Loved it, Played two runs, Once with out sound because i had my headset turned down :) At first I was not too sure about how the character moved around in the world but it grew on me. I also really enjoyed the music vibed to it pretty hard when moving things around, Tho I felt the difficulty a little lacking.

zombiebust3r 2023-05-02 06:26

@that1guy232 Thanks for trying it out and for the feedback! The music is amazing indeed :) About the difficulty, we had a slightly harder version at first but after some testing done by friends they said it was very difficult so we tuned it down a bit. I might add a difficulty selector that will simply change how fast you start losing performance as well as how fast you lose it over time.

matthewdrake 2023-05-02 10:11

Really loved the music and art style. Gameplay was simple but fun. Seeing the comment above, I'd definitely appreciate a difficulty selector in the future if you decide to continue this project. I was sort of the opposite of the previous player, in that I could never last more than a few tasks before getting fired, haha.

Great game. I found the performance bar went down too quickly especially at the start. This could be because it is not framerate independent? I only had enough time to take one request and deliver it or else the bar would run out. I love the idea of being a delivery intern, a innovative take on the theme. Well done in making such good art too!

allax 2023-05-02 11:07

Very cool. The controls feel a little weird, but add a certain flair to the game. This could make a cool full game, something similar to overcooked

zombiebust3r 2023-05-02 11:15

@that1guy232 @matthewdrake I just published a new version with the difficulty selection. Left the normal difficulty for how it was in the first version and added a harder mode for those that feel it is too easy :)

zombiebust3r 2023-05-02 11:17

@jeff-kerman it should be fps independent, I made note to avoid that being a problem. It does go down quickly though hahahaha. Learning the layout a bit over a few tries helps. The NPCs give you request pretty quickly so you can cycle between a few to avoid wasting time walking a lot :)

zombiebust3r 2023-05-02 11:22

@allax The controls do feel a bit weird at first, could not find a way to perfect it in time. The movement uses animation curves to move from one grid to the next (2 unity units). Initially it had a little pause between steps but the motion sickness was insane after a while, so decided to make it linear. But then you don't really feel the grid without the pauses so getting the timing to quickly swap between moving and turning gets a bit complicated. I sometimes end up going one grid further than I wanted.

Cute game! Unfortunately on my m1 mac it looks like the intern may have been microdosing: Screenshot 2023-05-02 at 11.42.21 AM.png Still was actually playable (looked better in motion) and I had fun!

zeantwan 2023-05-02 15:55

Nice game! The control strained my had a bit spamming the direction input, but other than that, a good "stress" management game. Great one!

zombiebust3r 2023-05-02 15:56

@agameortwo wow! no idea what that is about hahahaha The webgl version was done afterwards, I had to change all the materials because we used a shader for the mats that did not work on WebGL but it is weird. None of us had a mac so could not test it. Now I'm curious what the hell went wrong there XD Glad you managed to enjoy that still :)

kabura 2023-05-02 16:56

haha amazing, I love it! the controls are interesting and not like every other first person game, the theme is really great and I love the art and voices!

bopohx 2023-05-02 17:08

WOW! I'm stuck in this game) good game! fun game play! go on!

nathan-franck 2023-05-02 17:40

Great music, sounds and voice, art is really nice. The one part that was weak for me was the controls and design felt a little loose and difficult. Would have been nice to be able to move freely with wasd+mouse or just be able to move a bit faster, wasn't nice to tap the cursor direction and slowly lerp to the next orientation or position... though yeah exactly what I'd do differently I don't know for sure. The timer was really slow to drain and I felt really distanced from my tasks. --- actually thinking about it I think this design would have worked really well top-down with absolute cursor directions for controls instead of in first-person, but maybe that would have made it too easy? Anyway, overall a super pleasant game except for the general game design.

zombiebust3r 2023-05-02 18:49

@nathan-franck I agree with what you said about the movement. We ended up leaving it like this because we wanted to change it a bit from what we did last year (top view like you described). We could have still tweeked the camera rotation more but we thought that with the fast paced movement an instant snap would disorient players. Design is definitely our biggest weakpoint.

tom-oak 2023-05-03 14:12

Hi! As others pointed out, the controls are both unusual and interesting. The challenge was a bit hard for my taste and skill (I died very quickly multiple time) but the game design is nice, I like the fact that you have to first ask people what they want and try to optimize. On a technical note, the webgl version stays gray for me, and the downloaded one is displayed in a reaaaally small window (4K screen + 200% windows zoom). Well done overall!

raul-pla 2023-05-03 14:34

@agameortwo Here the technical artist of the project!

