UhUhUhUh Staying Alive by Josh Ayres 2020-04-24T00:29:02Z
Really good job on mixing rhythm mechanics and a dodging game. The music really kept me going and the lil crowd animation really helped bring the game together visually.

Very confusing game at first. It took awhile for me to understand the premise and that I had to go scavenger hunting for what the alien wanted. But, once I got what I had to do... a roller coaster of a time. The escalation of the situations and the stupid amount of bullets. Had a grin on my face the whole time.
Wow, I played this with my friend over discord and the amount of super intense moments of the train going down hill and you tripping over yourself as the heart slows down was super awesome. Fucking fantastic lil game.
whether or not you were actually done with your game's assets liked the empty block out in-progress game dev aesthetic this game has. The empty void was actually really tranquil. I kinda felt that the chill meter going down actually made the game a bit more stressful than I was hoping for? Instead of just meandering through this landscape and trying to keep my mood/chill leveled I was so focused around thinking about a timer. I'm sure if you take the timer out the game won't really feel like there's an objective, but maybe something along the lines of like a smiley face UI indicating your chillness could have prevented the general sense of rush I felt when my meter started to go down. Anyways, just a small suggestion. I thought the movement and mood of this game was quite nice.
Overall one of the most fun games I played through this whole Jam. Took me a little bit to realize that the computer and the register were different entities, but once I realized that the game became super fun. I loved the idea that if the register gets too full items start to topple off and customers won't leave until you put the items back on and cash em out. Fun lil detail. If you do decide to expand upon this game more, I will say there needs to be more difference between human and special meat in terms of how it affects the timer. Around surviving over two minutes, by the time I fed and went back to the counter the timer was already about half way down. Otherwise super sick game!!
You really nailed the feeling of walking through tar and avoiding droplets of rain and water. A bit on the easy side, but still gave me moments of "oh shit i just barely dodged that".
Wow it's crazy how much i could relate to your observations and feelings about the delicacy of keeping ties with friends and acquaintances. A really calming experience. Neither too sad or saccharine, a beautiful ride. The movement also was super fun to zip around with. Idk, but somehow the push and pull of the movement really added to the reading experience. I think it's super hard to engage players into reading text in games, but you pulled it off great!
Love the encounters in this game. RNG heavy but in my play through I never felt as if I was getting too screwed.

Had a rough start figuring out how to harness the flinging mechanic. But once I understood that I can do quick successions of flinging when in water really elevated the depth and action of the gameplay. I felt the flail felt weaker in game than in the menu??? Had to really spam that guy when I failed a landing, but I learned quickly how to horde mid air flings so I barely flailed by the end. Music grew on me a lot as well as the gameplay started flow quicker.
A really unique interpretation of the theme. The mini map was helpful but I kinda wish that there was some kind of in game HUD element that let you know where the next asteroid closest to the ground would be. I felt extremely overwhelmed quickly, but that also may be because I'm not good at this game.
The game's aesthetic really gels well. Pulled of the PS1 graphics really well!! There were good tense moments, but I never really felt threatened. And AI felt like it gave up the chase a bit too easily. Does AI also follow your footprints at some points? Or are they all running a predetermined path?
I provided around 112 times, and even when the loop stopped expanding I kept playing cause the sense of unease felt so real! Super tight and fun game, love the deadpan dialogue choice in between the memorization loop. Pixel art is also pleasing. Wow. I want more!!! Only downside is the generic looking buttons.
Played single player, but will definitely ask my room mates to come play with me later. Fun simple creative levels with strong visuals.
Impressed by all the mechanics and details you guys put in! Carrying your mom around is hilarious. Only complaint is that the mini map wasn't really useful, at least in the web build cause it is too zoomed in.
Really like the animations and art for this. The purple haze and music fit well. I felt the movement was too slow. I had to hold down sprint the whole time and even then I couldn't confidently strafe enemies. Fun to play, but difficult to stay alive for long duration.
Even though there might not be a payoff (or maybe I'm just bad at playing this game) to feeding the heart, I really enjoyed exploring the world. Got it up to 90 seconds. I also loved how i kept finding new nooks and crannies after a successful blood run. I don't know if you open up more of the map the more blood you find, but really fun map to walk around in.
