LD55 — Summoning

The Weaver from the remote hamlet by Tyrannas 2024-04-16T19:02:12Z

A gorgeous game, the art on the spirits is incredible and the soft music gives a really great mystical air. I loved your take on the theme and the card mechanics were cool with new symbols opening up new possibilities. I did struggle to understand what each card does and how it's used, which can be fun to work out, but with the later days I found myself just brute forcing the solution which was a bit of a shame as the interplay between symbols seems really interesting if it can be understood! Other than that minor point a great game, definitely worth playing!

Clone fest by Tori 2024-04-16T17:42:12Z

I love the concept here and the little story. That opening cutscene really showed off your delightful art style. Gotta love the chaos caused by all the clones and not knowing which one you will get!

Riot in Hell by tthe 2024-04-17T11:09:59Z

A lot of info on the screen at once kinda overloads at first, I can see a fun little wave defense game, but struggled to figure out my way around initially. At later points the visuals on the right just becomes a screen of health bars which makes it a bit hard to see. If you took this further implementing some hover over tool-tips for the cards and maybe shrinking/colour coding friendly and enemy health bars.

The creature info screens were cool, and the game played really smooth which is great work for a Jam game, the gameplay itself was a bit simplistic as it was just copy the lines, as you mentioned added some difficulty would or hinting at the pattern needed would have added a lot to the gameplay. But as is was a decent little chill experience.

The game was fun, honestly the summoning attack might be a bit broken on a balance level but I had a real blast with it. You got a great variety of monsters in which is very impressive given the time frame. I do wish I had some UI to show me the cooldown on the summoning attack but other than that minor point really enjoyable! Great Work!

Hell's Kitchen by Zanar 2024-04-16T17:54:54Z

Love the simple art style, excellent use of coloured outlines really made it everything pop and colour coding your ingredients was a great touch to help players remember which ones they needed. I found the invocation bugged a few times for me and just wouldn't let me do the moves, had to restart a few times till it worked but definitely a fun little game, and really nailed that theme, well done!

Dear Gods by tapehead 2024-04-16T18:25:43Z

A charming entry! I really liked the cozy feel of the graphics and the prayer mechanic with the summoning of resources was really innovative and I can see a lot of potential in it. It took me a minute or two to figure out what was going on at first and I think I had a bug that at the end of the day my values were all zeros, but once I figured it out I had a bunch of fun!

Dicing with the Undead by picttarge 2024-04-16T18:16:10Z

I like the idea behind this game, and it was definitely fun summoning armies and getting those upgrades. I did struggle a little to understand what was going on with the battles and what the tiles were. Given more time some tooltip pop-ups I feel would resolve a lot of this. But given a weekend you have done amazing work! Well done.

One Hell of a Maid by ottos 2024-04-16T18:49:08Z

Wasn't entirely sure what was going on, might be worth putting a bit of setting info in your page description to let players know at least what the premise is. But once I clicked on enough things gathered I was cleaning the hotel room of a demon I think, which is a decent concept! Not sure if there is a reason for the inventory and I just didn't find it but you definitely have a decent mystery going.

I love the concept and the art, unfortunately I kept getting a crash on the second level, which is a real shame because I was really enjoying how the game was expanding with units. If you had more time it would have been great to see the units health bars so I could see how effective my troops were and also probably some balance to stop me just filling the whole screen with slimes at the beginning (as fun as that is! :) ). Had a blast, and for your first Jam really amazing work! Hope you keep it going for future jams!

Really cool idea, I love you implementation of the theme and the visuals when you summon something are slick. I did struggle around a bit before I realised I needed to click on the words to the right. And ended up kinda brute forcing the last significant puzzle. If you had more time it would have been great to have a small little tutorial/guide for the player and for the game to tell you when your very close (like you only have 1 word wrong or something). But overall really enjoyed this entry, well done!

Splinter Self by Chronicpain 2024-04-17T10:30:08Z

Neat little idea, as with others it took me a while to figure out I can switch the gun around, so got stuck a bit at the beginning but after that hurdle a nice little platform puzzler.

Hell Shift by AndrewByte 2024-04-16T19:16:45Z

Cool concept and I liked the drama of the opening scene. The gameplay itself was easy as you can move faster than the enemy it was quite easy to just run around the level and grab things to complete the game. Given more time it would be great to see some upgrades or similar for the player and some greater enemy variety. But well done for getting a game done in a weekend, no mean feat great work!
