Cool game! Definitely has some nice potential for expanding. Would've liked to see a way to hire more dwarves to scale upwards, but still fun to play! (A mute button would also be nice!)

Hey I like the concept but it is very sloooow gameplay. These type of games are usually the best if there is too much things you have to manage and you increase your productivity by skilled management.

extar 2021-04-26 18:21

I like ambience of the game, the sounds of the dwarves working, the rumble as you dug deeper, all very evocative. There's some nice gameplay ideas, balancing out work and rest for the team of dwarves was quite fun. The start of the game was very slow, but it did pick up later and get more challenging. I think some more pop-ups and animations on the different menus/tooltips would really help make it clearer for new players. Great job. :)

Great game. The audio was really good and the interface was well though out. I was almost moved to tears by the little death whistle and march.

kieron-woodhouse 2021-04-26 18:30

I really liked this. It looks and sounds good, and the gameplay is fun. I only wish there was something bigger to work towards. That would have kept me playing for longer. As it was, I didn't see much reason to keep digging!

zimny11 2021-04-26 19:19

I love dwarfs! Great game. The funeral was truly amazing! Is there an end to this game? I was playing a little bit longer than I intended ;)

@zimny11 Hey, thanks for playing!. (Un)fortunately, there is no real ending to this game, but let's say you finished the game since you managed to reach deeper levels than we did!

geckoo1337 2021-04-26 19:29

Really interesting gameplay with many features. I am not a big fan of this genre, but yours is really well done. Sounds are fun especially when it's time to drink a fresh beer :)

thoastbot 2021-04-26 19:43

Your sounds were just perfect for the mood of the game, loved it! The start took me a littlebit to long, maybe you should´ve made it a bit cheaper even tho i get why you did it  Overall i feel like this is a solid entry, well done!

marcoming 2021-04-26 20:19

Very cool game! I have to admit that it took me few minutes to understand the gameplay mechanics, but I like it! well done!

brendev 2021-04-27 14:12

Fun game! I do think this has a lot of potential with different upgrades and such. With the linear upgrade tree there isn't a ton of variation in upgrades, which could be a really cool way to make each experience different. Overall though I was very impressed, the rhythmic gameplay of sleeping and mining and managing all felt fun and not too difficult. Overall I had a blast playing, good work, please let me know if you add more mechanics in the future, I'd totally play it again!

profan 2021-04-27 18:43

Poor boorin! The one who died for my boundless greed, but deeper yet the mines must go...

Missing an incenctive for digging deeper since you can't get more dwarves, just the satisfaction of seeing your mine extend to ridiculous depths? The sounds to go with each action was a nice touch :)

I don't like idle games in general, but this one I really don't mind! It's charming!

dazrow 2021-04-27 20:00

Wow, thats a cool touch to digging clicker/strategy game. The graphics are also quite cute, well done! I wish build times were a bit more quick and also resolution was a bit problematic for my screen - couldn't see some elements. Anyway, I'd love to play full game like that Also it looks quite vibing with our game too heh I'd appreciate if you could check it out aswell

osel13 2021-04-28 10:59

I liked it very much, the funreal is a really nice touch. After first few levels it gets repetetive, but in regards to the fact, that it is a Jam game, it does not matter. Good job!

legolula 2021-04-28 11:08

This was fun! I spent more time than I am willing to admit on this game, congrats! I do agree that an objective and some extra depth (ahah) to this game would do it good if you keep building on this game

berlm 2021-04-28 11:08

Really great game, great idea, but a few things I found that could be improved were: - The how to play session was a little messy, not a directed order to read in - The instructions weren't so clear in the beginning

Leaving that aside, after getting to know how it works properly, the game was great to play!

bogurodzica 2021-04-28 13:58

Wow, it take me a while to understand the basic mechanics but after that I truly enjoyed the session. Is there a possibility to end the game?

