LD53 — Delivery

Fridge Floppers by Split82 2023-05-02T22:20:54Z

This is amazing. So many things to like here--clean visuals, great sound, the fail-fast design, the silly but polished controls. The physics felt very fair--the fridge never moved in an unexpected way, it was just because I hadn't learned to control it properly.

I think the only thing I'd change is I'd consider having the fridge start on the platform at the start of the level (rather than in the air). I lost many times immediately because I moved too quickly and the fridge just flew off. Keeping with fail-fast I think it'd be better to avoid having this happen so players can start a level the moment after it starts.

Game Genie: Crunch Time by LandoSystems 2023-05-03T18:43:55Z

Complete chaos! I agree that it definitely works in the game's favor and learning how to manage all the nonsense is part of the charm. Very fun!

Delivery Corp. by darwyn 2023-05-02T21:48:59Z

Great clicker-style game. I love the little newsfeed at the top!

P.S I won. Pigeons OP.

Postal Town by FreezedIce 2023-05-02T02:58:09Z

The graphics are incredibly well done, very clean and polished. Great job!

Souls on Board: The Styx Delivery Service by Boon 2023-05-02T21:35:50Z

Great audio design and theme! The controls are a bit frustrating as has been mentioned, though I feel that it's sort of the point--I think you could lean into it further and make the controls/physics a bit more fair while still remaining janky/silly.

Baby Boom by Whirlwind 2023-05-02T02:46:46Z

Thanks for playing and for the helpful feedback, we've updated the letters in the overlay hopefully be a bit more readable!

Baby Boom by Whirlwind 2023-05-04T07:15:38Z

@tetrapteryx @zettelkasten @zefphyer @3lstmsinatrenchcoat @adam-gaskins @trevor-lentz @ryabchik @peco @cortexdeveloper @freakyzelga @kasperhangard @lvl99chicken @rigel Thanks for all the feedback everyone! Glad people are enjoying it.

I updated the description to try to help clear up some of the timing confusion, but there's definitely some work to be done to make the timing clearer in a visual sense and the controls more intuitive.

Baby Boom by Whirlwind 2023-05-05T22:08:49Z

@yuriscat Glad you enjoyed it! We like to think the factory is designed to loop the babies back around into the chutes again if they miss the first time--like an airport luggage conveyor belt.

Baby Boom by Whirlwind 2023-05-05T22:11:14Z

@falk-hoeppner @dreunin Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, the controls definitely seem to be a point of contention here, we originally were going to allow any 3-letter combo within the grid and I'm glad we didn't 😅.

Baby Boom by Whirlwind 2023-05-07T10:51:25Z

@badcop Thanks for playing, the team had a blast watching to stream together. I'll repeat my comment in the description: A negative score on Hyperstar still counts as a high score 😅 it's a pretty major difficulty spike.

The Rum Run by BananaBobBert 2023-05-03T23:22:21Z

Beat the whole thing! This is incredibly well made especially for the time pressure. Didn't expect a bullet hell game! I particularly liked the balance between "puzzle-like" enemies where you have to figure out the right place to stand and more execution-heavy enemies where you need to constantly move around and dodge.

I don't love the system of losing a power-up every time you get hit, it just feels kind of bad, but I'm not sure how you'd balance the game without it. I think the mermaids could be toned down a bit also, the homing attacks stay on the screen just a bit too long.

Tattered Tunics by tetrapteryx 2023-05-02T18:33:11Z

This a creative use of the theme and a fun swordfighting/parrying game. The AI is very well done.

I think the only thing I'd add is some kind of buffer system for inputs, it felt like my inputs were getting eaten if I pressed a button during an animation. Pressing multiple buttons (like if I pressed up or down while I was holding forward or back) also seemed to eat my input.

Virus Load by soundgnome 2023-05-02T19:08:23Z

It's really satisfying to collect more virus and take down larger enemies. As has been said, I think a feature that allows for some kind of dodging would be helpful since it's basically impossible to dodge the things flying at you once the snake gets really long.

Cozy Crane Master by Dender46 2023-05-02T19:39:13Z

Great graphics and music, and really fun to use the physics to get boxes into the boat faster. I agree with the suggestion of being able to pick up multiple boxes--this game makes me just want to fling giant stacks of boxes around!

Spider Sorter by the_martijn 2023-05-03T18:35:06Z

Fun concept! It's really satisfying once it gets rolling.

I agree the lead time on the first belt could use a bit of an extension, the game is quite punishing right now.

A Bag by Zhiteng Chen 2023-05-05T02:04:11Z

Out of all the games I've played in Ludum Dare 53, this was certainly one of them

EneRail by Ryabchik 2023-05-02T19:30:32Z

Pretty cool puzzle game! The graphics and music in particular are polished and really well done.

Egg Panic by RobLaro 2023-05-02T22:30:29Z

The visuals are cute and the whole game is really well polished. Great game!

Asteroid Miner by BalimaarTheBassFish 2023-05-02T21:13:44Z

Classic asteroids! The asteroid visuals are great.

There's a couple things around the edges that could use some polishing--I think the ship should turn a bit slower (although honestly, you could lean into the idea of the ship having wacky physics) and I got lost off the side of the screen a few times.

Pigeon Express by Dmon22 2023-05-02T21:22:31Z

I really like the control scheme and physics here, it's creative and leads to a lot of fun/silly interactions.

COLD CHEDDAR by deadjolly 2023-05-02T03:10:51Z

The graphics, polish, and audio design are really well done here. I think the game could use a bit more UI work and feedback to help the player understand what's going on.

Hedgie's Letter Hunt by Blueanoli 2023-05-02T20:55:11Z

Pretty fun platformer. Cute graphics and great music/vibe!

Parcel Madness: The Last Delivery by Grocek 2023-05-03T02:34:03Z

We had this idea while brainstorming, great to see it executed! The change in movement from when you're holding the package and not is a really good idea that mixes up the gameplay.

LD54 — Limited Space

One Step Further by justking144 2023-10-17T22:46:52Z

Interesting idea, the graphic style is really cool. As has been said, I think some more feedback to the player would help a lot--it's not made clear that the player's actions are actually affecting the game.

[ Space ] by Whirlwind 2023-10-18T18:55:11Z

Thanks everyone for playing! Definitely agreed that that a bit more instruction might've been helpful--especially just telling the player to use the mouse. We intentionally tried to keep it minimal since we think figuring out what each tool does is part of the fun, but there's a balance.

2048 - Space Corp Limited by Heremeus 2023-10-18T18:50:02Z

Great, simple automation game!

Pazuru Packing Sushi by Gabreu 2023-10-18T18:30:09Z

Chill pizzler! Great visuals and music with some interesting challenge. I do think it could be a little more clear what exactly needs to be put into each order--it can be hard to see the differences between similar sushi in the small images.
