Apr 5 22:52:45 Battery Low ♥ 5 Great game! Love love loved all the presentation. Possibly some of the most appealing sound I've heard in my many jams. At one point my buggy started driving at 2x speed. Buggy buggy I guess. Was desperate to try and discover how I did it but no luck :( Congrats on a lovely little game.
Apr 6 11:52:35 12h 59m Mr. Second ♥ 1 Nice job! Really liked the art style, felt very cohesive. In the tutorial I completely didn't get that the copper element was a switch. "to up the platform" isn't correct English, and it wasn't obvious that "jump here" and "to up the platform" were part of the same sentence. I reckon instead of "jump here" + "to up the platform" you should just say "this is a switch" + "switches move objects" and make it super clear. The game was fun once I worked it out :) GGs!
Apr 6 12:05:30 12m 55s Take the exam ♥ 2 Basically I agree with exactly what @janku said :) GGs!! Hope you guys had fun!
Apr 6 13:01:41 56m 11s Akashica ♥ 3 WOW. Really effective writing, there really is no overstating the effectiveness of good writing in games, it's a rare treat when it's done well. And in this case it's a jam game, which makes it all the more impressive. I'm glad you kept the gameplay simple and focused on the story, I bet you probably needed all 72 hours to refine it this much. I was very glad to have the save and load system to abuse :D it's incredibly difficult to stay alive, even when you have some idea of how the options will play out. Effects of options do feel a little random at times (I think because it is) but that's not necessarily a bad thing, it adds to the intentional maddening, hopeless feeling. Great job, GGs
Apr 7 11:36:49 22h 35m The Manbutton Project ♥ 1 Saw this being played on stream. I really wanna play and try and get the high score, but seems the key press bug is affecting me with almost every combination of keys. I'll hold off rating and come back and see if you've fixed this soon :)
Apr 7 20:18:59 8h 42m TOOB ♥ 2 As Jitspoe pointed out the gameplay did seem to beg you to go slow hehe. Maybe if the speed ramped up over time? Visually very nice, and I love love LOVE the start and game over screen, with the smoke shader. OOH. So nice.
Apr 7 23:13:14 2h 54m Word Game ♥ 1 LOL maybe this is a troll and the game is "Find all of the words using every letter of the alphabet?" :D Half hope so because that would be funny, but also hope it's just broken because I'd love to check out a fixed game in the future
Apr 7 23:25:53 12m 39s Cursed Ronin ♥ 1 Really nice work on the art :) I defeated all the enemies and then I couldn't seem to find what all to do. Is that intentional? As in you're avoiding the inevitable by absorbing health until you run out of enemies? being able to slash while jumping would be really handy as the enemies float just out of reach a lot of the time :) Congrats on your first jam!! Keep it up!
Apr 8 00:02:47 36m 54s Aster Defense ♥ 4 Unintentional ASMR if I ever saw it :D As others have said, it's very easy. I'm not sure it's truly "delaying the inevitable" as I think the planet is protected forever by just a few turrets. But boy is this game relaxing! Sorry if that's not what you were going for but I really enjoyed feeling sleepier as I watched all the little asteroids pop in and out of existence :) Super satisfying
Apr 8 00:21:51 19m 04s The Pit ♥ 0 The most fun I've had throwing a baby into a hole. Why don't these dumb peasants realise I'm trying to save them. By throwing them into a hole. They could at least help out and throw a banana or two at the devourer of worlds. My only criticism is that the screaming only busted one of my eardrums.
Apr 8 00:38:18 16m 27s Kiwis Can't Fly ♥ 3 Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good! UGH, what a beautiful concept and execution. No part was weaker than any other, and the way the music happens to the beat of your bounces, but you could miss any beat and it would still sound completely intended. You guys have created something really outstanding here. PS. as an animator myself, imma find you, artist :D
Apr 8 12:00:17 11h 21m Day of the Flame - LD 50 ♥ 1 That flame effect is AAA+ :D I thought the colour palette choice and pixel art for the level were really nice. Platforming felt good and player friendly and I liked the setting/theme you went with a lot. The boss could have been improved greatly by leaving no areas on the bottom level where you can wait forever without getting hit. Maybe instead add some platforms that are in range at any point to give you a chance to get out? Or maybe when you fall to the bottom the boss has a pause/windup animation to give you a chance to quickly get out of there, and I guess a long one after he successfully hits you too. All in all I think you did a really nice job, congrats :)
Apr 8 12:07:30 7m 13s Operation: Cable Jumper ♥ 1 Nicely done shooter, great art!! I feared at one point the difficulty was ramping up too quickly but then it calmed down again, it's nice to have moments of respite in-between screens sometimes so was glad to see you got that balance right :) Did you write the music yourself?
