LD23 — Tiny World

The Small World of Professor Strange by Will Edwards 2012-04-25T20:14:00

it is solvable. I don't want to ruin it for anyone but here are some hints. a) get rid of the pirates somehow or b) get the octopus onto dry land. Then have enough items to start combining them to make something (type HELP to see what commands are available). There is more obviously but don't want to give too much away

The Small World of Professor Strange by Will Edwards 2012-05-01T15:36:00

23, if you have got into the secret garden, there is something worth examining. Also, go east twice (as in go east, then return via go west, then go east a second time). That won't solve the puzzle but might amuse.

The Small World of Professor Strange by Will Edwards 2012-05-02T16:31:00

There's now a map cheat-sheet linked in the main entry for anyone who feels like cheating.

Tiny Dream by Kendja 2012-04-25T20:08:00

Really liked it. Got stuck in green zone

LD24 — Evolution

Cage Flight by Will Edwards 2012-08-27T05:55:00

Hi NedortGames, it's not finnished yet, the deadline for Jam entries isn't until later tonight. Try again tomorrow are the full submission.

Sorry to hear about the lag - which country are you in? We haven't seen any lag problems at all, but once it's stable we may be able to find more servers to host.

Cage Flight by Will Edwards 2012-08-29T18:08:00

I'll be in the CAGE most evenings on and off if anyone wants to test it against a moving target. I'm in European time - so like 6 hours ahead of east coast. Just waiting for victims to make extinct.

Please don't be too hard on the server lag, that's kinda the price of trying to do a multiplayer game for LD and only have cheapest servers. If this does well we may do a much better game next time.

Cage Flight by Will Edwards 2012-08-29T19:05:00

yeah we were/are planning client side slerping, and there are a bunch of ideas for a follow-on game. But this is what you get for 1 dev, 1 graphics guy and 72hrs including a work day. I find it playable at least.

AvRvE by Cake&Code 2012-08-29T20:32:00

I enjoyed it, simple although it took me a while to figure out what hurts you and what doesn't. Kinda got the evolution bit.

Sorry cannot vote as jam entrant.

The Crown Jewels Job by Will Edwards 2012-12-19T20:56:00

graphics guy here. Seriously, thanks for all the feedback, we will take it all on board. Oh for more time! I won't make excuses here but will do autopsy.

PS. Reclusive Frog; love your game man. Have to vote via Will's account tho per Jam rules.

Graphics guy's autopsy: http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/2012/12/21/ld24-the-crown-jewels-job-autopsy/

The Crown Jewels Job by Will Edwards 2012-12-28T17:43:00

thanks everyone for feedback, really helpful.

Zenmumbler, I forgot to mention it in the graphics autopsy but the light-dark hints is something we realised too late. We didn't put the level together until the last couple of hours and due to sloppy modelling it wasn't easy to add highlights to the Scenery layer. I did add some doorways to the In-Front layer but that's drawn in front of the player so doesn't work everywhere - eg the battlements.

We've learned a lot. If we do another platform game next time it'll be a ton better with loads more graphics because I can front-run the engine next time as I now know roughly what bits I'll need.

Doctor Spandex by Cássio Eduardo 2012-12-21T18:54:00

LD27 — 10 Seconds

NSA's Where's Snowden? by Will Edwards 2013-08-27T05:16:00

Thanks guys! Hopefully this goes down well :-)

We ran out of time so the dossier isn't finished and there are few plot setting emails. Might do a minor post compo release just on that.

NSA's Where's Snowden? by Will Edwards 2013-08-27T10:04:00

Keep up the encouragent guys.

We kinda put the theme to one side and built the game we (read Will) wanted to. The 10-seconds thing is there in the game speed but we wanted it to be a deep game.

Some play hints.
To play smart you need to figure out the SQL (see help in Prism window).. Look for people who are flying from Moscow (code DME) to hostile locations as final destination (via multiple airports, not direct). Assume Snowden will be under fake ID. then, when your target is in the air on-route to a friendly country, delete their record from the flight itinerary. Bingo.
Or try to get your agents onto the same flight but that's a bit harder I think.

NSA's Where's Snowden? by Will Edwards 2013-08-29T18:32:00

Top four SQL queries, in this order.
SELECT * FROM AIRPORTS AS A, FLIGHTS AS F WHERE F.DEPART = A.CODE AND A.COUNTRY = 'RUSSIA'

SELECT T.* FROM TARGETS AS T, MANIFESTS AS M WHERE M.PASS = T.PASS AND M.FLIGHT = '<insert flight ID here>'

SELECT F.*, M.REMARK FROM FLIGHTS AS F, MANIFESTS AS M WHERE M.PASS = '<insert suspected passport ID here>' AND F.CODE = M.FLIGHT;

DELETE FROM manifests WHERE flight = 'xxxxxx' AND pass = 'yyyyy'

NSA's Where's Snowden? by Will Edwards 2013-09-02T06:15:00

darkshadow, look in the NSA internal email window. At the start there are two mails, one from each of your agents, telling you where they are and where they can fly to from there. Click on the flights you want them to take and it'll say "BOOKED". Crude by hey, it was built in quite a rush! They'll take the first one to leave and will only take the others if they return to the same airport. Each time they land they send you another mail. If you are super-keen you can plan their routes using PRISM flight details beforehand but takes some detective work.

Re speed, agreed. Just one of those things sacrificed for a) the 10 seconds theme and b) build time.

Emergency Stop by agrdev 2013-08-27T20:06:00

Most satisfying game ever. LOVE IT!!!

Lunar Rush by timmahh 2013-08-27T20:16:00

LD28 — You Only Get One

Ursa Miner by Will Edwards 2013-12-16T08:11:00

Like it!! Love the deforming terrain. Plays fine on my laptop. Everything could be tweaked and further improved but that's 48hrs and one guy....
Good sound effects, pity you didn't have time to learn to generate music.

LD30 — Connected Worlds

Gamification of LD the contest :)

We need more Luders in India!!!! And the amazon basin!

Connecting LD30 to the Real World by Will Edwards 2014-08-26T18:51:00

Darers in Iceland! And someone in the Amazon jungle!!! How cool is that!

Connecting LD30 to the Real World by Will Edwards 2014-08-26T20:12:00

@MrTambourine, sincere apologies on that. Yes we do know our history, that's an artists'error based on rough-guessing geography without country borders on the underlay. As I said, sincere apols. Also, the hammer and sickle is intended as strictly comical / visual effect, no political statement.

Connecting LD30 to the Real World by Will Edwards 2014-08-29T15:16:00

I think this is a game, an exploring one. The moment someone picks a game to try based on clearing more of the map, or checks back to see how much more map they've cleared I think they've been gamed. And if you move your location to India just to see what's drawn there {hint} then you are cheating, which is proof it's a game in my book. I get why it's controversial, and it's a good thing to challenge the boundaries. It'd be a sad day if all entries were app-like, I love the straightforward games too. But for now I would definitely like to see more gamification apps entered, as long as they are cool and fun which I'm sure they will be:)

Connecting LD30 to the Real World by Will Edwards 2014-09-04T07:44:00

If this becomes a community app then artists among us should band together secretly with Will before the next LD and do a new map. This map was rushed for obvious reasons.

Gamification of the gamification could include a 'road trip' mode where you have to connect two locations on the map. Or a strategy game where you somehow invade, occupy and conquer locations like Risk.

A (dis)connected world... by royvanrijn 2014-08-26T18:53:00