M1 Mac SOC's are based on the ARM processors used in the iPhone. That means that like every mobile GPU out there **it uses Tiled Based Rendering, instead of rendering the screen all at once, it divides it on a grid, that's why the screen errors look like that.**

And of course, **Apple being Apple, decided that it didn't want to support Open Source graphic libraries, so OpenGL is not natively supported, same for WebGL.** So in order to work it translates the WebGL shader code to Metal (Mac's proprietary graphics library) and it seems that the compiler is buggy...

**If you're using safari, some people on the internet say to disable "WebGL on Metal" in the advanced settings.** Try doing that!

Anyways, I'm glad you had fun with the game

I honestly really enjoyed this game! I love the character animations and the graphics, they look so good and have such a vibe to them! Ironically I like the movement, it makes for a really easy experience, just wish it was a bit quicker and more reactive. Great game!

madr 2023-05-03 14:52

Very good! The mood and the music was. The best par for me was the voice acting, "Send Mail" "Coffe prelase" ect.

ollyfields 2023-05-03 14:53

Great entry. Really enjoyed playing this one

winter2277 2023-05-03 14:58

Great game! It looks fantastic, sound is great and properly follows the theme.

I think there is progress to be made with the gameplay though. The controls were difficult to master, being forced to move only in orthogonal directions in a 3D game was not convenient, especially due to the time to rotate. (A top down 2D game doesn't have this problem). Also the game starts with a lot of deliveries due and this amount doesn't change so the difficulty seems constant. After playing for 5 minutes I felt like nothing new was happening and so just quit. If there was an increasing number of deliveries such that the game is getting harder and harder, it would make it more interesting to survive as long as possible and make it less overwhelming when playing at first (e.g. if you start with a single delivery to do).

Other than that, great job! Your team knows how to deliver a beautiful 3D experience with immersive sounds.

kujoen 2023-05-03 15:01

Nice entry, but the controls need a bit to get used to and one gets familiar with the gameplay loop very quickly

kuggenhoffen 2023-05-03 15:04

I like the idea and looks. I would like a more freeform movement as right now it feels a bit clunky and kind of gets in the way of the gameplay. Anyway good job on the game!

zombiebust3r 2023-05-03 15:44

@tom-oak Sorry about the window. The movement caused us quite a bit of motion sickness while playing for a while but playing on windowed got rid of it. We also thought that for ease of testing windowed would be better since it allows you to close it and move it quickly. But it is a good point that for bigger res screens it would appear to be very small.

@winter2277 Totally agree with the progression changes. As for the movement we knew it was probably better to play with a top down view but we did not want to repeat the same game we did last year. Thus we stuck with this style of movement which seemed interesting to play around with. The camera could be turned faster, that is true.

2023-05-03 16:42

I thought the movement was a bit clunky at first but then I figured it out. I think this game would be better top down

fnelix 2023-05-03 19:40

Cool game, I enjoyed the overall style and the voice acting and music. Like other I would have preferred free movement. Great entry!

francis 2023-05-04 20:50

I think you did a great job creating a stressful and hectic environment :P Thought the graphics and audio created a very fitting mood for the game.

Unfortunately I could never do more than a few tasks without being fired. I think the biggest problem for me was the controls. It felt frustrating and like I was constantly fighting it, and the difficulty of the game came from the controls and not so much the gameplay elements. It also felt pretty disorienting. With freely based movement instead of being locked to the grid, I think the game would be a lot of fun!

I can also see the potential for adding more micro-management tasks like actually having to make the coffee, or delivering packages to the right location rather than just pressing E.

quentinverlhac 2023-05-13 13:40

I've been fired a few times, what a great place to work! Graphics are cool, I like how the employees are looking sideways at us. The controls are sometimes a bit frustrating, I sometimes lost the game because I couldn't properly get in the room. Great entry overall!

nekuake 2023-05-18 19:29

It really is a challenging game! I barely managed not to get fired, imagine having a good performance 😅.

I love the aesthetics and audio, it's a game with a very neat art section and with a simple concept but hard to master, like a real job! I did have problems with the camera, turning 90 degrees more than I expected, but it's a matter of getting used to it.

Very good job!