Apr 8 12:22:25 14m 55s Untitled Shooty Game ♥ 1 I really liked the fact that you could destroy the enemies down to just their core and that would finish them off. Just that little touch made it quite different to a lot of shooters out there, and they generally tend to all be v similar, so nice one! I wished the ship could have moved a little faster, to escape getting pinned in a corner for example, but on the other hand I guess that's just another level of tactics to be considered when playing. Congrats on making the compo deadline and creating everything yourself, that's not easy! Cheers! 🍻
Apr 8 13:04:48 42m 23s Catronaut ♥ 2 I love our little space cat! It was so sad hearing the finally little mew as he ran out of oxygen 😥 Great animation and character design, I love chonky characters and of course chonky cat is the best kind of chonky. Also loved the level design, what a craigslist find! Music was stellar! (get it?!?) I loved the little mews as notes every now and then. A playful space-epic, hard thing to pull off I imagine! I liked the vocals, whatever the lyrics were saying (in my head it's "We haaaaz no aaiiiirrr, meowmeowmeowmeow") I was getting quite into the gameplay, timing the clicks is very important, there's sneaky little gaps here and there to make your trips quicker, also having to consider the orientation of your character, there's a surprising amount of complexity that once you understand you can improve your movement. I had the thought at some point "I wonder if I can repair through walls by sneakily being still in the target radius" and felt like a genius when it worked. Then I realised that the game was glitched so I could actually repair any terminal no matter how far away from it I was 😅 I stopped playing after that. Got the highscore but it feels kinda cheap since I was repairing through walls, so feel free to remove me if you can. FYI I played the tutorial version. Great jobs guyyssss! Basically 5 stars all round from meee
Apr 8 13:16:10 11m 22s Witchcraft ♥ 1 I had a lot of fun with this one! cursed flame is the way to go. I agree with @gord10ahmet a little visual feedback of enemy hits would make this game! I like the idea of an auto shooter in this style, not sure I've seen that before, makes it a very different experience. Nice art and animation, all works v well. Great job :)
Apr 8 14:33:03 1h 16m Sandwich Drop ♥ 1 Why can I only read boss's dialogue in the voice of Rick Sanchez? :D Really funny stuff, and neat platforming. I love the flop on the cart. Man catching those sandwiches really went from 3 to 500mph. Sorry to hear about Jimmy's condition. Unfortunately there's no known cure and every person he comes into contact with will be unable to not play and reference Among Us constantly. I like the menu screen! Something very visually appealing about it
Apr 8 15:31:17 58m 14s The Inevitable Dominion ♥ 2 YesyesyesyesyesYES! Legolas eat your heart out So good, so simple, so effective. Lovely art! The enemies running in at the end belongs on r/oddlysatisfying My only complaint is that it's a little too simple in its mechanics, as in the optimum strategy is just to play over and over until the enemies neatly spawn in hoards on the side of the cannon, and spread apart on the side of the archer. Love the switch of the city to the invading force's colours. Such a neat way of implementing the replay. Also means it's very easy to keep going on for ages without stopping :D Nicely done! Hi Score: Hoard.png
Apr 10 07:25:09 39h 53m Mad Monkey Manor ♥ 1 Nice little game! With the dramatic opening, mix of humour, playful graphics, dubstep, dark souls end screen it's definitely a mixed bag :D I enjoyed the end survival game but it would be cool if there were more setup to tell you that's what it was. It sort of tricks you by presenting you different routes and levels and you expect that to go on, or expect there to be some sort of consequence to choosing a certain path, but then the game just ends and your temple journey is over. I think it could have worked better as an endless dungeon crawler, where the goal is to get deeper and deeper into the temple! Overall though it was a crazy, fun experience, nice one guys :)
Apr 10 09:11:39 1h 46m Flooded Caves ♥ 1 Really nice game! Loved the pixelated water physics. Presentation super solid, nice one!
