This is a very very cool idea and could be a really fun thing to expand into a larger 'game' to help make projects more interesting. Top marks for innovation.
But... how does it fit the theme? Like at all? I feel conflicted with games that ignore the theme. No matter how clever it is are you really even technically participating in the jam?
Is it even that innovative if you didn't innovate within the boundaries of the competition? People clearly really like this idea and it just seems wrong that you can potentially score a lot higher than people who actually stuck to and were limited by the theme. It's much easier to come up with a cool idea if you just ignore the theme, it's an intentional handicap that everyone's supposed to have.
I'd say if you want to make and share a game that has nothing to do with the LD theme, just post it elsewhere, it could still do very well!
Once again, I really like this idea, hope you develop it further :)

Yeah it's technically allowed. That doesn't mean that the idea is just to ignore the theme (imo). Why do a game Jam if you're going to ignore the theme? Especially if everyone else is putting limitations on themselves.
You're also allowed to create as many assets and do as much coding as you want before the Jam, that's also allowed in the rules. Technically you could make a whole game before the competition starts, nothing to do with the theme and post it and that would be allowed. You wouldn't be disqualified. Doesn't mean it's within the spirit of the competition.
Anyway it's a grey area, I didn't rate your game so you don't need to worry about an 'unfair' score from me, I'm just giving my two cents :) Once again, I think it's a nice idea.
