Dec 4 05:23:03 Fire Swept ♥ 2 Very interesting concept, fighting wildfires definitely contain the hectic and overwhelming feeling of david vs goliath. Some comments: Good - Love the tile-based design, evokes the feeling of strategy game - Directional sound is great Could be improved - It's not immediately clear that what the different individual units do, or how their actions affect the fire - The teleport mechanic kinda invalidates the tile-based strategy game design, also it makes the fires too random and its hard to form a strategy to combat it. Recommendations - You should lean in towards the tile based strategy design. Make it turn based, and perhaps have a main fire station that generates units every N turns. (maybe collect resources to build more) - have units of strategical importance: One of the main tools of fighting wildfires is cutting down the vegetation to create a dead zone of no fuel - Maybe have different units try to evacuate citizens as well
Dec 4 05:28:43 5m 40s Clones ♥ 1 Took me over a minute to figure out how to play the game. And the game hanged 2 minutes later. Good - Looks like you are supposed to do something with the large number of tiny humans, but I can't figure it out Could be improved - Performance
Dec 4 05:34:40 5m 57s The Pursuit of Profit ♥ 1 The gamefeel looks amazing, it makes me want to understand the lore of the world. However I don't get the gameplay. Are we supposed to just throw babies into the robot's mouth? What does that do other than increasing the dollar amount? And there's no continues after 4 platforms?
Dec 4 05:53:15 18m 35s SalvOâ‚‚ ♥ 0 I love the art feel and tight gameplay, but it feels like there could be more you know. Where did the aliens come from? Why is the room open to outer space? What exists outside of this room?
Dec 4 06:13:13 19m 58s Udder Chaos ♥ 1 This is a very interesting universe. Why do demon cows demand blood sacrifice? Aren't they herbivores? What do they do with the chickens and ducks? What do the humans think when they found that one of their cows are performing a satanic ritual? Things to improve - The movement and camera could be better, i was feeling a little motion sick - It's thirsting for a juicy slab of storyline - I didn't get to fill my hunger bar with grass before gotten teleported by the demon cow, and that felt pretty bad...
Dec 4 06:38:53 25m 40s Space Goat: Coast to Coast ♥ 1 I'm a simple man, I see Goat, I click. But WOW did my expectations got blown out of the airlock or what! Great - Goat is well implemented. Well done. - Space + Ship + Sandbox + Survival = LOVE - I really love how snappy the feeling of snapping the components are - Absolutely love how the Goat wasnt harmed even though the spaceship was destroyed. The transition back to start was 100% genius Could be greater - Kinda hard to tell what the components do from a glance (what's with the snail?) - Way too many things floating in space - My missiles turned back and shot at me??!! - How do you control the spaceship? - What is the goat, I mean Goal of the game?
Dec 4 06:45:17 6m 24s Friendifice ♥ 0 This could have been much better in a 2D light-novel format.
Dec 4 06:53:39 8m 22s Dear GrandMa ♥ 1 The beginning was strong, in the room and the hookup, but it turned black after i played the guitar and the other mouse was gone. No idea what happened. Then i drowned in the blue stuff.
Dec 4 06:58:50 5m 11s Cursed Tower Defense 2D ♥ 0 Good - The graphics look great, but somehow i can't grade the graphics. Could be improved - Hard to tell which are the entrances and which are the exits, making it hard to plan the first few rounds - Usually in a tower defense game, as you level up you unlock new towers so that you can slowly learn them one by one. With this one its kinda hard to tell how the choices differ.
Dec 4 07:10:59 12m 09s JellyWay ♥ 2 Highly polished product! The sacrifice mechanic is really on point and on theme! Though I did manage to find a cheat? If you stack 2 jellys on the ground and jump on top of the second one, with great timing you can grab the bottom jelly and cause the whole thing to fly up and up!
Dec 5 00:18:41 17h 07m Triumph Tribute ♥ 4 The art and illustrations look amazing, as were the class and race designs. But i'm not a fan of timing-based games. Good - Graphics - Class design - World? (would love to learn more about the worldbuilding) - High level of polish for a game jam Could be improved - Not exactly sure what is being sacrificed here. I do notice that i lose the ability to use one of the characters after each fight, but not sure how that is selected. That makes it hard to strategize - So are the number of characters basically just the HP? then why do they have individual HP? - The timing based battle system are too hard as to be frustrating. You also had to do too much of it per battle breaking the immersion from the exploration. - How do you use the items?
