I dont know what clicking does :(

vivid-hallucination 2023-10-08 20:28

This is definitely a sysiphean task

yoss-iii 2023-10-08 20:30

interesting idea and graphics!

*SPOILER*

might have been cool if there was more interactivity to trick the player into thinking they can win

Wow! Graphically, I find it astonishing! How did you manage to create those animations with those skeletons? It can't have been easy! What I don’t quite understand is how to play; I click when prompted and it turns green, but it’s true that I fail once or twice and lose. I wonder if it would be good to add a tutorial or, if you haven’t had time, an explanatory GIF or video. Aside from that, I find it an interesting approach to game creation, like trying to ascend a rock without perishing in the attempt. Great entry!

When I click it doesn't seem to change much. The idea isn't bad, but I think it was missing something to make it work.

Interesting approach to graphics. Also nice motivational conclusion.

It ain't a game...

@milq I followed a tutorial on making a verlet physics engine in js for the basics of keeping the figures together and expanded off of that, scrapping most of the actual physics and velocity and adjusting the positions over time either with a sin wave or moving things manually. After that, it was mostly trial and error to make everything look and move right. I still wanna add a lot more and make some changes to how things move over time. Plus, I do think the gameplay needs work.

@2thegamechanger clicking speeds you up and after each reset, clicking increases speed by a larger chunk. I originally had plans to make the speed slow down as you approached the top, requiring more and more clicks but I never got around to this

Really interesting graphics! Interaction with the clicking could have been expanded a little, maybe with some anticipation to see when the click would be coming up or some stronger feedback to know if a click had been successful or not.

Interesting idea, the graphic style is really cool. As has been said, I think some more feedback to the player would help a lot--it's not made clear that the player's actions are actually affecting the game.

It's an interesting concept for a rhythm game but I have to say it leaves a lot to be desired. I think the main thing is it didn't really feel like my clicking was actually doing anything - he would push or fall at any time he wanted rather than in reaction to my input. Visually it's quite unique, maybe some sound effects could help tie it all together. At the end of the day it's not terrible though

I really liked the nodes-and-lines art style! I would have enjoyed some additional feedback about the effect of my actions.

Nice idea, I really loved the graphics and all the little animations for the clouds, sisyphus and the ball !

There isn't much gameplay however, it's basically a rhythm game in which you press a button every 4 seconds lol, but the game is rather short so that's not much of the problem, since the focus is clearly on the story telling and on the deception of the player's expectations.

Maybe try to improve the clicking mechanic, like make it go faster and faster as Sisyphus goes faster ?

One must imagine Sisyphus happy...
