very fun game! interesting take on the "unstable" theme. I would have liked if the movement was more reactive.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD49 → Please don't explode !

The movement was a bit clunky for me, but overall it's a good game! Perfect for this theme. :)
I did all i could, but i killed them all, sorry :'(. Anyway, good game ! 😄
Reminds me of a grade school field trip to the unstable science museum.
Cool game ! :) even if I couldn't save them, it's a bit difficult to move quickly
i love the kid interaction ! was a cool game ! wp
This is a fun game, I can see a lot of work went into the game. The art is wonderful and I really liked the tutorial, it was well laid out and easy to understand. The game stated at a good difficulty and gave time to get the hang of the movement and punching. A possible improvement would to just be permanently sprinting or have a stamina bar so you'd have to balance the punching and sprinting? It was a really fun game and I loved the interpretation of 'unstable'
Take that, tourists!
Fun game, funny concept. I found the punching mechanics to be a little inconsistent; very often my punches wouldn't come out unless I was at a certain angle or moving at a certain speed. Not sure if it was intentional, but towards the end there were people I couldn't punch away at all (i.e. the fast purple person).
Thanks for making this!
@christianb Thank you for your return! It was not intentional, the punch works a little bit strangely but it is normal that he don't work on what you call the fast purple person, this are kids, the only "ennemies" that don't make any damage to the Element and don't take damage either, they are just here to get in your way. And of course we don't punch children ! xD
Thanks for your comment @ihaveaninkling and @christianb ! (I complete my mate response) I made an afterjam version where we are running by default because it’s better as you said And for the punch etc it has been made by « beginner » developer so it’s not perfect but it works and made it more unstable hehe
@rodeseze @mouf Totally understandable! It's not expected for things to work perfectly, that's part of the fun! You made a fun game, and hopefully had fun making it. That's what counts!
Thank you @mouf and @rodesezeI just played the afterjam version and its a lot more comfortable to play! I got further this time xD
It's a really impressive game for a short jam and I love to hear there are more people joining!
wow that got chaotic very quickly, nice game and cool art as well
Funny game ! I would love to have seen more effect or feedback when hitting the people.
Very fun game with a unique take on the theme! Great entry!
This is a super arcade-like take on the theme! Had a blast playing it, Theres a lot of chance for some additional polish but overall this was a joy to experience. Well done.
I'm loving the movement physics, great job!
Very fun and unique game. Sometimes the movement and interactions felt a bit clunky, but nothing broke! It feels like a game that could have a ton of different levels and objectives. The art and audio design worked very well together as well. Good job!
Nice game, controls felt somewhat heavy in the start, but after playing a while i had a liking for it, maybe something to prevent the punch spamming would be cool. Great job!
Some issues with the punches ignoring the people's collision boxes, but overall a very funny experience that was also perfectly, thematically fitting!
Movement was a teeny bit unresponsive, but otherwise pretty hilarious game and was pretty satisfying to punch out so many people :)
The hit box is a little janky, but the game is very fun!
Great game! I loved how the challenge built up as you kept playing through the game, with more and more visitors and tourists destabilising your artefact with their cameras. The artefact changing colours as it got more unstable was a nice touch as well, it looked pretty and also gave some indication of how close it was to exploding, so I li,ked the visual feedback. And I love how powerful the punch was - that was a really fun mechanic! Great work on this game, I had fun!
The game is really funny. I liked the impact of punches and humor
Wow! A very interesting game. I never won, but I enjoyed playing.
Really fun game but also very hard. 5 minutes feels like ages here
Thanks you all for your returns and your comments that's so sweet and it's encouraging us to continue making games . It makes us really happy that you enjoyed playing our game even if it's sometimes not well balance and hard, thx ! :D
Great little game! Enemies are a little fast but its still really fun punching everything. I liked how the cell phones and cameras were used as weapons.
It's a funny but really diffucult game! Get the photographers first!
Awesome to have a tutorial! cool entry!
I love the concept!
The cooldown on the punch makes it a bit challenging and make you think wisely than panic pressing people out of the way. Plus, the sounds just make it satisfying. I would love to hear the unstable element being unstable though! Also definitely some typo fixes are called for.
Honestly if you ask me, shift defaulting to on as a balance fix doesn't really break the rules. You're not adding anything unless you intend to keep that walk state.
Great job nonetheless and I had fun~
Ha, I had a great time punching everyone! It was super fun when there were large groups of people that were in the same place, so punching them made them all scatter, ha ha haa! Nice game.
Not bad. It was kind of hard to tell when things were making the element more unstable, so a little more feedback from the game could have been helpful. The punch also felt a little odd, like the cooldown was a little too long and you couldn't use it while stationary. Nice take on the theme, and well done with the sprite art.
The camera shutter sound effect was really triggering and that made the punching even more satisfying. The music was good and I liked how everything got more and more chaotic as the element in the middle got more unstable.
While I may not be the biggest fan of the pixel art aesthetic, I can still say that this game looks rather nice.
Animation is also quite detailed, like the 'artefact' itself, of course. Characters bobbing around is also a nice touch, reminds me of South Park animation. Words emit from the people on their phones. And looking back at the footage I've recorded, I noticed that the button even glows when you're near it.
I always appreciate when an entry includes a tutorial, though I noticed some misspelled words, even in the Post Jam version (not like it really matters that much).
As for gameplay, I like it; it's quite intuitive, easy to pick up and play. The game idea is almost like something that I'd conjure up and laugh myself silly about, but not nearly as absurd. Though you'd think they'd establish some boundary between the artifact and the tourists; also, *why are there people shooting at it!* Well it doesn't matter, PUNCH 'EM!!!
As for punching itself, it did feel kinda janky in the original submission, and it felt more responsive in the revised version, but I don't exactly know why that is. Perhaps I already knew what to do when playing that version. The fist graphic itself also appears rather jittery, though I can understand what would cause that to happen; I've had my struggles with similar things in the past.
Smacking a bunch of people away is great, flying off like enemies in Crash Bandicoot; though unfortunately they cannot smash any nearby crates for you. But then there comes the kids who have the strength to shove you around the stage, and I guess they're too short to get punched away. That's actually a pretty interesting way of shaking things up.
Speaking of shaking, then there's a quake that'll require that you shield the artifact; however, I'm uncertain as to how much that really matter in the long run. It seems more important to do so when people start shooting at the thing. Also, if the artifact does explode; I found it very jarring to suddenly restart the game and throw you back in there, instead of taking you to the main menu.
...Oh, yeah. Sound effects are also pretty good. Though it's odd to hear the punching impact when I hit nothing. And those people on the phone sound like they came straight from Animal Crossing; just an observation.
I have spent over an *hour* on this game and review, and I feel like moving to something else now. Great job, all of you!
