27m 07s | TooBigForThisWorLD50 | ♥ 1 | A beautiful game! Love the little effects, the assets selected are wonderful, and even the main menu is impressive. |
| Apr 7 22:48:02 | 24h 10m | The Last Days of RIPLEY 9000 | ♥ 2 | This game is beautiful! The lovely fresnel ground shader, the gorgeous waving alien grass, the plucky and stylistic main character, the polished UI - amazing job! Love the details, like being able to use tree growth to spot underground water, and planning your route to find multiple resources near a recharge pad. I very much enjoyed my time with Ripley in his strange, lonely paradise. |
| Apr 7 22:54:00 | 5m 58s | Star Keeper | ♥ 1 | Wow! What a cool submission - engaging lore, awesome assets, fun worldbuilding, and voice acting! Who doesn't love a whimsical space adventure? Super well done. |
| Apr 7 23:07:20 | 13m 20s | Aster Defense | ♥ 4 | Beautiful! And 'stellar' audio too! I loved being able to scroll in to inspect all of the gorgeous sprites closer. I greatly enjoyed kitting out the planet in a warm blanket of shields and missiles. Very rewarding game, well done! |
| Apr 7 23:13:17 | 5m 57s | This Mortal Coil | ♥ 1 | Wow, I love this game! The deceptively simple combination of turn-based and time based made for really wonderful gameplay - supported greatly by the well thought out projectiles. The pacing especially - I slid directly from learning controls, then understanding objectives, then dodging new magicks, then routing my way out of complex traps - it was very rewarding, and especially impressive for a game jam. I really loved the art style and audio - reminded me of 'off' by mortis ghost - gives almost an eerie otherworldliness - very fitting with the game's lore. Plus, any minor visual glitches look intentional! Overall: amazing job! |
| Apr 7 23:24:14 | 10m 57s | Block or Bust | ♥ 2 | This game is perfect - the particle effects, the sensible logic, the motivational posters, and the gameplay is truly exceptional. Plus it explains why I remember every blockbuster employee having a hazy, magical look in their eye - they were rushing off to the back room to blast dinosaurs! Truly a special piece of human culture I am proud to have participated in - really awesome job! |
| Apr 7 23:34:35 | 10m 21s | [HTML5/WebGL] Be the Inevitable | ♥ 1 | Awesome game! Love the 2.5d effect on the walls, the knockback, and the particles. Sound effects and music were amazing as well. If you ever want to experiment, limiting ammo might be a great way to encourage the player to keep switching between weapons, finding the right tool for the job - and making a spray-clearing of a room all the more satisfyingly when you are willing to spend the rile ammo doing so. Really well done, a very satisfying play Time to go play Hotline Miami for the thousandth time! 😉 |
| Apr 7 23:57:40 | 23m 05s | Grieventide | ♥ 2 | What a beautiful game! The stylistic rendering, the well made enemy sprites, our adorable little flame knight - and that health vignette!! So cool! Really well done, perfect atmosphere - reminds me of dark souls / bloodborne. |
| Apr 8 17:13:44 | 17h 16m | I'm on a boat - Anxiety Simulator | ♥ 3 | An awesome entry! Love the water ripples, the assets, and the pirate atmosphere. Frantic, engaging, and exiting - plus, that hilarious buff from regrouping at the bow. One thing to note: for me, this launches Steam VR whenever is is run, and trying to close Steam VR exits 'Im On A Boat' as well - not a huge deal, just something to be aware of. I've seen this with unreal jam games before, likey just some checkbox in the developer settings. |
| Apr 8 17:51:53 | 38m 09s | Against the Dying of the Light | ♥ 2 | What a fantastic entry! Masterful storytelling, pacing, artistry, and audio. This game is deeply engaging and heart wrenching on every level, and supported by every facet of it's polish - the gentle particle effects as the storm worsens, the tight cuddled face of our child rendered lovingly in uncharastically vibrant colors, the winter wind and gentle songwork twinkling in tandem - all create a powerful and efficient atmosphere that is inductive of a very skillful dev team. Plus there were some very clever gameplay elements on display - the key items being lit by forgotten lanterns, the metroidvainia sighting of the impassable log, and the path that lays beyond, the frantic twig searching in the beautiful waving grass, and the natural comfort of the screen brightening near the stoked fire - contrasted with the dark dread of running back to camp as only embers struggle. Gotta say, the theme + the ending has me awful nervous, and all I can do is hope against hope that the rangers got here in time. Truly amazing work, you should all be very proud! |
