Well done. At first I had difficulty with the controls, but when I entered full screen I could navigate. The spacebar (select) is a bit tricky as well so I went with the mouse control for aiming at the cards. Sometimes the text overlaps when giving information. Music was descent. I like the characters and the cards. Good job on drawing them! Good vibes overall! Good Job!
Managed to complete the collection! Loved how the rich kid had good cards with anti-synergy Collect.png Anyway, this was awesome! Definitely biased here but I loved your take on the theme :) The graphics & sound here were both great and funny, really liked them. The card minigame was also fun, a Salamto I picked off the floor near the start definitely carried me. Speaking of picking cards off the floor, it felt like they ruined the balancing a bit, but it doesn't matter too much considering the game's length and it is a good anti-frustration measure. All the little effects & tutorial were great touches too. Overall just a very well done & fun game, amazing entry!

Overall a very well made and fun little compo game. The controls feels a bit weird and there are sometimes the text begin to stack on top of each other. But overall still a really good compo game. Well done.
Very fun! Great art. I love the little battle dance the other kids do. Making a collectable card game for this jam was my first thought but it seemed too difficult to get done in time, but you got the scope just right. I finished the collection and it never felt like a grind. I enjoyed the puzzle of figuring out what order to get the cards and how to beat the trickier matches. Good job!

@mdotedot @jk5000 Yeah controls are not ideal. The controls I thought about initially just do not work in real life, and as I was kinda stressed about the scope I just went with whatever made sense at the moment. Thanks for the feedback!
@frogman I was indeed scared that the game would be frustrating if you were to fail a few battles early on. Since I couldn't playtest that much (stupidly big scope), I figured I much prefer players to find too many cards than too little. It's always the lack of playtests at the root of all issues ahah. Thanks for playing, I'm glad you liked it!
@linus-lindberg Well tbh the scope was too big, you did the right thing to give up on it imo. It turned out fine in the end but I had to give up on things and rush others, like sound (all audio have been made in about 1h right before submitting...). I much prefer to have some time off at the end to add fun little features and interactions. Thanks for playing!

I felt like I was 10 again haha Loved the mood and the card battle gameplay was really great (with the little fight dances), I was finally able to win Brolon and complete the collection by the end :) Congrats!

Such a nice game! I was never able to collect all 150 Pokémon. But now my dreams are fulfilled by at least collecting all vegetables :D It took me quite a while to beat the teacher. The other battles where pretty easy though. I really understood the rules only in the last battle I think. Overall great entry! Thanks!

Wow fantastic entry, will surely be near the top by the end! Had a blast collecting all the cards and beating all the schoolmates, nice work!
Fun game! You talk about controls but I don't mind them too much, the card selection is a little tedious but works well and I think the cards and battles are well done. Impressive work and great entry!

@mamboman Well then it's the true experience! I think to remember that no one really knew the rules of card games when we were really young either ahah. I'm glad you liked it, thanks for playing!
@willops Thanks, I'm glad you had a nice time!
@artificer Well it's mostly that I should have thought about the controls a little bit more, I just rushed to dev stuff instead like an idiot ahah. I think I could have come up with something better, but maybe not. I'm glad that they do work well enough for most people to enjoy the game. Thanks for the feedback!

