LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Haha interesting game! I love the idea, and I don't think I've heard voice acting in any of the games yet. Good job!

Nice game! It feels a lot like an old game I used to play on my iPod, such a cool concept with the dodge fishing! Well done :D

Deepest Sword by Strega 2021-04-27T22:22:36Z

What a great game! Very well made, perfectly difficult and looks great for speed running! My favorite so far <3

Freg, Fregg, and Freggy: The Last Band by Honest Dan 2021-04-27T23:02:44Z

Really neat idea for the game! I love the artwork, it's so well stylized! The card mechanic is really cool, my suggestion would be to add visible or audible feedback when you play a card; it would add impact and make it feel like you were more active during the battle.

The environment generation and tiling is also a really cool idea, although I wasn't sure why I was choosing one location over another.

The music was great! I loved the smooth jazz, and the fact that you made it part of the story was really great.

Aww I loved it! What a neat game. I love the platforming and the breath mechanic; at first I wondered if it would be easier to just refill breath as soon as you enter a bubble, but I think it was an excellent choice to "pause" the player, so they could have time to think :) Really great mechanic and feeling. Great take on the theme. Good job!

Edit: The parallax in the background was subtle but such a great visual addition

Wow so many comments, well deserved! Great game, very well polished! If you add an endgame, it could be on a marketplace somewhere!

That Movie You Watched in Science Class... by Drell 2021-04-27T17:30:18Z

Good choice for music and sound effects! I really like the variety and look of the rocks under ground. Absolutely agree with @100th-coin ; it would be fun to race in this game against friends! Also I liked how the momentum felt and added a level of difficulty to the game that wasn't explicit but affected you over time.

The Wreck of the S.S. Adventure by Arcling 2021-04-27T17:50:02Z

This is such a cute game! I loved the music and watercolor art style, and the controls were really interesting; I loved the ballast indicator! The momentum felt good, although it was easy to take a lot of damage when you ran into the wall haha. The submarine and the enemies are so cute, hats off to the artist!

The intro took a very long time to print; I was tempted to skip it. I was also unsure what the sand dollars did. If you updated the UI and added some interesting world decorations, I would love to play this game again!

Ballast by Ekoxe 2021-04-27T23:15:23Z

Great audio, I loved how stressful it all felt together. Good job!

Nautilus by Tomas Poblete 2021-04-28T07:14:13Z

Loved the design of the walls and rocks! Also the current and making the music louder as you got deeper was brilliant.

Aquanomicon by Briibot 2021-04-27T21:23:11Z

Really cool game! I love the artwork and the idea of it. The book seems really well written! I found it difficult to complete recipes; I couldn't figure out how to place fish in the recipe book, it seemed like if I got an ingredient wrong it would just disappear.

I love the style though; the music added some great atmosphere and the visuals are very nice.

So good, what a great idea hahaha!

Egress by SirDuck 2021-04-27T05:50:46Z

@adam-k Thanks a bunch! The terminal idea was really interesting to work with. I absolutely agree; we spent so long making the game work, but the tutorial kinda got left behind :/

Egress by SirDuck 2021-04-27T21:26:22Z

@0hslash Yeah, we had an idea for showing the "xp" system and level ups, we had to scrap it to fix bugs though. Thanks a ton for playing it!

Egress by SirDuck 2021-04-28T00:46:54Z

Thanks for the feedback @rovernoon ! Totally agree, given more time those are exactly the kind of things we want to fix :)

Egress by SirDuck 2021-04-28T03:25:21Z

Thanks @infiniterecursionloop ! That's a really interesting idea, copying enemy programs, might have to try it out :) Yeah, sadly the bit counter and point notification got left behind; after getting 100 bits, each of your programs gets an additional point you get to work with!

Abisal by itssoisi 2021-04-27T22:41:36Z

I absolutely love the perspective you chose; the music and the deep-blue fog obscuring objects in the distance and then getting darker as you progress the levels adds so much to the feeling. Loved that intro in the last level!

It was difficult sometimes to tell what hitbox I touched, although that's a challenge when you make this kinda 2.5D style game I suppose. Well done! Nailed the theme.
