Very nice and fleshed out as a mini OS. Always good to see a Pico8 game. Good entry.

I loved it, this hacker has some very unusual demands haha

henk 2023-10-02 23:12

The game felt very complete, and I liked all of the creative little details. When I change the mouse speed to "insane" the cursor jumps off-screen to the bottom right, so it took me a while to "find" it afterwards. I'm not sure if this is just a limitation of the tool, though.

Gah, I deleted the important file! That was neat, though. The windows and mouse navigation is very well-implemented.

perfectly emulates the stress of getting hacked, I like the limited space implication with the OS, and the demands are pretty funny :D

This is so impressive, I enjoyed every moment. I also feel like the whole design made the most out of the concept, demands were surprising and it was just so funny. A top tier game in every sense. Wonderful

Very nice and very different from what I have seen so far, congratulations to you

interesting take on the theme! playing was pretty stressful : /

rafael-garcez 2023-10-05 19:42

the tomato pic is really nice indeed =D

I had a lot of fun playing this! I'm impressed with how much content there was in the game and how many twists there were! You really nailed the feeling of an operating system bugging out. Very well made and really inovative!

Impressive to manage to create an OS in pico ! I love discovering creative ways to use Pico-8, and you definitely did great, the game was really fun I especially like the QR twist

Wow! This is my favorite game in this jam so far. Love the idea and you executed it perfectly. That's exactly what I imagine a cluttered computer to feel like - the space is very limited. I deleted the important file too many times, that must have been a bug (or is there a virus that changes the position of icons?). The story was top notch though, and the difficulty just adds to the feeling of tight space. I even replayed the entire game to get both endings. It was worth it. :smile_cat:

Pretty neat! I sometimes had cursor problems - unable to click near edges of the screen, the cursor would escape the pico-8 section and warp over off the edge. Was mostly able to work around it by dragging a window around so that the close button/etc was closer the center. I got stuck on the "delete 5 cheat codes and keep the background white" task, I'm pretty certain I deleted 5 the first time, but _maybe_ the background had flickered momentarily to some other color right as I was clicking on it. I deleted a few more to be safe, background was definitely white, but he just gave me more viruses :(. I really enjoyed the feel of this mini OS falling apart!

I didn't even know something like that was possible on the Pico-8. I like your approach to the theme as well, as it simplified the concept of running out of "space" on a computer by having a file limit, represented by the icon grid. Very quirky and impressive entry!

Very inventive!

Was there any sound? I played the web version and didn't hear anything.

Nice little game! It feels very polished for a compo game, good job. Also very original for a Pico8 game

konfekt 2023-10-14 21:24

I'm a big sucker for custom OS in games so it was really cool to see this entry! I feel like you also kind of made a meta statement on the theme considering the limited capability of Piko8 itself. I was really impressed by how much stuff there was to do and how polished this feels for a compo game. The challenge factor and humor kept me motivated to replay. Still haven't beaten it (it's a lot of stress at once lol), but I see myself coming back to the game again to see what else this unusual hacker has in store. The fun you had while working on this game definitely shines through!
