Fun tactics! The increase in the difficulty is felt quite clearly. I like charge of actions indication. Noted a bug: "Attack" action sometimes doesn't affect enemies near you. Thanks for the game, good luck!

sobigdrasil 2024-04-14 21:44

Woah this one got me, i'm not so good at tactic games but it was quite funny to dash around room from those creatures. Also, they make absolutely cute noises :3

aliflaliq 2024-04-15 08:04

very fun gameplay, i like turn-based games!

locksmitharmy 2024-04-15 17:39

Very Clever, great job.

wubbaduck 2024-04-15 17:52

 Well done. I enjoyed this one. Nice strategy with the different enemy types and limited resources. The only issue I ran into is the movement getting stuck on the enemies. But other than that I had fun. Lasted until round 18 before getting swarmed!

pebkac 2024-04-15 18:22

This is a nice game! The graphics and haunting organ really put a mood on it!

benjamin-jaeger 2024-04-15 18:22

Graphics are a highlight, but would've wished for a tiny bit more depth, but i get it. It's still super awesome work considering you did this alone in 48hrs! Was fun to play

djow 2024-04-15 18:23

Cool! Great idea! I thought at first it was to avoid them going to the center of the invocation, after I realized they were after me.

owtuvammo 2024-04-15 18:29

This was alot of fun! I couldn't quite beat it, but this is one of my favorites so far! I had a few minor QOL suggestions from a gameplay standpoint:

-Shortcuts keys for the different abilities (1, 2, 3, 4, etc) would be welcome.

-I found myself accidentally using an ability because I was clicking a different one. An adjustment that accounts for that would be really helpful.

-I got used to it, but some way of previewing enemy movement. Maybe this could even be a new ability if you like the idea of keeping that information a little hidden?

-My only real gripe was that I couldn't always tell if my move was going to cause me to hit an enemy. This got me killed several times. Some indication would be helpful.

moonblast 2024-04-15 18:29

Interesting turn-based game, personally I especially like the strategy of attracting hate from monsters and then taking care of them in one go!

stmate03 2024-04-15 18:30

A little rough around the edges, however it's a really fun game, some things I noticed is you can cancel mid dash by selecting another power, the right click to cancel mechanic is a little finnicky when I select another item (it uses up the item), but visually and gameplay wise it's neat!

leozero 2024-04-15 18:32

Very good game ! The atmosphere is great and the move possibilty with some items spawning is really great to try some tactic, well done ! I liked also the graphics and sounds

sirlich 2024-04-15 19:01

Thanks for the really thorough feedback @owtuvammo! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

All of your suggestions are good. I like the idea of having an ability to gain more information about enemy movement (maybe for a turn or two?). I think having it ALWAYS open would make the game a bit too dry, but sometimes it would be very useful.

sirlich 2024-04-15 19:02

@benjamin-jaeger thanks for your review! Adding more depth was definitely on my todo list, but unfortunately I coded it terribly, so the more I added the more difficult it was to add more!

If I had a bit more time, I really wanted to add more enemies (and better defined waves), maybe bosses, and of course more items and move-sets.

momod 2024-04-15 19:55

Really nice game! The gameplay is very addictive, I've played several times and I'll play again ! :D I also really like the mood of the game and the character design ! Great job !

adrien-tremblay 2024-04-16 00:29

Fun game! The art was very nice. Wasn't a huge fan of the music though. And the game was a bit easy for my tastes! Great job though!

pandapuffsforbreakfast 2024-04-16 01:47

I enjoyed this alot. I wishit all fit on my screen.

vortexb 2024-04-16 02:47

Very nice game. Creative style and a very nice base for an action economy system. With the right balaencing and a couple more mechanics to bind things together this could be really indepth! Great little turn based tactics game, well done!

crylica 2024-04-16 04:19

interesting format for a turn based game. a lot of interesting strategy with the enemy spawns and limited resources. good job!

byazzle 2024-04-16 05:53

Great little jam game and totally on point for the theme! The tactics were neat and execution was good 👍

ronn-fever 2024-04-16 06:47

Very cool strategy game. Turning a monster swarming game into a turn based one is a fun concept, and well executed here! I really liked the dash move, plus being able to refresh all my abilities with the green powerup - certainly was a way to escape very bad situations! Pretty good assortment of powers. You could totally take this game further.

impalpable 2024-04-16 09:09

I got really into this! I particularly like turn-based strategies, so I was going to like it but this game is very polished for a gam jam game, especially for compo! Fun gameplay, great art. XD The powerups and enemies were well balanced. The only thing to note is that I did keep accidentally clicking one of the abilities and it would use up the turn :( but that just means I needed to click carefully XD.

promzona 2024-04-16 11:37

hard tactics! Liked all the sound and visual feedback that you give to player for actions. Super cool submission!

have a nice jam!

manabreak 2024-04-16 12:29

Ooh, I liked this one a lot. Reminded me of Jagged Alliance, and I'm a sucker for turn-based strategy / action games like that. Nice work. :)

frankiewhispers 2024-04-16 14:51

Very well done turn base game. I had a lot of playing it.

olddog 2024-04-16 15:20

very cool and funny game play,I spent a lot of time on this game and had a lot fun, love the game machine so much, wish for more content of this game, or more levels ,very nice work

hot-noggin-studios 2024-04-16 16:09

The turn-based nature of this game is a nice mechanic! I played this game for a long time and then forgot to rate it! 😳 It was a bit hard for me to tell what abilities were available at first until I took a good look and noticed the buttons were greyed out.

codechomper 2024-04-16 19:12

That is a really solid entry! I liked how you made the player plan a few moves ahead and get in and out of range from the enemies. My only wish was that you could see how far the enemies could move before you ended your turn. That might have made it too easy though... I had fun, thanks!

pigeonic 2024-04-16 21:38

Really fun turn-base combat! It was a bit difficult figuring out the laser's area of damage. Nice work!

furtive-pygmy 2024-04-17 00:10

Loved the turn based aspect! Great art and gameplay. I think some more graphics for attacks would have added a lot to the game, really great entry though. I enjoyed it a lot!

drainkid 2024-04-17 02:51

Cute turn based game, really unique - I had a bit of trouble determining if an attack was going to hit or not, so maybe some enemy highlighting would have helped, but other than that it was really solid. Good job!

manicthenobody 2024-04-17 04:38

Very fun game. Closest I got to winning was dying with 0 turns left. As others have said, more conveyance of information would be nice, like the ability to hover over an enemy to see how far it can move this turn and highlighting of enemies who will be hit by attacks. It was often very difficult to guess what enemies along the path the laser was going to hit. (Also making the hitbox on the laser a bit wider would've been very satisfying.) I enjoyed the art a lot though. The vector graphics were very reminiscent of a lot of the classic flash indie hits.

sirlich 2024-04-17 10:30

That's pretty good @manicthenobody!

I've only managed to beat my own game once, and that's after I discovered some hacks haha. Apparently it's possible to "aim" with the Laser by swinging your mouse around as it's firing. This wasn't intentional, but allows you to clear more enemies than intended with it.

0x0961h 2024-04-17 13:03

Oooh, that's an interesting take on wave-based top-down shooters. I **actually** enjoyed the turn-based nature of it and it can definitely be made into something bigger with more cool stuff like skills, perks, upgrades. Some roguelite-ness so to say. Great job!

josang1567 2024-04-17 17:58

Very addictive and forces you to think about your next move quite a bit. I managed to reach almost 60 waves without realizing it once I got the hang of it. I simply love it! If you add a leaderboard, it would be even better because I could compete with my friends to see who gets further.