Apr 10 09:29:58 18m 19s Uchievements ♥ 1 This is a very very cool idea and could be a really fun thing to expand into a larger 'game' to help make projects more interesting. Top marks for innovation. But... how does it fit the theme? Like at all? I feel conflicted with games that ignore the theme. No matter how clever it is are you really even technically participating in the jam? Is it even that innovative if you didn't innovate within the boundaries of the competition? People clearly really like this idea and it just seems wrong that you can potentially score a lot higher than people who actually stuck to and were limited by the theme. It's much easier to come up with a cool idea if you just ignore the theme, it's an intentional handicap that everyone's supposed to have. I'd say if you want to make and share a game that has nothing to do with the LD theme, just post it elsewhere, it could still do very well! Once again, I really like this idea, hope you develop it further :)
Apr 10 09:48:28 18m 30s Jelly Defense ♥ 1 Really nice and well polished game!! I loved the animation, the shaders, the art style in general. The only issue I had was that it was incredibly easy for a bunch of rounds, and then suddenly became absolutely impossible. Like it went from consistently spawning two groups of enemies at a time, for like 6 groups in total per round, to constantly spawning groups without end. I think I defeated like 30 groups in a row without the wave ending? And was eventually overwhelmed. Maybe this was a bug? Anyway, ignoring the balancing this is an otherwise amazing entry. Well done guys :)
Apr 10 11:04:41 1h 16m Escape from Nowhere ♥ 1 Nice! I scored 189. I thought it was a cool, simple game. The driving, turning, acceleration + deceleration all felt good. Would have been nice to let the car overlap the edge of the road a teeny bit before dying, even if that means changing nothing but the size of the car image and leaving the hitbox. Nice job!!
Apr 10 11:13:53 9m 12s Enlit ♥ 1 Really nice! Great mood, nice amount of humour. Satisfying feedback/animation, good use of the theme. Only 1 issue - I seemed to get the end dialogue before I reached the end of the game
Apr 10 11:21:23 7m 30s A strange monument ♥ 0 Nice job! As alks said, movement could be a bit faster and would be nice to see more of the screen, I know he's. Mybe you don't want to make him faster since he's an old guy, but in that case maybe have the collectibles closer together and lower the time allowance. I died 1ft away from delivering the 20 berries 😿
Apr 10 13:53:53 2h 32m The Endless Night ♥ 2 Nice artwork! Love the added touch of the gig in the corner. The hunters seemed to not do anything apart from walk around? But then I think they killed me anyway.. I couldn't tell because there's no health bar, no indication of any kind that you're taking damage, or being "hunted". I can just push them around the map and they seem to not care until it's suddenly game over :D apart from that, great job!
Apr 10 14:14:25 20m 32s The Endless Junkyard ♥ 2 I really love this! Great interpretation of the theme, very different to other things I've seen. I've noticed you're rating a lot of games but don't have much karma - thought I'd mention that if you also leave comments when you rate, you'll get karma and your game will be pushed more :)
Apr 11 08:36:13 18h 21m The Great Flood ♥ 1 YESYESYES! This is how a game should be. A unique puzzling concept, being able to take your time, restart immediately, cute pixel graphics and a strong theme. Nothing bad to say, my favourite entry so far. I'm going to be remembering this mechanic for levels I make in the future! Oh and congrats on being one of the few who didn't have a timer-based game over (we did) very refreshing
Apr 11 09:17:06 40m 53s Super Mowser Bros ♥ 1 Great concept and execution, a lot of polish on this one. After losing once and understanding the rules, I played for a long time and eventually it had been like 20 minutes and I hadn't lost and needed to go do other things haha. You should implement an online leaderboard! Also sometimes the UI got on the way of dropping tokens, and Mowser stopped moving quite early on and Bario just ran past them lol I really love the art. You managed to make it look basically as nice as the newer paper mario - not an easy feat for a game jam. v high marks from me!
Apr 11 09:30:59 13m 53s Grapecheese ♥ 1 Maaaaaan, I got softlocked. After getting the cheese and heading back past the guy who says I can't swim, I was just stuck in that level with 3 directions to go, and walking off the screen didn't change scene :( Also YES to the art and everything, the style and humour are right up my alley, I did briefly try and defeat the rat without the powerup and seemed to get pretty far, but alas, I guess I'll never know if it's possible to defeat him or if my own defeat is just inevitable.
Apr 11 09:52:48 21m 49s Fuse Lit! ♥ 1 Yay!! I did it! Super fun, original idea. Love the simple graphics. Was very mind bending at times and I think maybe the levels were a little out of order in terms of difficulty. I think the hardest one was stuck somewhere in the middle. I really loved this, top marks!
Apr 11 11:17:57 1h 25m Bossfight But- (READ DESC PLS) ♥ 1 Very polished game but I'm afraid there's just too much too fast. Like even if you keep away from the boss and the spawner, the lines come out of nowhere so fast and it's often impossible to avoid them, especially if the boss and spawner happen to zoom in on you at that exact moment. I think to be satisfying the player needs to know that with enough practice they will be able to survive through anything. At the moment it's just making me stressed and angry because when I die I know there's nothing I could have done differently, so I'm being punished for nothing. Graphics are great! I liked the vfx, the music, presentation was super solid. I'm not a fan of the mobile game coin based upgrade system, but that's just personal preference, there's nothing wrong with it, just makes me instantly get the feeling of "oh it's one of those games that tries to manipulate you into spending money on nothing." Really nice entry though :) I liked a lot about it.
