LD30 — Connected Worlds

Heart Star by AdventureIslands 2014-08-25T07:29:00

Holy cow this is solid for a game jam game!
Maybe it was just the darker colors or maybe I saw an unbalance of spikes but I felt like blue's world was a bit harsher than red's which kinda (at least in my own head) gives it an even more interesting narrative.

I really like the concept but having a person float off the screen feel's like it makes the game too hard especially when the game is already pretty challenging.

That art style is really really awesome but I think it sorta looses it's touch with objects that are closer to the camera and you can see it's 2D-ness.

also I think some spooky ambient sounds are the only thing the game needs to really solidify that creepy 'walking around the house at night' feeling.

Hearts Nexus by Serena 2014-08-25T07:20:00

This game is super adorable, I like how there is almost never any perfect matches.
maybe that's the metaphor their worlds may be connected but they are still different worlds.

Soulmates by Jiyambi 2014-08-25T09:01:00

Really Really enjoyed this one, the overall theme is extremely cute but so is the the sfx, music and art style.

I've been trying to leave advice on what people could do better but I honestly can't think of much other than it was hard to tell the paths apart when two people have the same hair color. good job!

Antipole Seasons by lantto 2014-08-25T09:12:00

didn't know it was possible to die from sadness!
I guess that's what I get for banishing the west into a thousand years of darkness.

Catgirl, Save The Moon! by Tovip 2014-08-24T23:26:00

@wolfmother (I don't know how to respond on here)
if you download the source version it comes with the actual game in a .zip hopefully that one works :(

A Sneeze A Day Keeps The Crates Away by Draknek 2014-08-25T06:48:00

I didn't really understand the sneezing mechanic during the first level or so I just kinda pushed blocks around until they fit but when I finally got it I thought it felt pretty good BECAUSE I didn't fully understand it at first.

Although, maybe I'm just a simpleton, but I felt like the broom made it a little too complex because it REALLY upped the range of options having to think about where the dust could be plus trying to plan ahead moving the dust in all four directions.

The art is cute, I feel like the game could have done without the backfire mechanic though and have just relied on shooting at the ground to jump around.

Ghosts by sunnray 2019-04-30T08:54:33Z

I can't quite figure out what the mechanics are yet but I managed to get an ending screen twice, I like how mysterious the mood is! it makes me want to figure out the exact mechanics.

Witchunter Mugi by ustance 2019-04-30T11:53:49Z

That was a ton of fun! I ended up playing for quite a while, the art was very cute and the overall polish is really impressive. The boss patterns were very fun to learn but I wish more items spawned in the hub area, I ended up with much more skulls than I was able to use and was spending a lot of time walking around the map. I'm excited to see where it could go if you ever end up continuing to work on the game :)

Pucamuc by Mors 2019-04-30T12:16:43Z

That was really cool! I got stuck in the secret area above near when the bouncing blocks were introduced and ended up dying from hitting my head too many times on the ceiling spikes. Maybe I was missing a mechanic you get later on? even so it was a lot of fun figuring out creative ways to get into that little nook.

Koe by velvetlobster 2019-04-30T09:05:05Z

I really like that the game has cuts like a movie would! particularly my impression at the beginning was that the aesthetic and pacing was really intense in a good way but as the game went on being reset over and over and not knowing exactly why gets a little frustrating.

Life Having Left Me by impuuuu 2019-04-30T12:36:21Z

I tried playing through a couple of times but colden't quite figure out how you're supposed to gain life back. I was able to clear a few battles but my life would just slowly drain after each battle, maybe that was the intended metaphor of helplessness?

MoneyChange by JoeyAsagiri 2019-04-30T09:15:51Z

Reminds me a lot of the nes game 'gimmick!' I like the idea of having to think outside the box with the mechanics to 'break' them but some parts were way too tricky that once I had gotten past it the first time I found myself not wanting to do it again after I reset.

Designated Victim by toasteater 2019-04-30T08:25:36Z

The bullet patterns were awesome! I beat the boss but I am still a little unclear how exactly the health system works but I'm sure that'd be easier to pick up on with a second playthrough. (I'm terrible at reading in game tutorials)
