LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Time Surge 2: Clean Up Time by HitchH1k3r 2020-10-07T17:21:55Z

I am probably not understanding the mechanics, but it appears that the object I 'unstuck' in time is resetting position every loop, which it shouldn't?image.png

This is the only game in this jam (of the ones I've played so far) that manages to capture part of the atmosphere of a horror game.

I'm not sure what to do after getting the key...

Ferrovia Folle (Crazy Railway) by Marco Stagni 2020-10-05T22:39:29Z

I like the graphics, especially the menu presentation, but the aesthetic is inconsistent - for example, the boulder sprite does not match the other game assets, and the resolution of the menu buttons contrasts with the in-game pixel art. I like the idea, but there are a few things that make it really difficult to play. The most obvious to me is the mapping between the shortcuts and the rails - the mapping between the numbers and directions is a little unintiutive, even if there is a reason behind it. Also, I don't know if this is a bug on my end, but placing a track on top of another track displays both tracks at once and doesn't chance the direction of the train, which means that there is no way to fix your mistakes, which is frustrating.

The instructions have a typo in them - it says to go left, press 'Q' instead of 'A'. The control method is interesting, though it causes a lot of finger strain in the long term. Also, the game ends without warning, as you can't tell the section of road you're biking on is collapsing until it has already collapsed. I really like the graphics and music, but I think the gamefeel needs a bit of work. P.S. Who made the models besides the character and bike?

Phil Alone by Gabriel Dias Oliveira de Almeida 2020-10-05T22:57:31Z

I've gotten either 3 or 4 of the endings, and I really like the concept. However, after collecting the lighter in one day, I couldn't get it in any subsequent days - is that intentional?

Revenge of the zombie attack by Sabeurre 2020-10-06T16:55:53Z

I really like the zombie and weapon sprites :)

Born To Die by oddarock 2020-10-06T16:31:24Z

Having a tutorial and levels you can enter separately is a really nice improvement over most games (including my own, whoops). The way that the different stages of life interact is also great. The physics is a bit jank (I got stuck inside of a platform once) and I wish there was a way to manually drop a dead creature, instead of being at the mercy of the engine, but I like this game a lot nonetheless.

I really enjoyed the toned-down humor - it's funny without trying too hard. There's a little engine jank, but very good overall.

40 Days Till Impact by NotSoEpicGames 2020-10-06T17:43:44Z

I think that a bug results in only the oil put into storage being transferred between loops, making the game basically impossible to win. Also, about half of my runs result in me being unable to create anything, even if I have the resources necessary. (I think you guys over-scoped a bit.) I really appreciate the tutorial though, and the concept is worth exploring.

The Serpent of Scorhill by Jofish 2020-10-07T17:05:12Z

I agree generally about the directions being overly verbose and vague, and I think having the default setting be so slow is an initial turn-off, but overall I think the game is great! The twist on an established game and integration of the theme is fantastic (though I wouldn't say anything is 'stuck' per se), and the art is really good as well. The rest of the complaints you bring up weren't really issues to me.

I beat it in about 40 seconds. The graphics are excellent, but the player is really hard to control - though that's probably deliberate.

I want to go by Bithellio 2020-10-06T16:44:15Z

This is really good for your first game!

Shadow of Archimedes by Eckkert 2020-10-06T00:28:32Z

Excellent. The only things I would change would be to make it clearer what the function of the machines was when they are placed on the ground.

Frozen Potency by Eugenik 2020-10-07T00:12:39Z

The game looks and sounds fantastic - how did you make this all in three days?

(Nu) Da Drum by Trexxak 2020-10-06T01:38:29Z

Though the game engine is a tad broken, I can see and feel that this is an intensely personal game, and I think it communicates the intended experience incredibly well.

Cow.

satans car shop by JulieLopez 2020-10-07T16:17:03Z

I had the same issue as Jelle - I don't know how to play. Is this more of an interactive experience than a game?

Pixel Dance Party by Felix Kraus 2020-10-06T16:16:55Z

I really like the idea, but the execution needs some polishing. The most critical issue is that the visuals freeze up at random times, resulting in the loop becoming out of sync with the music. Also, you need to explain the mechanics a bit further - I'm still unsure what the colored squares are supposed to do. An easy change you can do without changing the game is write the directions on the submission page (e.g. 'Use the arrow keys to...')

PlaceBlock by VCoder12345 2020-10-06T15:58:21Z

I...don't know how to play your game. (Why is there a JAR inside of a ZIP?)

Return 0; by IkerNoya 2020-10-05T23:10:29Z

I can see that a lot of effort went into this! I like it overall, but there are a few things I would nitpick: 1) I think that the gameplay is better suited to open areas like the first and boss fight, as opposed to the second room (which is basically a corridor, as there is no benefit of going into the adjacent rooms) 2) Since there is no health bar, it's hard to take your health into account when engaging in combat.

Loopy by Flying Basement Studios 2020-10-07T16:09:25Z

It's impressive how much difficult gameplay you managed to get out of a simple basic mechanic. Bravo!

RECoil by ThanielPIN 2020-10-06T16:08:01Z

Excellent aesthetic control, great game-feel, and cool mechanic. An extra challenge for anyone else playing: none of the stages require you to use all three loops.

You need to add a link to your game.
