LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Hyper Keepy Ups Turbo by nanolotl 2022-04-17T18:12:25Z

I liked there was so much going on and a good mix of shooter mechanics. It was pretty clear visually too with red enemies and bullets and the shadow beneath the ball. Just thought the game was loading or stuck at the splash screen because there was no prompt to start the game so I ended up pressing random keys until I got into the game.

The End Of Days by Anson Rutherford 2022-04-07T00:07:56Z

The Atlus style difficulty curve was in full effect with the first level being the hardest. Didn't get it at first when I kept clicking and exploding but I figured it out—you press the move keys to move. Pretty cool aesthetics and audio. The cutscenes and dialogue really tied the mood together too.

Seems like a lot of people went for melancholic but I guess the theme will do that, you nailed it with the subject matter and the mechanic—I thought it was done pretty well to break up the pacing and telegraph scene breaks.

The narrative was well written too, with you revealing information about the characters over the course of the conversation. Sometimes it's done poorly when it seems like the writing is hiding information for no reason, but the progression felt deserved in this game.

Sack Attack by Nate_Bit_Games 2022-04-09T02:16:13Z

Very QWOP-like and addicting fun. The music and the sound effects are great too. Would have liked pressing Space to restart the game instead of Enter to get back into the game faster and play more.

The hit box on the foot was a little small but I eventually adapted somewhat. The best I could get was 62 for a record high, but it says record high every time I play—not sure if bug or joke. Don't know if there's an Easter egg for hitting 420 and don't think I'll ever find out.

Wormageddon by MatterLinx 2022-04-07T16:36:59Z

I didn't read the tips until it was too late—I tried to play it like a Souls game and roll with invincibility frames. So I didn't get far for a while. The game was really good and well polished when I got into it. Everything's great.

Thought the game was broken when I couldn't figure how to get past the intro text, but you just have to wait for a while. A click to continue would be nice for the speed readers.

You shall not pass by Senso 2022-04-07T00:21:20Z

Was going to complain about triggering dialogue every time you bump into the NPCs but you were meta enough with the voice acting so I'll give it a pass. It was pretty funny. When I started the game I thought there was something wrong with the controls, but it was a built in tutorial in the level selection—well designed. Really liked this one.

DO NOT Explode by Zyang 2022-04-17T17:47:25Z

I Imagine it would be a fun party game with multiplayer since it's already pretty good playing against bots. It's a little snowbally since once you get hit by one item, you can get stunlocked by more, but the balance might feel better when playing with other players since party games don't need to be that fair. Don't really like the warning symbol as a spawn indicator—it's not very intuitive that you're supposed to run towards them. Other than that, the graphics look good and the game's well polished.

Unremembered by White Rice 2022-04-09T01:48:01Z

The mood of it was very pensive, from the concept to the music to the monologue texts. It felt almost mocking when the game tells you to have fun when you start it.

I'm a speed reader, so I'm going to have this complaint about every game: would have liked to be able to click the text to make it instantly show the entire line. Also the cutscene triggered every time you got near an item, but I think it would be more thematic for it to only trigger once—since you're going for the memory angle in addition to helping out the gameplay pace.

Didn't know what I was supposed to do at first because the first jump was a little big but I eventually got used to the physics being floaty. Having the first jump like that was kind of like a tutorial so I think it was a well placed obstacle.

The Splat! Zone by PostPostScript 2022-04-09T02:00:31Z

I like how it plays and the music and the aesthetics are a real throw back. With a smaller color palette it would remind me of an old Atari game.

My only issue with the game was the difficulty curve: the game gets easier the as it progresses because its harder to play when there are a lot of bugs but pretty easy when you are down to your last one or two.

The instructions were a bit text heavy for me but the game was intuitive enough to pick up by just playing it.

Nature Is Healing by KingOfSpill 2022-04-17T18:25:59Z

Nice mood and a spooky atmosphere. I liked that the gameplay was pretty fast for a survival game. You can fall behind super quickly if you don't manage the mold since the flamethrower makes the fuel explode so the map can quickly become inaccessible. Being able to move the fuel added some strategy too. The only issue I had was picking up fuel when I meant to shoot because they are both on left click.
