I got jumpscared by the oil bird's car sound. Fun game otherwise!
Had a lot of fun with the game. Took me a long time to beat the last level! I really liked the concept and how it looked and felt. The theme was done very nicely. I have only two issues with it: 1. I couldn't understand how to beat the slugs. Hitting space next to them doesn't seem to do anything. At first I thought I was killing them when they explode but then I saw I'm losing health. Eventually my solution was to just drive them around the level and avoid touching them but it wasn't clear if there's another way to handle them. 2. The interaction was a little bit clunky - I got stuck behind the cart quite a few times
Still, this was a very well made game for a jam. Good job making it!!
I love this game. Cute graphics and its just very fun and relaxing to play and collect olives.

I enjoyed this! I liked my little olive-farming business! Just chilling and making olive oil until the mean worms attacked!
The graphics are cute, they have lots of character in them. It was a bit confusing where to go first, some indication would've been helpful. The slugs seemed a bit overpowered, they quickly ended the game. Dropping the items off in the press and the truck was pretty fun!
Such a zany, fun idea for a game! I love the really cute, goofy characters and animations you packed into this game. Everything is just so satisfying: the olive shaking, the wheelbarrow gathering, stomping olives in the press, and getting dragged away in the back of the truck by accident! The kiwi carrying an extra jar of olive oil on his beak is a great touch. Even small details like the challenge of fitting the wheelbarrow through a tight space is fun and interesting. I adore this game's art and would definitely love to see more of it. Very well done!

1. slugs can be attacked by pressing spacebar nearby. If they're a fresh slug, it will be instant. Otherwise you need to mash it a bit since slugs that have eaten olives will have more HP. Once a slug starts chasing you, it's too late (in this version of the game, at least) and you either have to let it explode on you or just run around being chased (which, to be honest, is part of the hectic fun in the last level especially).
2. yes, it can be a bit tricky, especially squeezing the wheelbarrow through the doors, but it was a rush job and it is my first time, hopefully forgivable ;-).

@tasman-smith Glad you like it! The name 'Oil Mail' is based off of 'Royal Mail', the main postal company in this country, with 'royal' being pronounced basically 'r-oil' in this accent at least... I had a good laugh when I came up with that name and just had to use it :-).
@arthur-mairs The mean worms are sorry........ sorry for being called worms when they are in fact slugs! >:D They'll be paying you a visit again soon
@svemir Fair point; I had greater ambitions in mind for a tutorial but unfortunately due to time constraints about 20 minutes before the packaging hour I chucked together an easy first level and tried to distill it into a description.
Re: the slugs being overpowered — very true, but I was hoping to have more enemies in place and more ways to deal with them (and more levels in place to give a more gradual ramp-up). Sadly that didn't pan out and I had only a few minutes to do some proper playtesting and rebalance the slugs. The last/most difficult level is definitely possible but also quite tricky if you let the slugs build up. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoyed :)
@chompdev Thank you very much! I am definitely not an artist by nature but I was armed with Krita and the wish to put in a bit of effort, glad that paid off :-)

Fun game. I can't figure out how to defeat the worms. I played a few levels and it was good.
Nice setting :D I like the peaceful style :) As others mentioned before the controls are hard at some points and I wished to be a bit faster - overall a nice entry

Wow! You implemented the whole production pipeline: harvest, transport to squeezer, squeeze, load onto delivery truck!!! And a cool Kiwi! The controls feel very stiff, but that's acceptable for a game jam game. Congratulations for the perfect match of the jam theme with a nice little, ... actually quiet complex game!
@almax I have been playing Overcooked and similar games in the not too distant past, so it very likely was an influence on my mind. Agreed that it would be good for local multiplayer, but that is definitely a 'beyond the jam' extension :)
@itzemii I feel like I know what you mean, but out of interest what would you suggest to improve the controls? Maybe there should be a little bit of acceleration rather than just a constant velocity?

This game was deeper than I expected at first. Trying to balance the tasks to get oil was fun and the graphics were great. I love the idea of a kiwi olive farmer. It wasn't clear what I was supposed to do about the slugs, so I wound up just doing my best to avoid them. Great work.
