LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

City Building Similuator by stolA 2018-12-14T21:42:31Z

@Dillon We initially had more plans for the interaction between buildings and people, and the individual roles of every new human, but we had to limit the scope to finish the game in time. You can see the remnants of that from the "Age" on each selected human, which should be updating itself for every individual human (but apprently it isn't).

With this our plan was to force the player to make quick decisions when sacrificing your people. To get the highest score you should always try to sacrifice the color you have the most, but if you are running out of time you might have to settle on the second highest color. The more people of certain color you have, the easier they are to find. The three randomly chosen colors might be off from your lowest color, which obviously hurts your final score.

I appreciate all the criticism though! I agree with the things you brought up, there's definitely a lot to be improved in our game.

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

In a roundabout way by tiffi 2020-10-05T13:09:40Z

A cool idea having to follow the light while you are trying to mine things. And the graphics are nice as well. Opening the inventory causes the game to start lagging a lot though.

Word Garden by egordorichev 2020-10-05T12:55:14Z

Using the website with Firefox 81, it seems to start eating memory really fast. It took less than minute to fill the whole 16gb RAM on my laptop. Closing the tab frees it all almost immediately. mem.png

Chrono Kill by Giranath 2020-10-06T13:22:25Z

Agree with the above, a tutorial would help things a lot. It also looks like it might play better on a phone, playing it on PC the controls feel a bit wonky.

The graphics and sound effects are quite well made though.

Hamster Tank by elemel 2020-10-05T12:29:40Z

Neat idea with the looping map. The hamster tanks look weird, in a good way. The aiming is a bit rough so it's hard to hit anything. And the fire-rate could be a bit faster.

Wild Ride by CaptainDreamcast 2020-10-05T16:19:17Z

Really liked the game. One of my favorites from this Jam. The sound effects are good, the intro was fun, and it was challenging enough where finishing it was satisfying, but not too frustrating.

Dream Chaser by Sengi 2020-10-07T16:59:57Z

The mood was really nice. I'm really impressed by how polished this is. Great job! Love the simplistic mechanics as well.

The pixel art looks really good, and the gameplay is fun as well. Found a little bug, where if you keep pressing the jump button when you are jumping against one of the moving platforms in the third level, you can stay mid-air. Doesn't really cause any issues, but thought I'd report it anyway,.

Hiccup Time by Somogy 2020-10-08T18:36:22Z

Really nice looking art and music is decent as well. The idea is really cool. The hiccups were annoying especially in the spike corridor, but I did make it in the end. Had a lot of fun!

Total Shipwreck by Frogravity 2020-10-05T14:58:01Z

The idea is really good. The pirates get stuck on random places quite often, which makes it a bit frustrating to play at times. The music is also jarring.

The character models and animations are good..

Overall very impressive for a game made during a game jam.

Tomb of the Mummy RL by Eldar 2020-10-07T16:37:09Z

The ASCII graphics look really nice. And the theme (the whole tomb thing with the raiders) was well executed. Great job all around!

Crazy Running Cow by Vollfeiw 2020-10-05T11:56:09Z

A well-made game, quite enjoyable. Liked the graphics especially.

Loopin' Dungeon by Itskdog 2020-10-05T19:38:23Z

The pixel art looks great. Diagonal movement would help a lot with making the movement feel better. And the volume levels could use some work as well, the door opening sound is a lot louder than the rest of the sound effects.

But overall a solid game.

for egg in basket by indivicivet 2020-10-05T13:18:29Z

Agree with the comment that punishing for failure would make be good, to discourage spamming the keys. But it's a challenging game regardless. Enjoyed playing it for a few loops. Sound effects were well done as well.

Isolation by Tauheed Game Dev 2020-10-06T13:33:39Z

A nice little game. The pixel art looks really clean. The only criticism I have is that having the object name on the text box (like "chair") for example makes it look like it's the chair thinking and saying those thing, which was a bit confusing at first. But it's a minor nitpick.
