LD47 — Stuck in a loop

May I have some time loops? by someoneman 2020-10-07T22:20:36Z

Very nice :)

Maybe it's there and I just missed it, but it would have been nice to be able to clear your past selves as sometimes I'd mess it up for me before I figure out the solution and all my ghosts are sabotaging.

Still, very clever!

LD53 — Delivery

Air Delivery by pianoman373 2023-05-07T22:32:55Z

This is remarkable on its own and especially for being done in a weekend AND in Pico 8 where you make everything yourself. Very complete and polished experience. Wow! Hats off

The Time I was Reincarnated as a Delivery Driver in a Video Game and had to ... by AMastryukov 2023-05-08T02:22:59Z

Managed to 100% the game (not that it was easy!)

Positives: - A lot of time was spent on the art which turned out really well - Everything felt pretty cohesive - Map had a lot of care put into it and it was fun learning the way around it

Few points of critique: - The way the minimap doesn't rotate with the car can be really disorienting. It might've also benefitted from being zoomed out a bit - Getting 100% was very reliant on luck since you can still get packages for girls you've already made love you. I got 6 Demon girl packages in a row once! Something to counteract this would've been nice - Level felt a bit cramped at times - Just the act of driving could've been made more interesting

Overall it was a pleasant experience and the presentation was nice, with some room for improvement (as there always is). Well done!

Fuscus and The Garlic Kin by Buumiii 2023-05-06T14:13:16Z

A game about frogs making garlic bread is one you know I have to play 🐸

The graphics are cute and the sounds are pleasing. I didn't quite understand what function throwing my baby frog filled however- I suspect it wasn't completely implemented. I was stuck at the very beginning for a bit because I didn't realise I could jump in the air! Might be worth bringing attention to.

Great work, especially for your second jam, and best of luck on the next one! 🐸

What a cool game but what a cruel game. Was playing on hard mode too!

Music and sound design is top-notch. The animations and sounds are detailed and make the game just feel really responsive. The player controller is very polished but some oddities remain, particularly around walls. Like I can't really jump along walls, and you can get kind of hold onto the wall, not falling, without being able to jump. The dash is cool but I kept finding that it didn't work when I pressed the button- I think I wasn't timing pressing the direction correctly. Some kind of buffer or wiggle room would've alleviated this issue.

Some of the challenges required more precision than I feel the controls are suited for, as you're a bit slippery. This is particularly felt in that last ascent. Also I'd make the spike hitbox slightly shorter as it kept killing me when I was standing on ground level with it in that stair bit.

But it was a fun game, it was a complete game and I enjoyed this game til the end, with some struggle. You should be very pleased with your efforts.

(Also I'd just like to point out that this game bares a striking resemblance to this terrible game I worked on for another jam a while ago. https://grommitchio.itch.io/tefl-castle Only works on Edge of all browsers. You will be hearing from my lawyers shortly)

Great job with the update. The timer was a good addition- it's a lot of fun to speedrun! Only problem is there's no quick restart, so whenever you want to try again you need to rewatch the opening cutscene. Since I enjoyed your game and wanted to get a good speedrun of it, I cloned it off github and added a quick restart myself. It takes 1 minute to implement so I recommend you add it to your web build if you care to

Anyway, I was convinced this game was beatable in under a minute. It is! Here's what it looks like. Enjoy. https://youtu.be/LhgMyy1wlTU

Door Dashers by Grizwhirl 2023-05-06T13:21:59Z

Very ambitious! It's like Crazy Taxi with food, and it took me a while to realise the title's reference. I'm surprised you managed to include multiple cars, a menu which seems like it could support multiple maps with the 3D preview, a variety of delivery items, and of course the top-notch voiceover. The presentation is nice, and the sheer amount of content is impressive considering the time-frame. That in mind, I would try to prioritise the core gameplay first, as the driving and camera could use some tuning, as you're aware. I was getting a bit motion sick. My main advice for next time would be to scope down a bit so you're given time to polish. That said, I'm impressed that you even managed to deliver a minimum viable product (and then some!) over a weekend.

Well done!

Ps. My highscore was 384 (if I recall)

Planet Xpress by Retrific 2023-05-06T14:29:54Z

Cool game, I'm a fan of the art. Controlling the rocket is actually really pleasing and I like how everything you need to know can be seen on the rocket itself (intra-diegetic!). Very nice!

Nice game!

This feels like a complete game, so you scoped it well. The mechanics were simple but pleasing. Chucking boxes and tombstones was quite fun. I like how the blob you play as carries the boxes in spite of its bugginess (obligatory in game jams!).

The limited lives might make the game a bit frustrating to some. It also creates a problem where if I lose a few too many lives on level 2 for example, I'm inclined to start over from the beginning simply because I don't think I can finish the rest of the game with too few lives, and I'd rather start over straight away than game over in a few levels.

Another issue is the physics or weight of the props could use a bit of tweaking as I'm sometimes falling through the tombstones and into some spikes. The packet would bounce from where I threw it and into spikes on occasion as well, at which point it cannot be picked up since you can't pick up things you're standing on.

But! Overall the impression is very good and for your first game jam you should be very proud indeed.

I beat the game in 275.04 seconds

Witch Brunnette by joao-marcello 2023-05-08T02:37:00Z

A really neat little game with a lot of attention to detail. I love the little sounds when you fly up on your broom along with the trail, I really enjoy the bounce shot mechanic, the difficulty progresses nicely, the magic bolts you shoot follow the bats in very subtle (but appreciated) way. It's all really nice. I love trying to bounce-shot all my ingredients at once. I'd add some music for sure but overall this game is really fun!

What pleasant little game. It gets very tricky indeed!

I'm not much the sort for puzzle games but I played this one all the way through and had fun doing so.

Great work!
