I love the art style, very cool, and the music ties the mood together beautifully. Procedural worlds are cool, as is the day night cycle. Took me a little while to figure out I had to click on the secondary ingredient to craft, maybe needs some instruction around that. The 1 item carry mechanic is cool, I found myself organising little piles of wood and flint so I could keep fires going during the night. A lot of potential here! Nice work team

This is so good! Made me really appreciate inventories hahaha. Running back and forward across the little bridges.

Its a neat little game and the graphics and music are really eerie. The crafting system is nothing that innovative though I like the "carry only one thing" aspect. Made it more realistic. That said, the game just excels at Mood. Really immersive.

huge don't starve vibes, in a very cool way. I'm really impressed you pulled that off in so little time, amazing job!

heviosso 2022-04-05 10:44

Beautifully made, the art and the soundtrack are both excellent. The idea of only being able to carry one thing at a time is what we need in games, imho. Could use a little more handholding in the beginning.

Cool game

5 star for the mood, no problem! This is not the type of game I enjoy, but I recognize it is really well made. I suppose it is intentional, but I had a really bad start where the island I chose to join had no trees on it, so I couldn't get more wood to continue and died after being only able to reach the second island :grimacing: It looks well and plays well, good job!

The art style is fantastic! I love the initial difficulty in figuring the game out; while I had to read some of the comments to figure out how the crafting works, it really encouraged me to keep going once I got the hang of it. The mood is great as well.

Very moody game with a nice, haunting, soundtrack to it. Design is great.. and generated map? awesome. Shut up and take my ratings.

tomatoomelet 2022-04-06 01:40

Wow great art/mood. I do not know when the fire will extinguish so I kept throwing wood in it. Noice work.

It's a good survival game, first time played it was really difficult because I stayed on the first island, but when retried, it was more easy ! (but, I did 60m in 20 minutes, I think a snail do better xD )

Super scary atmosphere, I love it!

meritcoding 2022-04-06 14:48

The game was nice but a tutorial was needed.

kimberly 2022-04-06 14:53

Great mood! Was kind of just trying to survive, taking everything back to my fire, but then realizing nothing comes back, so that run ended pretty sadly. Major kudos for the procedural generation!

Really nice job on setting a creepy mood! I think juggling the inventory got a little frustrating but I definitely get that that's part of what makes the experience scary. Great work!

core-foliant 2022-04-06 16:42

It is unicle mechanic for games in this category! Great work!

andreia 2022-04-07 04:36

Nice! Reminds me of Don't Starve. I really liked your art style and the mood the game has. Would love to have the controls showing in game beside the crafting shortcut so I don't keep having to reference it. I I really enjoyed it, great work!

shadow64 2022-04-07 10:06

The art style and music were both really well done and contribute to the mood. Procedurally generated stuff is wizardry to me, so this is very nicely done in the time allotted! Similar to someone else's procedural mishap, I did have my pickaxe and axe blocked by trees so that I couldn't see them the first time I played. It may be something in the future to just make sure that initial spawn area is clear/has trees/etc.

That minor issue aside, coming away from a jam with a game that really gives the feeling of a famous indie in 3 days time is extremely impressive. You all should be very proud. Thanks for playing/reviewing The Apocawiz. I appreciate it! And congrats on finishing the jam! :)

Using the pickaxe feels really nice. The animations fit so well

ldp 2022-04-10 18:20

Wow, congrats, that's an awesome amount of work to put in a jam game. This was really enjoyable to play, simple to learn but with quite a lot of depth to manage your resources efficently. Everything is well done and polished, I did not met any bugs or weird behaviour, it's quite well balanced. This was really awesome!

Man, this is really cool. Don't think I've played another game like it, for starters. The art, sound, music, and gameplay concept are all really fun and compelling. I'd say there are two things I don't necessarily love: the animations/action speed--which can feel slow and clunky in a way that I think undercuts the desperation of the game--and how the controls for item interaction work--which again feel clumsy in an unintentional way. But that's really nitpicking; this is top notch work.

Looks really good. Great idear, but i died with full berry life.