| Apr 8 19:03:54 | 1h 12m | Drawn Out | ♥ 6 | This game is an entrancing look at diegetic design. The gorgeous models which function as an in-world 'ui', the wavering candleflame, the lovingly drawn card art- all sum up to make the perfect mix of comfy and invigorating environment - familiar and adventurous like a good frothy mug of mead. The cards and tactics were ranged, but kept tight to ease learnability and mastery - an excellent choice. I will say (and perhaps this is just my experience) but ensuring players have access to an equal number of rare and common cards could go a long way to improve balance. There were a few decks where I seemed to be fielding poor frogs against armies of high level trolls. And there were several greater daemon cards which I never got to try myself, even after an hour or so of gameplay. Needless to say, I played a ton of drawn-out. Also thank you greatly for implementing the simulation speed up! I cannot state enough how well the atmosphere was pulled off, really exceptional work. Sidenote: I have recently been looking into this old-norse game aestetic for my own personal projects: see image of my freshly 3dprinted hnefatafl (Tablut) game: PXL_20220330_133558517.PORTRAIT.jpg So this game has been very inspiring in that way too! |
| Apr 8 19:16:54 | 13m 00s | Sundown | ♥ 1 | WOW! You fit so many mechanics into this jam! A super satisfying fly/dodge, wall climbing, gunplay, several enemy types - all of these synergize so well for a highly enjoyable entry The background, UI, and sprite work were very high quality, well done. Also, the game as a freakn garlic knight boss battle, it's amazing |
| Apr 8 19:23:06 | 6m 12s | Anemos | ♥ 2 | Wonderful little game, with beautiful and thematic assets. Menus, gameobjects, and effects all fit the style perfectly - well done! |
| Apr 8 19:32:35 | 9m 29s | Cosmic Castaway | ♥ 1 | Loved the art in this game, and enjoyed the metanarrative on nostalgia ;) Yeah, really just a treat to live in that strange and beautiful world for a bit - thanks for creating it! |
| Apr 8 19:45:17 | 12m 42s | Nature Is Healing | ♥ 1 | Wow!! A top-down shooter with a cellular automata enemy?? What an ingenious idea! And it's got rogue-like randomized levels! So cool! Would love to see a sequel to this game, maybe with the flame propagating as cellular automata as well (a weaker one than the mold - but perhaps the flame could be be strengthened by oil - or some other such additional mechanic to deepen the gameplay) All in all, an awesome and experimental entry - If you get the opportunity to post source code, I would love to check out the algorithms behind this. Also the intro cinematic was very slick, loved it Great work! |
| Apr 8 20:05:09 | 19m 52s | Card Crawler | ♥ 1 | What a surprisingly deep and engaging entry! Was a very enjoyable process learn all the abilities and combinations of buying, attacking, and defending - making an endless card game was a genius idea. I loved how it was implemented too, with the physical cards flying about, and the little bowl of hearts. Also, every card game me a giggle - great game! |
| Apr 8 20:15:03 | 9m 54s | Paddle Panic 🚣♂️😱 | ♥ 4 | What a joy this game is! The assets are stylized and stunning, the character is adorable, and the camera work and physics are smooth and polished. Shocking to see a functioning and competitive leaderboard on a jam game! That is no small feat! And the gameplay! Hilarious, frantic, and playful - I only wish it didn't hurt my carpal tunnel. Also, the little touches, like the bushels of wildflowers, and the itch.io background - super appreciate the all the effort, very well done! |
| Apr 8 20:23:38 | 8m 35s | Alloy Song | ♥ 2 | What an interesting title, I greatly enjoyed the writing, framing, and exploring of this game's world. Color palette, tittle, models, fonts - all polished to a high degree. Of course, audio would be lovely if you ever feel like revisiting, but the game is a joy to behold already. Great job! |
| Apr 8 20:33:11 | 9m 33s | Meow~~~~ | ♥ 2 | This game is an absolute trip - and I loved it |
| Apr 8 20:53:32 | 20m 21s | Death Is Real. | ♥ 1 | I love this game - wonderful puzzle design, consistently challenging - both in logicality and dexterity. Plus, the the polish is unpaired - a consistent color palette, lovely sprites, smooth and straightforward controls, gorgeous backgrounds, fonts, and perfect theming. A well excecated plan - congratulations on such a stellar entry! |
