Nice looking game if a bit light on the gameplay.

zubspace 2023-01-09 00:21

@pe7e Thanks for your feedback! Yeah it's a very minimalistic game. I focused on story and art this time. Another goal was, that my children can play it easily

yorsh 2023-01-09 01:07

I love relaxing game such as this one. Every year I want to make one myself, but for some reasons I end up having puzzle game ideas instead...

It's neat and works well. The 4 chapters are the perfect length for a game jam game. Also, drawing mechanics are not that easy to build in 48h, congrats !

zubspace 2023-01-09 07:14

@yorsh Thank you so much! I love puzzle games and wanted to add some too for my game. But I always have such a hard time comming up with great puzzles.

I like the drawing mechanic, but I had to use 10 rendertargets with a lot of overdraw to reveal different elements independently! Thank god current computers are fast enough for such madness.

sharploaded 2023-01-09 18:10

Wow, beautiful! Love it! Great relaxing music. Nice art. Very interesting story-telling. The bees made me smile when flying to the flowers :) One small feedback. I ended up moving the mouse very fast all over the place because I did not want to miss anything, which made me a bit stressed out.

amkingtrp 2023-01-09 19:53

My daughter absolutely loved this (I'd left it open when I went for a coffee and came back to find her playing it on my computer). As she moved the mouse around I could hear shouts of "oh this is so cool!". This was a very convincing argument for "games as art".

On a technical note, I was extremely impressed by the way you managed to fade different segments of the screen with what looked like splat masks? I'm more and more impressed by what can be done in Godot. I'll definitely be looking at the source you uploaded.

owca 2023-01-09 19:58

Beautiful and relaxing. Thanks!

rrsmtz 2023-01-10 01:09

Beautiful way of telling stories. I love the lack of text or dialogue, so we can fill in whatever meaning we want to. Gorgeous sound and effects, and good call on making the uncovered percent < 100% as it was hard to get it all :)

naomiajacobs 2023-01-10 02:13

Aww, I love this - such a sweet game. A great break from the more stressful games on here. Beautiful.

zubspace 2023-01-10 07:12

@sharploaded Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! Sorry about stressing you out :) I actually wanted the player to steer a bird around the scene instead of just dragging the mouse. But time was against me..

@amkingtrp Thank you so much! your comment has warmed my heart! My last game was too hard for my kids to play, so I tried something else this time. Godot is a great engine with a nice community. But my code is a mess, lol! I'm using 10 Viewports (Rendertargets) which I can fill with white splatter sprites which fade out, and use the resulting texture in a shader for other sprites to blend them in or out. Simple but not very optimized.

@owca Thank you! Relaxing you was my goal! :)

@rrsmtz Thx! Glad you enjoyed the story. The sound effects are so simple, but I was surprised that they are actually good enough. Less is more sometimes.

@naomiajacobs Thank you! Usually I make games which even I can't complete, lol! My kids complained about it. So I turned the difficulty level to 0 this time

chompdev 2023-01-11 02:40

Wow! After playing through about sixty LD52 games so far, this is easily one of my top 3. Amazing art, story, unique mechanics, and design! Beautiful music and pacing here, as well. I would really love to see this turned into a full game, even if it's only a few hours long. Wonderfully crafted from start to finish!

zubspace 2023-01-11 13:10

@chompdev Thank you so much for your praise. Means a lot to me! As always, I tried to create a very simple game and half way through the compo I was a bit overwhelmed by all the things I wanted to implement  You could definitely do more with this by adding more puzzles and levels with more things to uncover. I think it could be a great game for a younger audience, because it is so simple to play. Thanks again!

smeljey 2023-01-12 21:39

Very relaxing and sweet game. Concept is very unique and music is also cool

ffrusik 2023-01-12 21:40

Nice art and music, but lack of gameplay

globul 2023-01-12 21:42

restful, poetic and original ! Great

fabian-denter 2023-01-12 21:43

One of the most creative games I played in LD52, love those tiny narratives. Super cool!

serpo 2023-01-12 21:54

This is a really unique and enjoyable concept. The music bed really fits the tone and the piano sound effects are very cool. It's an awesome mechanic for combining gameplay and story telling. Would love to see it expanded upon with more chapters and some morphing, diegetic soundscapes. Really nice work!!!!

zubspace 2023-01-12 22:43

@smeljey @ffrusik @globul @fabian-denter Thanks for playing and the feedback!