mira 2021-04-28 14:11

@bogurodzica Unfortunately, there was no time left for the real end of the game. We came up with a few endings to the game, but in the end we went to test the game and fix some serious bugs. We are seriously thinking about the postLD version, we have a really large supply of unused ideas. mesitertask.png

noel-widmer 2021-04-28 14:23

Is there a way to get dead dwarfs back? We loved the death guys and their whisling. We didn't understand why we weould want to sleep if we can just drink ... The noises were A+ create work on that :D

laurent 2021-04-28 14:26

A very nice entry! I can definitely see the potentital for a very good clicker, even if it lacks features for now :) And the funeral was amazing

bogurodzica 2021-04-28 14:50

@mira If you will plan update the game, please keep me updated also :D

mira 2021-04-28 17:18

@noel-widmer Unfortunately, it is not possible to get a dead dwarf back in this version. However, even this has been the subject of debate and prioritization. One of the ideas was even to be able to raise a new dwarf in the dwarf school, or to hire a dwarf in a pub for a small amount of gold. For a while, we even considered rescuing the overwhelmed dwarves on the way deeper. Rescued dwarves would strengthen the dwarven team.

Sleep is an inefficient use of time. It's much better to go for a beer. Every dwarf has known that since he was a child. :beers:

Our "very first patron" helped us with the sound. We also believe that it added quality to the game.

mira 2021-04-28 17:23

@bogurodzica We would just like to rewrite the game from scratch, due to lack of time we made quite a mess in the code. :pig:

We will be happy to inform you about it. :writing_hand:

keridana 2021-04-28 18:05

It's a cool game. I liked the sound and especially the mooing of the gnomes. Very cool idea with the beer bar. Nice graphics. But very slow moving game, there is space for new mechanics.

human-writes-code 2021-04-29 07:07

Good game! I liked the art style, animations and the general concept. I feel like it could have done with some music and perhaps a little more variety such as random events to keep things interesting. However, it is very well done for a jam game. Good work!

fluffygamedev 2021-04-29 13:34

Fun little game! I love the art style and the little details (like the coffin dance XD). Good job!

langotriel 2021-04-30 13:13

Gotta say, I love the soundscapes, both above and below ground

What is here is quite fun. I see you have talked about a post jam version and I would encourage it! Maybe some artefacts to be found? Maybe a town above ground as well as dwellers in the caves? Maybe let the builder build beds to increase sleeping speed? So many ideas come to mind! I look forward to what you come up with!

great entry!

digital-bacon 2021-05-02 12:49

That's a fun little game! Totally adored the dwarf funeral! Love the graphics and the humour. Terrific entry, can't wait to see what you do with it!

pkenney 2021-05-04 02:55

Calm, chill experience with the nice little sound effects from the dwarves and their digging! I had a bit of fun but I didn't want to manage them for all that long because there wasn't that much for me to do after I'd gotten the systems down. Idle games aren't usually my kind of thing, so just a matter of taste.

You did achieve a nice chill vibe though, good work! The graphics were also very nice, and the little funeral was awesome, great touch.

f1krazy 2021-05-08 16:53

A neat little idle/management game. There's a gentle, natural progression of difficulty as you dig deeper and deeper, and a bit of strategy starts to come into it, too; do you just send your dwarves to sleep and waste digging time, or do you send them all the way up to the tavern and risk them not making it? Do you leave it to the last second to restore their energy, or play it safe and (again) waste a bit of time? The fact each dwarf has their own unique strength really plays into the strategy as well.

The graphics are sound are very well done, too. A couple of people have noted the way the ambient sound changes depending on how deep you are, but I also noticed the terrain subtly changes as well: at Level 10 there are grey flecks added in, and at Level 20 there are golden flecks instead. It provides a real sense of progression, and a sense that yes, there really is more gold the deeper you dig.

I managed my dwarves well enough that I never got to see the funeral scene, I might have to go back and deliberately kill a dwarf just to see it :joy:

One thing I wish this had is a save system, so you can stop playing and come back to it later. It's really an essential feature for any idle-esque game. I got to Level 23 before deciding I should probably quit and write this review, or else I might end up playing it all day, but I would have loved to have been able to come back to that run instead of starting all over from scratch.

I really hope you do make a post-jam version of this, with a save function and some of the other improvements that have been mentioned, because I'd honestly pay money on Steam for one. It's already that addictive.

gamescodedogs 2021-05-18 06:17

Overall, I think the game has great potential.
