LD53 — Delivery

Postal puzzle by Thinkofname 2023-05-09T19:45:36Z

Pretty impressive considering you built everything from scratch. You may not have that many levels, but the ones you do have are well designed. Quality over quantity always wins me over.

My main critique would be that the movement - especially on WASD - feels a bit sluggish and inflexible, because you intuitively want to be moving diagonally, which the game doesn't allow (most likely for technical reasons, I assume). This lead me to at one time accidentally pushing a box into a corner and forcing me to reset.

It's a cute little game! The graphics are simple but effective, and it is quite amusing to drift around a station trying to get in.

One small bit of feedback that I do have is that when you are in a region without asteroids, because the background doesn't move you can't actually tell whether you're moving. At one point I was holding the brakes to test them out, and almost slammed into an asteroid because I didn't realise they were moving me backwards! :D

That was quite a fun game! I didn't think it was all that challenging up until the last level: I probably spent as long as that one as on all the others combined! However, the core mechanic is solid and for a one person project it's a solid effort!

Very atmospheric, the music and visuals worked very well together! My main gripe was the immune system "attacks" were so fast I found it came down primarily to luck whether I'd get hit or not. However, solid gameplay loop with a nice build-up!

All Odium Needs Is Love! by Skvader_418 2023-05-09T22:56:37Z

Both the story and the art are really cute, and the gameplay is straightforward and effective. I originally had a hard time because I didn't know you could "kill" the clouds, but once I figured that out it became a lot easier. My only real gripe is that the clouds around the NPCs are very small (at least on my resolution), making them very difficult to see. Other than that, a solid entry!

I really enjoyed playing this! The graphics are very effective, the music is nice (if maybe sliiiiightly repetitive after a while), the core game loop is solid and a lot of fun, and the game also matches the theme very nicely. Definitely my favourite LD53 game so far!

My only real gripe is that sometimes, you simply can't find the resource being asked for directly, requiring you to spend money that you may not have to explore the map, which can feel a bit unfair. And I did also initially thought the slow digging was lag rather than an intentional delay. But those are just minor criticisms of what is otherwise a really solid effort! Well done!

Harpoon Lagoon by Adam Gallina 2023-05-04T19:23:34Z

Very nice and mellow game! The music is very soothing, and the catching mechanic is solid.

I could not find a Felippe fish, so I couldn't complete the order. Is it just very rare, or is that a bug?

I liked the fast-pacedness (is that a word?) of the game, but unfortunately I did encounter quite a few physics issues because of it (falling through floors, sliding up walls, box jump not working consistently). I did however like your art, and the minimap is a nice feature!

The idea of tying the movement to the relative mouse position is an interesting idea, although in combination with the grappling hook a bit too cumbersome for me: I didn't feel like I had properly gotten the hang of it by the time I finished the game. Nevertheless, the bouncing around is quite fun!

@thefatgalaboo I mean the character moving in the direction the "joystick" is pointing rather than towards the cursor. That threw me for a loop a couple of times - in a good way!

At first I wasn't sure what to think, but I feel the puzzles really came through (14 in particular was very clever), and beating all of them was pretty satisfying. I did think the music was somewhat repetitive, and I felt the bright colours of the artwork clashed a bit as well. However, you did put a very neat spin on the theme!

Deliver the Gem! by SlickClyde 2023-05-09T20:15:05Z

Cute game! I do like the concept of only having one shot and then having to retrieve it, but with the current parameters I feel it's just a tad too difficult - I felt like I did need some luck to land my shots. I think a bigger projectile would already help a lot with this.

The art is simple but effective - every individual element reads well. It's a shame there wasn't any sound, but I very much understand running out of time in that department.