Dec 5 00:29:21 10m 40s "Heretiks", just a day at work... Killing some people. ♥ 0 Good - Cool graphics - Interesting world. Who is that character in white? Why are people lining up and willingly jumping off a cliff? And why don't people just push him off the cliff? - interesting dialogue? Could be improved - There's no gameplay - What is the faith bar for? What does it do? - The death march takes too long
Dec 5 00:52:12 22m 51s Cultist ♥ 1 Good - Finally a game that forces the players to think! Could be improved - A little too much is left to chance, laying waste to the best laid plans and causing frustration - The UI is a little bit too manual. Perhaps you could save the person's cultist distribution so that the players need to make minor adjustments each step?
Dec 5 01:03:09 10m 57s Fraction ♥ 1 Good - Never seen before interesting mechanic Could be improved - I didn't get past the first block due to performance issues
Dec 5 01:10:45 7m 36s Generous Ginger George, the Gingerbreadman ♥ 2 Good - Lovely graphics matches well with lovely music - Love that he gets smaller with less hp - perhaps this could be something that players intentionally do to unlock new areas? Could be improved - The main jumping physics doesn't feel as tight as a jumping platformer should - The background is too confusing, not sure which things can be jumped on and which could not - I somehow jumped up to the health bar and got stuck there (right before the outdoor stage)
Dec 5 01:15:50 5m 05s The Purifier ♥ 1 Good - Lightsabers vs demons? cool! Could be improved - The small angle and range of attacks makes it frustrating to attack demons slightly out of position - Are there anything to the game other than attacking a horde of same demons in the same room? - What's that blue thing that screams help?
Dec 5 01:24:36 8m 46s Tim's Christmas Nightmare ♥ 3 Good - Definitely one of the better storyline and narrative games i've seen on here - Love the coherence of mood and music - Absolutely love the checkpoint system (would have quit the game early otherwise) Could be improved - Too much text in the cutscenes (if you want to read it, don't write it) - Its hard to tell where you can stand in the snow (confusing layers)
Dec 5 01:47:23 22m 47s Breach Squad ♥ 0 Omg this is probably the first game that i actively wanted to play through every mission Good - Absolutely love the message and theme - Intro was one of the best in this jam - I love turn based strategy - Graphics was on point and adorable - Sound too Could be better - Instead of pure rocks papers scissors, maybe have some special abilities from the units - Game could be simplified to a single bulldozer and a single building (since once all the enemy units die, its basically game over anyway)
Dec 5 04:13:16 2h 25m Santaur's Elf Cola ♥ 3 Good - Solid game with high polish - Love the custom graphics and morbid theme - Twist on tower defense games, pretty smart Could be improved - The traps dissapear after a few seconds, making it pretty frustrating to play as most elves escape - It is unclear how the "money" to buy traps was generated, making it hard to strategize. I was basically just setting poison traps everywhere and they expire faster than i can replenish them
Dec 5 04:19:44 6m 28s Shoot or Move ♥ 2 The first game with a good AI i've seen in LD! Good - High level of polish - Simple concept with a high skill ceiling - AI is great Could be improved - Its hard to tell when a player is on its last hit - After the missile hit something, maybe the mouse cursor could be teleported back to the body - Would be amazing as a team vs team battle! - Could throw in some powerups in the middle as an incentive for people not to fly as far away as possible
Dec 5 04:31:15 11m 31s Serial Dater ♥ 2 Good - One of the most innovative games i've come across - Highly polished, the graphics, music, and gameplay fits well together - great balance of intrigue and difficulty, and the sacrifices really are sacrifices forcing me to think twice before using powers Could be improved - Hard to tell how many people I had to date to "win"? - All of these people look equally sketchy, you should add some angelic looking fellas to throw people off - Would be amazing if there's a text to speech function
Dec 5 04:38:13 6m 58s Free-Bug ♥ 1 Good - One of the most original ideas - One of the few games that forces players to think - What is the optimal strategy? Could be better - Add some sound? - It's hard to tell what food the bug is aiming for before hovering. Maybe bugs should just be greedy and eat the closest food? - Maybe you can sacrifice bugs to be eaten by other bugs?