THat's a nice entry!
The good : - Complete set of cards with different mechanics - a beginning (tutorial) and an end game, several mechanics (duel, trading). - You feel invested in the gambling of one of your cards (which is properly attenuated with kids being really clumsy and dropping cards all over) - You have very nice art - humour - music (albeit a bit repetitive in the end)
the bad : - The controls make me dizzy and do not always lock up properly - I am not sure I really understood all the mechanics when fighting the final boss (the big one). Healing would go over the max health, the damage reduction sometimes made it appear that the leaks were not even doing anything (while being a 3 attack). The endgame felt frustrating because I was switching combos again and again, not really managing anything.
overall, a very strong entry!
--- I myself **[collect GitHub entries](https://github.com/stars/dhmmasson/lists/ludum-dare-58)**: So it's super nice to see you have used GitHub during the development process of the game (11 nice commits). I have started **collecting entries** backed up by GitHub! I have also collected a few tricks to make the repos shinier across my Ludum Dare participations
Repo name and Description
You can update the repository name (I always name my repo ldXX and I rename when I have found a name for my game) without breaking links (GitHub redirects old names to new ones), and add a description for inclusion in the list ( still redirect to my repository)
Readme and Badges
Include the link to your ldjam entry in the Readme. I also have created badges that you can use to decorate your README:
``` Ludum Dare Ludum Dare 58 - Compo Ludum Dare 58 - Jam Ludum Dare 58 - Extra ```
Topics
Consider using these **topics** on your github description to make your Ludum Dare entry more discoverable: - `game` - `game-development` - `ludum-dare` - `ludumdare` - `ludumdare58` - `ludum-dare-58` - `ld58`
Cover Art
You can also use your cover art for the ```Social preview``` image in the repository ```Settings```
Stars
I have starred and added your repository to a list of ld58 compo:
(Also, I am on a quest to **collect 10 stars on my repo**. If you play my game, consider [leaving a star on my repo](https://github.com/dhmmasson/tilesCollector) as well.)
Wow, really great! You've really managed to make a nice and complete game. It was just the right length and I was super engaged the whole play-through.
I love the concept of the vegetable-based cards and the kids trading them on the schoolyard. Super cool that there was both a collection aspect and a battle system. The battles were well designed too. It was easy to understand but difficult to master. The fact that the sequence of cards mattered so much was interesting I think.
Awesome job, great game!
@dhim It's very possible that some of the card's power didn't work properly for the *"late game"*, I mostly playtested the start (and not nearly enough still). Thanks for the detailed feedback!
It's a cool idea, vital. Funny models, a little boring gameplay, because the protracted battles, but generally super
Really nice looking cards. There was a good variety of them. I like seeing them in their collection book. Battles were fun, especially after I had most of the set and I could see how to build a good team. I like all the ways to gain new cards. Always excited to get the free ones.
That big kid's battle is so difficult.
@antned Ah yes I can see that. Given that I had only very limited time to spend on VFX, I was worried that the battles would just be too confusing if going too fast. That's why I slowed them down quite a bit, but with better polish they could easely be twice as fast. Thanks for the feedback!
@pincushion I'm glad you liked them! One of the first thing I did was paint the Hot Karot card, cause I figured that if the cards were cool, just owning them would already fit the theme and be quite fun. Thanks for playing!
this was really cool and well done. i liked that you had to go around the yard and find the kid with the cards you didn't have, and how the kids had different personalities and card preferences :) good job! also, impressive amount of art made for this. the depiction of the kids reminds me of old Amiga art, like Worms or James Pond :D Screenshot 2025-10-10 233216.png
This was really cool. I had a good time collecting the different cards and figuring out who I could beat in a duel. I don't really have much critique, other than it is maybe a bit too easy to get cards by just picking them up. I.e. maybe only certain cards should be available for pick-up, and the better ones you have to win by beating other kids? Basically there were a few I picked up and then I never had to duel some of the kids, and I would have liked to have had a mechanical incentive to fight them, I guess.
Oh, and another nitpick: Once I got some duplicates, it was maybe a bit too riskless to duel people, since you can just pick some card you never use as collateral. Maybe duels could feel more tense if you had to choose one of your team? Or more even more difficulty, let them pick a random one from your team (and vice versa for the player).
Anyway, nice game; great job with this!
@notime4games This game has been very beneficial for my confidence in my painting skills precisely because of the amount of art I had to produce. I didn't expect to be able to paint fairly decently that fast, but now I guess I can. I'm glad you liked, thanks for playing!
@jaco-van-hemert The heart of these issues was the lack of time for playtesting. As I couldn't make sure that the game was not too punishing, I preferred to make it very forgiving (which is the lesser evil I believe). There are a few cards that can't be found on the ground tho, but maybe like 3. My initial idea was actually that cards on the ground would be rare after the initial ones, thus making duel risky cause even duplicates can quickly be depleted if not careful. Thanks for the feedback!
Really fun game! I liked collecting the veggie cards and dueling other kids—it was such a cute and creative idea. The battles were simple to learn but still made me think about strategy, which was great. Maybe it could be a bit harder to get cards, so duels feel more important. Overall, super well made and really fun to play!
Good music, it looped well. The characters had fun sound effects too, although they all felt like the same person in different sizes (and shirt colors). Perhaps some random variation in skin tone or eye color would've helped with their uniqueness without being too time consuming. Totally understand the time constraints, it's impressive for the time you had!
I liked the difficulty, I felt it was well balanced. I definitely lost a few rounds before finding the right team to play. The in-game tutorial was really nice to see. Great game.
It's an interesting game. At first, it was confusing how to use the interface and start duels, but once I figured it out, it became more fun. It really needs a tutorial. I especially find the child models and their sounds funny. Good luck, the game is good!
Loved the style and the concept. Still not quite sure I understand how the dueling works but it wasn't enough to stop me playing! Just kept expermenting until I got it right. Nice and simple concept with enough depth to keep you engaged. A perfect combonation for a jam entry! Perfectly setup for some further work if you wanted. Well done !
Solid game! The card mechanics and visual style are great, and the main concept - card duels during recess - is really cool. The one weak point I found - floaty controls
I'm in love with the vibe of this game!
Oh I really liked this game! It looks very pleasant, the card-based gameplay is really engaging, and the sounds make the actions more expressive. I felt the movement speed could be a bit faster, but overall the game is great - excellent work!
Really felt like I was back on the playground losing pokemon cards in battles I had no chance of winning :cry:
Super polished overall, battle mechanics were simple but engaging and it was fun coming up with a good strategy (the tomato is a beast). I also particularly loved the little wiggle the other kids do when you start to battle them.
My main feedback would be that the controls felt a little sluggish - I was playing fullscreen in browser and the mouse felt a little clunky.
Overall I really enjoyed the game and completed the full deck! Well done!
The black shirt guy kept beating me but jokes on him, I can see up his big nose! Also love how the kids are all T-posing to assert dominance over the playground. Loved the mood and theme of the game and was fun collecting all the cards.
