The download link is broken. Try to get a link from google drive :)

caladrius 2021-04-28 15:40

Always looking out for another goblin-themed game - let me know when you get the download link sorted!

aurel 2021-05-17 03:27

Hey all - I've been on vacation the past few weeks, but it turns out my partners were also too busy to even check the jam page lol and let me know that that link wasn't working. I'm arriving back from vacation soon and I'll find tonight out why my personal server link isn't working. If I can't fix it I'll get y'all a build up on itch or something. The game is a bit incomplete, but that's ok.

EDIT: Got back from my vacation to my dev machine and have replaced the build. Looks like my personal server is yelling about the large file size and refused to serve the zip - my bad!

aurel 2021-05-18 02:17

@lorwon @caladrius - since my server wasn't serving the right zip, I've put it up on itch. Thanks!

I am the fastest little goblin! It's so much fun...but also full-on crashed right after the studio splash screen the first time running the unity file, and my computer was becoming either a convection oven or a fighter jet within a minute on the second try. This is a very nice laptop, so I don't think it's a potato computer issue. And nothing but the play button on the start menu worked, so I don't even remember if there may have been settings of some kind.

So I closed the game, using its exit button successfully, before I left the tutorial area (was busy checking that sprinting toward the ledge would let me jump further and was not disappointed) and before anything caught fire. But the motion, graphics, and sound set a lovely mood. Being tiny and speedy and full of wanton destruction (okay maybe that was more brought on by the "how long can I let my laptop suffer for my joy?" question) was a great experience. Sorry you're cutting it so close on getting enough ratings to rank, but congrats on completing the jam and thank you for sharing!

Very nice game, it was actually enough content for a jam game I think, so good job guys! Nice visuals and music, but the death animations were pretty strange

jarnero 2021-05-18 12:31

SO first of all - you worked hard and done well! Thats was REALLY fan and i so hope that you will work on it with postjam version. Anyhow - i have found some bags: Screenshot_7.png if you trow some spears inside traps - it wont work, becouse of collisions. Screenshot_8.png It wouldnt work if there is NO COLLISION - ha-ha^_^ Screenshot_9.png I am still dont understand - am i should do something with it, or its like a decoration>?

So thanks for game and dont be sad becouse of some folks that past away. You three - a heroes, that make a great game. By the way - you can find me anywhere as @Jarnero \JarneroGD so we can talk about your game lately. I am gamedesigner, btw. See you^3 Screenshot_10.png Nice team Screenshot_11.png And nice ending. GJ!

nice little game, with a few tweaks it could have been a great small experience. For future reference I think the amount of content is fine, if you had more people I would have focused on polished what is.

felo07 2021-05-18 16:15

Hey man, you have a amazing game in here! Graphics and music are amazing, the sound effect of grabin the goblet its a bit annoying, but for the rest very good! Your game remembers me Banjo-Kazooie, on this game you have to take musical notes to open locked doors! Few tips for the future of your game: Maybe to put the types of guns on the numbers 1,2,3...it would be muchs easier to swap in the middle of the game! Also the whip collision was too small I guess, it was very hard to hit enemies with it. And the final thing (but maybe this is more for an full version game) you could do a phase inside each door, and keep the goblets more hide, to be difficult to go to the next phase! Your game is very good, keep with the good work, congrats =)

Hey your game is really fun. It has the potential to be a bigger game if you wish. The graphics are well produced, as well as the music is good. I really liked the gameplay, it's fun to kill enemies with different types of weapons. Oh and the use of bombs reminded me very zelda. Anyway, I just think that the platform mechanics can be a little more refined, if you allow me to suggest something. Congratulations.

skosnowich 2021-05-18 16:54

Really liked this game. Especially the graphics and general atmosphere of the game feels great. If you didn't mention that you're "just" the substitution audio guy, I hadn't noticed. I think the sound and music add well together to the game. Of course, some sort of battle theme in between would've been nice, but seeing what you managed to do under that circumstances, was already great.

I didn't really see the use of the whip after you got the spear, but maybe it would've gotten its importance in later levels. The AI, as you already wrote, feels pretty stupid, but hey they're goblins after all. The frogs jump-distance sometimes frightened me a little bit, somehow the animation and the distance doesn't fit together and you're expecting shorter jumps.

I'd loved to see the other levels, but this small "demo" of your game already feels very polished. The loading screen is really cool.

I hope I managed to get all goblets, the number is suspiciously relating to Ludum Dare.

@skosnowich - there are 48 goblets in there for exactly that reason. I threw in the last three at the end just to get it to 48 so it'd match the jam number :)

Thanks for the kind words about the music - I'm no musician, but I can play a few instruments rather poorly. I have no idea how our music usually does this lol

As for the weapons... the spears are technically supposed to be limited in number. You can TECHNICALLY pick up spears after they fall on the ground, but were running into issues with them flying through geometry and didn't have time to fix the collision interpolation, so we just decided to make spears infinite at the last second. We also didn't have time to make pickups for spears.

Technically, the goblins are SUPPOSED to drop Sacks of Spears, which were supposed to be pickups...

Basically, the whip was supposed to be the "You don't have any more ammo, so you need a basic attack"

Cool, it is really fun to play, with nice graphics and environment too!

An impressive amount here for a jam entry. The first person platforming wasn't great because the movement was very floaty. Didn't give me too much trouble though. I mostly just ignored the mean goblins. They didn't seem much to be very good at aiming. I like the bat creatures. The art style made all the creatures look too friendly to have to go round murdering them all.

zimny11 2021-05-18 17:33

"Frogs sometimes fall off the map" is not a sentence I thought I would read today :)

Great job one the game!

macaroni-dev 2021-05-18 17:34

I couldn't get the game to run - something about "page fault on 32-bit read access." To be fair, I was trying to run it with Wine (tried both 32- and 64-bit) on Linux (NixOS.)

I did get to hear the frog sounds though! :frog:

asdehielo 2021-05-18 18:24

Amazing looking game. This is just insane for a game jam, there is so much content and in 3D, props for that! A few suggestions: - The aiming seems a bit off, specially with the spears. - I think the movement is too floaty for the platforming sections, maybe reduce the inertia - There seems to be no reason to have limited bombs, it can lead to people getting stuck unable to break the brick walls.

Amazing job, congrats!

woolchara 2021-05-18 19:42

I didn't understand what to do with the cups, how to get past the obstacle where 2 cups are drawn. I really liked the audio and HUD. Although everything is very blurry in motion

kr0s 2021-05-18 19:52

Great game, I liked the graphics style. Impressive job for a three-day game. And I made it to the rating with 8 minutes to spare.

scruffylooking2121 2021-05-18 20:22

I had a really fun time with this. When I eventually knocked a Darkwing out of the sky above with a spear, I felt incredible. The animations were really good, although until today I didn't know that a living pile of goo had to turn and face me to attack. I appreciated the pop-up help messages. Really well done!