@serpo Thank you! Today I learned what diegetic soundscapes are. :) You're right, that would definitely improve the experience. I actually recorded a few sounds like rain and footsteps, but due to my time running out I just added some piano tunes in the last hour. Turned out better than I anticipated though

pedsm 2023-01-13 22:18

Very creative take on the theme. Loved the atmosphere only thing that threw me off is music feels more sad than relaxing which I would have appreciated (that is not to say is not good!)

forik 2023-01-14 00:21

Very atmospheric game with relaxing mood.

Want more interaction with game like click with LMB and effect of draw with a brash.

Glad to see games like your on a game jam =)

Thank you =)

pazzi 2023-01-14 07:07

This was really relaxing, and it was genuinely interesting to see how the stories would unfold, kinda like a flip book- Awesome entry!

zubspace 2023-01-14 07:30

@pedsm Thank you! As usual, the music was an afterthought. I threw something together in a rush 1 hour before the compo ended  You're right, it could be more uplifting.

@forik Thanks alot! In an early prototype you had to click+drag to reveal, but I thought that the click itself unecessary. I actually wanted to add a bird which follows your mouse and reveals stuff, but time ran out.. Anyway, I agree that more ways to interact with the world would have been really nice.

@pazzi Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed the stories. Each level I wanted to add something animated to make it more interesting. Took me a lot of time, but I'm happy that it was worth it! :relaxed:

shaunyeap 2023-01-14 08:11

At first, I not sure should I call this a game despite it has some 'interactive' part, perhaps a very interesting interactive 'art', which give a meaningful tales. But game is 9th art right? Yes, so this is a game. Very interesting, and definitely innovative. Instead of having fun, I lost in thought :thought_balloon: (in good way). What story the designer want to tell and how the story can be conduct in this way? Interestingly some find it simple and relaxing, while some like me found myself lost in thought, that's how beauty this game is. Liked the art style, music and the 2 min dev timelapse. Really well done!

zubspace 2023-01-14 20:29

@shaunyeap Thanks for your thoughtful comment! Depends a lot on how you define a game. I agree with you: It's definitely a light game with almost no gameplay elements. It has a clear goal, which is to uncover the story, and a very simple way to achieve that goal interactively. So, in my opinion, you could call it a game. But it could also be considered an interactive narrative.

Either way, I'm glad that you enjoyed it, at least some parts, and that the stories gave room for thought. Means a lot to me!

grid96 2023-01-15 17:55

beautiful, this is art!

bezbiletnym 2023-01-18 09:26

I really like art games! Was surprised to find one of them at LD!

verttixpertti 2023-01-19 10:36

First I thought the game had bugged because nothing was happening but then I released how the game works and I was blown away. I have to assume you've toyed with this concept before, because it was so well executed. Nice job!

magno-chuntey 2023-01-19 12:29

one of my favs i've played! very calm and relaxing and an all round enjoyable experience, good job!

chase-of-bass 2023-01-19 12:51

This was a really nice experience! Beautiful art and concept -the music really carried the mood nicely. It was fun to see how each of the 4 turned out -wanted more by the end. ^_^ Excellent work!

bubug 2023-01-22 10:26

What a lovely game! Loved the graphics and peaceful, contemplative atmosphere. Well done!

oleg20111511 2023-01-22 16:08

The story has a very chill, relaxing mood. Nice work!

zubspace 2023-01-28 16:58

Wow, thank you so much for playing my game and the awesome ratings!
