Both amazing graphics and sound effect! The mood is well created overall.

Ha, very clever use of the theme. And a very stylish and fun game to boot! I think when you start multitasking with the turret is when this game gets really fun and tricky. Would love to see a few more backgrounds perhaps in those stages to indicate more of a progression, but I understand that time is tight, and the end result is worth playing either way.

Sweet 1-bit visuals, good audio, and super interesting/unique bullet-hell style gameplay. Well done everyone!

alexander-epton 2022-10-04 00:45

this was pretty the graphics were awesome. the movement was was super frustrating but maybe thats the point

alec 2022-10-04 00:47

What a great take on the theme! The addition of the second ship that shoots back felt really good after running away for a couple levels. I also really liked how the counter ticked down in binary, and the 1bit graphics fit great!

federico-delgado 2022-10-04 00:52

Wow, amazing. The gameplay is fun, well balanced with positive feedback for the player. The graphics and animation are excelent, pretty smooth. The only thing that "bothered" me is that the planet on the inferior left corner can make the player loose the ship because they share the same color. Apart from that, excelent game!

gabriel-chan 2022-10-04 00:52

Amazing stuff! Fantastic idea with gorgeous artwork. Also love the music and sound effects, very well polished game!

saintchristopher777 2022-10-04 01:04

Wow, solid game! Took me a moment to figure out the "click and drag outline to move" mechanic, but it's really clever. And fun. The B&W art style does it for me too. Great work!

boxedmeatrevolution 2022-10-04 01:25

Played all the way to the end and beat the boss. I liked the positioning aspect of the game, where you had to be careful moving your ships past each other so you could bring the right ones in to take hits when necessary. At first it kind of seemed like a bullet hell, but I don't think it really felt like one, more like a really fast paced strategy game. The music and art was great.

megafuze 2022-10-04 01:39

yo this is cool! Normally when I think of rythmn bullet hell games, i normally think of projectiles being summoned to the beat of the music, but the drag to move mechanic somehow works! It adds a lot more challenge to avoiding projectiles in comparison to being able to freely move. The artstyle and music mixes well together! Overall I think this game is really well made, good job!

projectcolorball 2022-10-04 05:20

interesting concept and nice 1 bit visual!please check out our game 《Exp10sion》 and give us some feedbacks and critics!

ronn-fever 2022-10-04 06:22

So clever! What a smart interpretation of the theme! 10 but in binary! What great art and aesthetics: binary color palette, binary timer, binary level select. This game kicked my butt but I kept going back for more. The extra ships with their unique mechanics was a great exploration of the idea. Felt like a finished product -- give me more.

sean-esopenko 2022-10-04 06:41

We built a bullet hell as too but your's is the most unique spin on the genre I've ever seen. Well done!

cowgummiboy 2022-10-04 06:45

really smart interpretation of the theme, and the game is so well polished, the way it slows down if you are about to get hit, the movedistance indicators pushing against each other. The way you move the character is also very interesting for a bullethell, but it made it really hard in the later levels still very fun to play though

m11 2022-10-04 12:23

Love the art style - feels super polished and stylish

okshirl 2022-10-04 13:12

oo the graphics is so cool, every time frame could be in a manga page. That's a really unique take on rhythm games and the theme, I really liked the music as well.

black-potion 2022-10-04 15:04

You got me at the first half, and it was an explosion in my head when I got 2 spaceship. Well done my friend well done. It's good job

nonsans 2022-10-04 16:40

@enjl Glad you liked it! Time as always was too short for everything we wanted to do. The most egregious thing, however, was a bug in the web-version of our game that omitted the entire story told in the transition between the levels - short though it may have been. We have fixed that now.

alex-de-la-cour 2022-10-04 16:43

Using binary for the theme was a stroke of genius, the gameplay itself is fun and innovative and the 1 bit pixel art is beautiful. I loved this!

nonsans 2022-10-04 16:51

@federico-delgado Thanks for checking out our game! Yup, we are lucky to have an artist as talented as @sturo for this project. The legibility of backgrounds etc. is always a challenge with binary color restrictions, hope it was manageable regardless. We have fixed an issue where the web browser version did not display story and further content.

nonsans 2022-10-04 16:54

@ronn-fever Happy you enjoyed it! Unfortunately it was not as polished as we hoped. The web-browser version of the game did not display our short story told in the Captain's logs between the levels at all. If you want more, you could give it another spin now. The levels are partly procedurally generated, at least in the way the enemies spawn so it should feel different on a new playthrough.

nonsans 2022-10-04 17:02

@megafuze Wait till you read the story then. It's pretty short this time around but the fact that so few people experienced it this time is a bummer. It was meant to be part of the game but the browser version of the game, which we reckon most people played, did not display it at all.

megafuze 2022-10-04 17:50

@nonsans I just went back to give the exe version a try and I got to beat it there, the story sure adds a lot to the game and explains why every level ends with a mob of ships flooding the screen. definitely a big improvement! I also ran into a small glitch at the end where beating the boss and having one of your ships gets blown up at the same time makes it so that the main menu theme plays twice.

junber 2022-10-04 18:15

@artilor901z @ismael-rodriguez @alec @gabriel-chan @saintchristopher777 @boxedmeatrevolution @projectcolorball @cowgummiboy Thank all of you for playing and providing helpful feedback! Earlier today we noticed that the web version didn't export any of the story we had written (unlike the downloadable versions which we tested and which worked fine). That should be fixed now. If you want an excuse to try to get further than last time, this is it. Or if you only want to read the story, you can just use the Chapter Select to start the first level of each chapter and then finish the boss. @nonsans would be happy if his words didn't go ignored because of a silly bug.

faust-mi 2022-10-05 11:55

Amazing graphics and sound effect!

frozenfire92 2022-10-05 18:42

This was a phenomenal entry, really good game feel all around! One suggestion for the timer is to pad it with 0's and make sure its a monospaced font, this will help readability when it changes size. Keep making games!

junber 2022-10-05 21:37

@frozenfire92 Thank you so much! I'm not quite sure what you mean by padding with 0s because we do add preceding 0s so that the number of digits stays constant during a level. (As for a monospaced font: we did think about that but decided for the more aesthetically pleasing, narrower 1 instead. But I can completely see why you and maybe others would prefer monospace)

frozenfire92 2022-10-06 00:28

@junber ah ok, I'm thinking it was the non monospaced font that was getting me

sarah 2022-10-20 02:38

Sorry it took me so long to get back to your game! This was really cool, I love the graphics and overall style of the game, it looks amazing. The idea of teleporting to the beat is cute and visually it worked really well and fit the theme perfect. Overall, well done!
