I saved internet, yay! Music in this game is just brilliant, gameplay is fun (tho I really hate enemies, there seems no way to deal with them if they are behind, other than just running), graphics are simple but cool in a way. I had a fun time playing your game :D
Love the idea of having to repair an underwater network cable!

I love how simple the execution and the idea was also incorporating the theme, although the music was a bit loud
Nice graphics, very loud music, but overall atmospheric, the cable was repaired!
Cool idea! Nice implementation! Fun game in general :D

Fun game wish there were more levels! The mechanics were very simple and easy to understand and I liked how you implemented the movement. Game felt very smooth.

@michbet I am glad you liked it! I am going add more levels for the next version!
I think that enemies are a little too persistent, so they go from being no threat at all to a major unstoppable threat, but **overall, I thought this was charming AF**! I especially liked the "tank-like" controls which made a lot of sense here and made the game a little more zen-like by giving the player fewer choices to make in the moment (which is a good thing!).
There ended up being a lot of "deep sea" games in this jam, but yours is the one with the most fun unique premise. I really love the idea of repairing the underwater internet cables, and I encourage anyone to look up the subject if you're looking for some fascinating reading!

This game works surprisingly well, there's something between the incredibly cute submarine and the super pumped up music tha just works, really well!! The game is really simple yet very entertaining, it's very well put together. I'd personally ditch the shooting mechanic completely and make it all about movement!! Another thing I would've preffer is to use up and down instead of left and right.
Other than that, very cute and charming entry, love that sub! :D

Hello @webox! Thanks for the nice comment and the suggestions! I am glad you liked my game! I am planning to continue it!
Frankly? Not a fan of the sluggish movement speed and mashing attack. But the music is a bop.

Great game! So cool idea and mechanics. Good luck and my congratulations <3
This game has a good vibe ! It's very colorful and the music fit well the cute arts. It's a good mood game for sure.
Sharks are so funny, their animation make me laught
Maybe you should add mechanics to make the gameplay more addictive (like weapons and booster).
Overall good job !

Captain's Log submersible day 2021-05-01
We have fixed the internet. In total, three cuts were identified and succesfully fixed. Reportedly memes are flowing again and Facebook can resume spying on people's life. As expected, the sealife was very suspicious about our yellow submarine. In total, we had to take out three sharks and one octopus with our torpedoes. The XO will take care of the paperwork for wildlife protection agency. The crew is holding together well even after the long mission, it was a good idea to put on the extra-cheery music to improve morale.

Hi @joonamo! Thanks for the log style report that was awesome
Internet saved!
I liked the controls of this, as others have mentioned. They're very easy to pick up and work well for this type of game. The graphics are also a charming kind of simple, and the idea of repairing undersea cables is a fun one. This was a fun entry.
I always try to give some constructive feedback on entries, so I'll mention that it took me a few seconds to realize I had to drive into a cable to fix it. I tried shooting it and a few other things first! (Though, at least there weren't really any enemies around the first time.) As others mentioned, the music was a little loud.
Having the ability to shoot as a submarine felt natural, but I pretty much never used it. I pretty much just tried to avoid the enemies instead, which worked well enough. (Games don't always need a way to fight back against enemies!)
Overall I quite liked this- thanks for a fun game!

This was pretty good! The gameplay was simple but the audio and controls felt good. I would love to have seen more levels, but I get that time was probably tight. My only complaint is that the sharks might need some delay after attacking - I got into a situation early on where I couldn't turn fast enough to shoot a shark, so it kept attacking me and killed me from full health despite my attempts to shoot it. Outside of that this was a neat and tidy entry though. Nice work!

Hi @morrilet! I am glad you like my game! As you mentioned time was tight, but I am actually planning to make a post-jam version with more levels and content! I am taking note of all the really good feedback I have been getting and I am going to take that into account for that version as well, so I really appreciate the feedback.

I played all the way through! Good stuff. Well done! I think the control system needed some work - to try and vary the speed a bit / make it so you're not piloting inverted. Maybe a more asteroids / thrust / lunar lander type of control scheme with inertia and gravity etc. Well done for a decent overall game though - you had levels, a range of mechanics (lock & key, enemies), music etc. Quite complete! Keep up the good work - I hope to see an updated version with improvements some day!
Loved the artwork and the music (though please add a volume control ) Liked the inclusion of multiple enemy types but they seemed easy to out run (and hard to loop back and kill, ended up dancing in a circle with a shark). Felt a bit odd being upside down as I backtracked, but great job achieving multiple levels and mechanics into this, good job! :v:

Hi @leapyearboy! Thanks for the comment! And yes, many people have told me about the music volume control.... That is top on the list of things for the post-jam version! I am glad you liked my game!
Nice game, good-looking, very arcadey. Theme is hilarious. It would benefit from some attention to particular details. The fish move very fast for the chosen zoom level, so that it is difficult to see them coming and hit them. Some parts are just travel with no action, especially the first level. The death animation would look much nicer with the enemy not moving. Oh, and please flip the sub when it's upside down.

Hi @loveapplegames! I am glad you liked my game! I really appreciate the feedback, there are a bunch a things I want to improve for the post-jam version of the game. You are right with the enemies being hard to see when they are coming, I will have to come up with an idea for that... hmmm perhaps an animation whenever the enemy spot you and a sound so you know someone spotted you. About the death animation and the updside down sub, time was really tight haha! I have those on my list for the next version!
Cute and funny story wrapped around a decent exploration shooter experience.
I like the use of polka-dots in the background to help give reference when we're in open water.
I think you could afford to have more enemies, as long as they're not aggressive. Maybe just a few things that move back and forth like the shark, but don't go agro. That way you can give the player some more things to shoot at, which is a lot of fun.
The visuals get the job done, and the use of particles is a nice touch.
a short but sweet and playable experience, good job!

I'm glad to see another inkscape artist. I don't think the levels needed to contain as much space as they did - I felt that I spent a lot of time waiting for my sub to transit from one place to another. In particular, returning from the cable to the start point seemed purposeless to me, since by that point I had already killed the enemies, so I was just killing time. Fighting when I can only shoot forward is awkward, but I think it's a reasonable way to reward people for using stealth or tactical retreat instead of taking fights. Health pickups were so generous that I never felt I was in danger, though. Good work!

Hi @piscythe, it is always nice to find other Inkscape artists! You are right about the levels, I should make them a bit more compact for the next version. I was thinking about making the levels in such away that exit is somewhere else so that there are still more things to do while reaching for the exit. Thanks for the feedback, I am going to take it into account when making the post-jam version!

Pretty cool idea. I think it needs some balancing, and a few minor things, like a better system for progressiong through levels rather than just backtracking, but you're on to something here. A little more work and I think this could turn into something really cool.

hi @zanderpm, thanks for your comment and I am glad you liked my game! You are right about the balancing, I have been working on a post-jam version taking into account all the feedback I have gotten so far. In the next version I added some more feedback for the player to tell whenever an enemy spotted them and is about to start a chase and also you can now hide from them and they will stop chasing you. I have been thinking about either removing the backtracking phase or putting the exit on another part of the level, but I haven't decided yet. I really appreciate all the feedback I have been getting!