Dec 5 06:02:46 1h 24m Santa Saves Christmas ♥ 0 Good - Thats one cute santa - Cute elves Could be improved - I think the sound gave up half way - It is hard to tell why sometimes santa stopped taking presents, but going back to the sleigh fixed it - I have not found a need to sacrifice the elves by level 3
Dec 5 06:29:41 26m 55s Ulti-MEME Sacrifice ♥ 3 Meme-licious, 4.5 updogs! Wow - Much X Men Theme! - Very sacrifice! - So level design! Could be better - The number of particles during the pre-boss battles are too damn high! - Hard to see what most of the drones are doing because of it (which is why i kept the spread shot till last)
Dec 6 02:03:22 19h 33m Food Chain ♥ 2 Good - Solid game with high polish - Great graphic design matches well with music - The sacrifice mechanic is quite unique and forces players to think a little Could be better - Not sure how the join/unjoin mechanic worked
Dec 6 02:18:19 14m 57s Disassembly Line ♥ 2 3D Angry birds, nice Good - Amazingly polished for a 3D game in 72 hours - Gameplay is smooth and intuitive - Sacrifice mechanic is front and center Could be improved - Why does the slow mode kick in for the factory-like things but not the large robots? - Hard to gauge height of trajectory from an isometric view
Dec 6 02:56:16 37m 57s Identity Crisis ♥ 0 One of the best games I've seen on here. If you launch this I'll definitely buy it! Good - Simple concept but high skill ceiling and tight execution - The sacrifice is on point and integral to the gameplay - Forces the player to kinda split its brain into two Could be improved - Maybe snap the movement to a grid for more precision/satisfaction? - Different soundtrack for when there's a clone?
Dec 6 03:11:49 15m 33s For Brain ! ♥ 1 Good - Solid game with high level of polish - Very innovative mechanic with the zombie sacrifice Could be improved - The spikes hitbox is too wide causing you to die just by going near it (even before the jump) - Sometimes the dead zombies will move, making it hard to pave the way to the brain
Dec 6 03:18:01 6m 12s GOATWRATH ♥ 1 I am a simple man, I see Goat, I click. (i played the easy version) Good - Goat was well implemented Could be improved - The movement felt floaty and sometimes the momentum makes it hard to dodge the bullets - upgrades felt inconsequential - did not see the need to eat loved ones
Dec 6 03:42:06 24m 05s Sacrifice^3 ♥ 1 Somehow you made black squares seem threatening. Good job! Good - Amazing visuals - This would be such a good chillaxing game if not for the evil black boxes Could be improved - Remove the black boxes and make this a purely chillaxing game - No sacrifice element
Dec 8 19:14:22 63h 32m Rocket Sheep ♥ 1 Definitely too hard for me, couldn't get past level 2. It would be much more fun if the sheep was in space, and we could use side thrusters to navigate the sheep.
Dec 12 07:40:24 84h 26m Sacrifices in the Cat Yard ♥ 1 Wonderful idea! With some polish this could become a classic Good - One of the most original interpretations of the theme - Being able to play as a cat is always a plus - Great lighthearted mood juxtaposing with the "dark sacrifice" of the cat Could be improved - Needs more polish: Imagine if there are other cats teaching the player cat that it must sacrifice tiny animals to the "altar" - Could double down on the stealth aspect of the game, forcing the player to be patient (like the mouse mechanic is very good) - The graphics doesn't quite do the game justice. In a cat's eyes, everything is very alive, especially anything that moves. Perhaps try to adjust the resolution as well as colour palette? also putting the camera at the cat's ground-level perspective would make everything much more immersive. - Needs a button to "meow"
Dec 13 03:00:20 19h 19m Divine Favour ♥ 1 Good - Interesting base idea, but could be much more fleshed out - Who are the enemies? Why are they attacking your fort? - Why do you only have one fort? Is this the last vestiges of humanity ala Attack on Titan? - Why are there only 2 gods? I think adding a God of fertility could introduce an interesting dynamic between the 3 stats Could be improved - Please for the love of god don't keep adding dialog windows to your game. If there's nothing for the player to do, you don't even need an OK button, just make it like a newsfeed or something - Needs a lot more fleshing out of gameplay
