Well done!! Really cool graphics!!!.
Great graphics and sound. The mechanics are a bit overwhelming at first but one quickly gets the hang of it. I did run into an issue though: I lost the ability to step or take turns after a few levels/rooms. I could not move anymore or interact in any way but set the destination.
@ache-games Thanks! Glad you liked them!
@cireneikual222464 Thank you! Sorry you ran into that bug. We noticed it during testing and thought we squashed it for good. Guess not. :slight_frown: Hope it didn't ruin the experience!
Love the robots, so cute!! The mechanic was interesting too, I had to think about what I should do.. Great work!!
@chelc Thanks! (I agree, the robots turned out really nice!)
@cireneikual222464 I'm sorry you hit a gamebreaking bug. It should be gone for good now.
I have a lot of nice things to say about this game. The voiceover, the aesthetics, and the music are all beautiful. Some jam games are extremely hard to pick up from the get go but this one starts out fairly straightforward and gives you a chance to get to grip with things before ramping up the difficulty. A very nicely made game within the time period.
Thanks @icedjam ! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it! We put a good amount of effort into polishing it and making the onboarding as gentle as possible without making the game too simple.
The graphics look absolutely great! Good job!
@jpgfg Thanks! Appreciate you taking the time to play.
The game was pretty fun! The movement system was really cool!
Great graphics and mood. I also really liked the presentaion: the camera work and narration were really nice additions to the game.
@morepixels Glad you liked it!
@maximbegunov Thanks! We're always happy when other people appreciate the details.
Holly crap, this game feels soooo polished, it's really fun and a nice concept. I thnik I had a bug where I died insidie a coolant pump when I still had 50% health, I understood that when you're overheating it only takes 25% health per turn, is that correct?. Music and gfx are suuper neat, overall a very nice entry, this needs to get to 20 asap!! I'm sending it to my friends !
@webox Thanks for playing! You are correct, though if an AI has moves left on it's turn (it starts with 3) it can theoretically spend up to all 3 on attacking (not really conveyed anywhere in game :no_mouth:). Therefore I _think_ that wasn't a bug, though if we were to do this for real we'd want to make that way more obvious. Super appreciate the kind words and the boost to your friends! I'll send a play/rate your way in a bit.
This was pretty fun to play! I didn't realize until much later that you could attack the enemies yourself, or at least, the earlier ones since I couldn't kill later ones. It definitely changed how I planned to move. I had just one bug where the camera stopped working after finishing the game and then starting a new one.
@svntax Oh no, guess we missed that edge case. :slight_frown: Hope everything _else_ was enjoyable regardless. Thanks for playing!
Love those pumpin' synths! The voiceover was great as well. Overall, the audio was quite professional sounding. Visuals were great, too.
@craigalancarroll Hey thanks! Glad you liked it!
Some crazy polish on this one!
Core game loop feels solid. The heat mechanic doesn't really feel like it adds much value to the gameplay though beyond being a nuisance. It might be interesting to flip it and have some way to use the instability of enemies as a way to clear otherwise impossible obstacles; maybe give the MC some kind of disruptor that resets their pathing?
Overall nice work!
@fireslash Thanks! I agree there's more room we could have explored the instability. There's not a whole lot of time pressure urging you to take the risk, other than seeing how few turns you can beat the game. Some good suggestions though!
One of the most polished Ludum Dare game I have ever played! Congrats to your two man team!
@tom-kun Wow, thanks for the high compliment! And thanks for playing!
A game that come right from synthwaverworld ! :stuck_out_tongue: I liked it ! If I can find improvement... Maybe a little more diversity into soound design, like more different sound for ennemies movements
@loiclegrosfrere Thanks! Glad you like the synthwavey-ness (is that a word?) of it! Yeah, if we had more time we'd totally increase the variety, just was low priority at the time.
Absolutely superb. I think the player needs to be a little more differentiated than the environment - I was initially unable to tell what was happening when I started the game, there was a lot of text on screen and it was quite disorienting. The camera angles made it difficult to tell the robot you're playing as had a face; so at the beginning I just thought it was a pillar until I noticed the idle animation. Other than that, this is absolutely fantastic in every way.
@papabirb Yeah we know, the text is overwhelming. It's hard to get people to read instructions before the game starts though so that was the best solution we could fit in the time limit, unfortunately.
Was hoping the bobbing idle animation would help distinguish it, though you make a good point aobut the face, perhaps starting facing the camera direction (despite needing to go up instead of down) so the face is visible would have helped players clue into that?
Regardless, thanks for playing!
@guitarbro Yeah, I think facing the camera would work; when I was overwhelmed by all the text, the closest text was about using the coolant pumps on yourself, and the closest coolant pump was at the bottom, so that was where I headed first regardless of objective. Thanks for making a great game!
@papabirb good to know! It's always great to have record of player experiences since they often don't line up with dev expectations (as many of us here find out the hard way )
Amazing experience. One thing that got annoying is that when all enemies die and you don't want to die you kinda need to spam space and enter as to not overheat. I know fixing that during the jam was impossible, but if you will even want to go on with this idea you will either need to rethink level design or implement some sort of combat and standby mode, where one let's you walk freely when there are no enemies in the room and the other one is restricting your movement.
The idea of recharge stations is nice, except that they are only in one room. You probably ran out of time, but more levels should probably fix that.
Your camera system is very nice, but some kind of speed button would be nice (eg. if you press shift the camera increases speed).
Overall, this was a surprising well polished experience. Good job
@dock-frankenstein Yeah if we were to do a full game of this we'd probably add more depth to the movement system so it's not always risking instability when the room is clear. Being as it's relatively short with no need to kill the enemies at all, it seemed reasonable to just leave it as such. Some kind of auto-path-to-gate once enemies die might be a nice QoL improvement.
The recharge stations were intentionally a bit sparse to force the player to weigh making risky moves more heavily. Didn't want you to just breeze on through. Though I agree, they weren't explored to their fullest potential, largely due to the limited map size.
Your camera speed button suggestion is very good though, that would definitely be handy! I'm actually a bit surprised we didn't think of that as it's pretty straightforward to add.
And of course, thanks for taking the time to play!
Very polished, fluid gameplay and great audio and visuals. I like how days later, checking out the other games still surprises me because the quality of people's submissions is so good. Great work!
@exmxpx wow thanks! Glad you liked it.
Nice simple risk management mover. I like how well presented it is with the graphics and sound.
@ruruie wait, is that an actual thing? lol we just thought it would be a fun mechanic.
Thanks for playing!
Hmm... I don't know if it's formally a thing but it's definitely something I've seen before. Sometimes, rather than a "mech overheats" mechanic, it's set up so if you move fast, there's a chance to fail stealth or something like that. No sure! But when I played it, it fell neatly into that category in my head.
Loved the graphics and the rougelike turn mechanic.
@adam-martin thanks, glad you liked it!
@ruruie Battletech has a fairly similar mechanic with heat management, albeit for a very different gameplay mechanic. There are a few different games we took inspiration from for this, but that is one in particular that I thought about.
