LD42 — Running out of space

Ghost Cleaner by akai_0okami 2018-09-02T16:47:15Z

This was a really cute game! I liked how the tutorial gradually led you into how the game works, and the way it was written. The fact that the person leaves objects related to different rooms in different places was also a nice touch! Sometimes I found it a bit confusing to see and figure out which object was supposed to go where, but with some trial and error I picked it up :) Overall nice job!

Running Out of Space by karmo 2018-08-21T12:36:58Z

I liked the narrative here, it felt fun! I did struggle to figure out the commands you could use across different items/places, which at times was frustrating; if it was possible to give some clues on occasion, this could perhaps help! I agree with @marcenat that it is a little too easy to get lost early on, but like the map as a visual guide! I think it's got great beginnings (esp considering the time constraints it was put together under), and with more framework for the player/allowance for different player interactions, it could be super :-)

MNTL BLCKS by Steve Sparkes 2018-08-17T20:34:00Z

@sn4pi thanks so much for your kind words and feedback :) We were aiming for that combination of ridiculousness and brief unexpected moments of relatability, so I'm glad it came through! We also agree that more sound effects and music would have enhanced the game; in the future hopefully we can include more touches like that with a bigger team/carefully planned scope!

@jern @chao and @rialgar , thanks for your encouragement and feedback, we really appreciate it! Super glad to hear you guys found the writing funny; if it got at least one smile/laugh-snort out of you then we're stoked about that (regardless of what Emile/ticket guy would say ;)). We're also really happy that the art came across well!

Definitely see where you are coming from on the puzzle suggestions @rialgar ; we will for sure have a think about the randomness and what it adds/takes away from the experience! And we will look into sound effects/music if we have time too :)

MondrianCraft by kromeboy 2018-08-21T13:02:42Z

I enjoyed the game - I thought it was a creative theme (the painting blocks) and fit nicely with the 'running out of space' idea! I got a bit confused at points how to know which blocks can join together, but otherwise I found it a fun puzzle. Nice job :)

Day Three by EdwinGameDev 2018-08-21T12:51:19Z

I accidentally clicked through the first part of the instructions when I first played and was unable to go back, so didn't do very well on my first play-through. But otherwise it was a really cute and fun game; the art and small walking sound effects are neat!

City Gardener by PacoChan 2018-09-02T16:39:59Z

This was a fun game and really pretty too! The music fit the vibe really well, and the plants were satisfying to grow (which is useful for a game about growing plants hehe) :) . The only thing for me was that it was a bit tricky to see what was going on since everything was quite close in POV; if there was a way to see things a bit further back/overall that could be helpful! I guess that may in some ways make the game easier, but it could also allow people to be more strategic in their moves. Overall though really nice game!

Ludum Dare Simulator 2019 by samboyer276 2018-08-23T20:19:33Z

This was super fun to play! I loved the variety of mini games, and the fact that you were able to complete each one to such a great level of finish was kind of incredible. I liked the humour that was woven into the game overall, and the replayability of trying to focus on different mini games, seeing if you can improve, comparing your overall scores at the end...minor thing is that I got confused on where to drag and drop the code blocks to, but once I found out it was super straight forward. Really nice and well rounded game :)

The Subway: horror within by Bibilega 2018-08-15T12:39:50Z

As everyone else is saying, the art is super good! Nice incorporation of the sound effects too, they work really well :)

You Wanna Pizza Me? by Elowan 2018-08-21T20:10:07Z

This was a really neat game! The idea that everybody is cut-throat about pizza is pretty hilarious, and the soundtrack in the background really complements it. I didn't realise at times when I'd delivered pizzas because I'd expected a sound effect as there had been at other points in the game, so that would be a nice extra touch to have if possible - but regardless this was a fun game, so good job :)

Claustrophobia (the walls are closing in) by CBdeVilla 2018-09-02T17:12:24Z

This was a really neat game that totally played to the theme well! I wasn't very good at getting all the bugs, but the feeling of claustrophobia was certainly there hehehe. Nice work!

Night Shift by lootgrounds 2018-08-15T23:07:37Z

The atmosphere of this game was really great - the low lighting, ticking clock, and tight setting were all really nice touches. The writing, where it did come in, was also really cool - from the bit on a poster, to the emails. If you get the chance to add more content in these forms (and maybe more like others said), that would be great.

Unfortunately on my laptop I couldn't interact with anything outside of the computer screen (unless I was not supposed to, in which case it was fine!); I could see flashes coming up on the screen in certain rooms but was unsure how to do anything about them. I'm curious to know more about how you guys came up with the idea against the theme, and look forward to seeing more if you guys update it!

GRIDLOCKED by bradleypollard 2018-08-15T22:46:56Z

I like the clean minimal design of the game, and it's satisfying seeing the colour-changes to signal success/failure! I did get a bit confused about how to use the wire-mode at first; I was also wondering if there would be brackets in level 5 so you could specify (1+1) to be multiplied etc. Overall a neat puzzle game though, fun and nice to look at too!

Oh, sh*t! — Ludum Dare #42 — Running out of space by xPheRe 2018-08-15T22:54:33Z

Funnily enough we ended up doing a game with a similarish part (fitting blocks into a tetris-style grid)! As @thomas-lessa said, the sound and graphics are great! I hit game over (I believe) and didn't seem able to restart, but enjoyed it nonetheless (and realise it's a wip).

Uninstall by Deadeyejoe02 2018-08-21T20:54:21Z

This was a super fun and cute game! I really liked the art style and the different challenges you had to complete for each type of app. Unfortunately the game seemed to hit a bug when I got to Snaptalk, and the screen went blank. I also hit one before when I was first trying to load the game, and one of the intro pieces of texts wouldn't disappear even when I hit 'space'. But overall it was a clever and humourous game, really nice work putting it together!
