Very hard game, I found myself drowning several times before I could beat the fist level, the controls for the character are a little off, overall a good entry tho! Well done!

divford 2021-04-27 13:56

I like the concept, and the game looks great. However, I tried the second level a few times, and although I'm pretty sure I got all the buttons, the gate never opened. Am I missing something?

tino 2021-04-27 14:04

Since you didn't opt-out of the Graphics rating category I assume you made them during the Jam? if yes I'm blown away!!

I'm stuck at level 2, can't find any more buttons (found the one in the furniture crowded room on the right) and the gate isn't opening even tho all is green. (Probably I'm just bad and not finding a hidden one).

The homemade music rocks!

Controls are a bit annoying, I'm pressing two keys simultaneously 90% of the time just move, maybe rotate directions by 45 degrees? (ex "W" would go north-east or north-west).

Overall, Well done!

The concept is pretty cool. Learning that you needed to find hidden buttons or move objects on top of buttons was quite enjoyable and straight forward.

gulcasa 2021-04-27 14:09

Honestly kind of impressive. The graphics are great for a jam game (almost too great lol), the music sounds alright but is way too quiet. The character handles kind of sluggishly, but that's not a big problem until you have to fiddle with the boxes to press switches. Isometric controls (e.g. W goes northeast) would probably make it feel a bit more intuitive. Little bit of trial and error, but that's alright. Time limit feels a bit too strict at times. Once I got to level 3 (or was it 4?), with the timed switches, I couldn't for the life of me manage to drop the ledge box onto the button, even when I tried to walk very softly the box just vastly overshot the button, and I gave up after a half dozen tries.

Good game. It has a lot of tension. The controls feel clumsy unfortunately. It's difficult, but we made it to the third level.

gekko 2021-04-27 14:32

The overall game is a bit to difficult for a ludum dare entry, especially with the frustrating controls and frustrating levels (hiding buttons) also in the main menu, buttons for Credits and Tutorial are switched around :D

flashviper 2021-04-27 14:46

This game is a great concept, and the execution is mostly there. However, there are a few problems:

- The isometric style of the game looked great but controlled awkwardly - The player got caught on many parts of the level geometry, including the grates. (I've made games like this before, and it's always a pain because more often than not, it's the engine's fault) I probably would have enjoyed the game a lot more if I didn't lose so much precious time getting caught on grates. - The water comes a little too soon. This wouldn't be as bad if it weren't for the above, but because everything is so tight, it makes it super frustrating when you mess up (or get caught on a grate), especially since there's no restart button

Despite all this, the gameplay has real promise and the art style is amazing! You should definitely consider taking this concept further

Really cool concept and graphics, though in need of balancing. Combining the collision issues with how punishing the time limit is leads to a frustrating game.

Nice entry overall!

borkagrim 2021-04-27 20:21

Thanks for the feedback all! Especially the idea of rotating the controls 45 degree, why didn't I think of that!? :D

First off apologies for the crushing difficultly curve, we had originally planned 6 levels with a couple more intermediate levels but we ran out of time, so you certainly do get thrown in the deep end! (PUN INTENDED)

Full disclosure is all of the art for the prefabs is from a pack on the asset store, its only our 3rd jam (my 2nd) and none of the 3 of us are particularity well versed at the speed 3d modeling we would have needed to accomplish our design. Blurry eyed at 2 o'clock in the morning hastily writing up a credit screen (and then hooking it up backwards, thank you for pointing that out!) this was unfortunately missed, so let me correct that now and credit the source as "Low Poly Dungeon Asset Pack" by Miguel Lobo (assetstore.unity.com/packages/3d/environments/dungeons/low-poly-dungeon-asset-pack-151244). Thank you for the awesome pack that let us (mainly) finish a game in time.

Let me know in your comments if you find the secret area? ;)

Borka.

First of all: if all of the art is from a pack I'd suggest you opt-out from the Graphics rating category if that's still possible (I don't think it is though..). Else it's something to keep in mind for next time. I made it to the third level, with the timed buttons. The game is decently fun to play, but I got stuck on objects a lot and I gave up playing after not being able to throw the crate onto the button at the left side of the map. I tried about 10 times and I just couldn't do it, it was very frustrating. Also at first I thought the player movement/handling of direction change was very annoying, but I got used to it after a while and it actually became fun as I pretended to be a drunk castle guard running around in the sewage while yelling "Weeeeee" all the time :) Even though the gameplay is simple, it still seems to be a good starting point for a more developed, balanced and polished game! Congratulations on creating and submitting it!

I liked the game it was a bit difficult, but I liked the challenge. I think the concept was great and the puzzles too. Thanks for your work.

kfischer-okarin 2021-05-01 13:40

Nice graphics and fun game. The somewhat flimsy controls added a bit of difficulty... Good job!

yamzho 2021-05-01 16:21

Realy liked the game, but maybe controls could be a bit better. Overall, a very great entry ! Well done !

ryan-dotsikas 2021-05-01 16:25

Awesome job! I was very impressed with the graphics so I was sorry to hear that you used an asset pack (im not sure if it is too late to opt out of graphics or not) but this was fun! Like others have said, it can take a little bit to get a hang of the controls. I like the way he accelerates, it makes it fun to zoom down straight lines but turning can for sure be a problem. I lost on I believe the 3rd level, placing heavy blocks on purple buttons under the water. It got a little finicky with make sure they didnt bounce too far and they actually stayed on the button. Wouldve been nice to teach some of those button mechanics more, but it's a game jam so that totally makes sense! Great job, loved the application of the theme too!

yellowsalamander 2021-05-01 16:28

Flimsy controls that actually made the game funnier. The box physics were also funnily unpolished. I liked the detail that the light objects rose up on top of the water (except the golden goblet ???), also how the torches extinguished. Good entry!!

Enjoyed it a lot. Managed to finish it, felt quite rewarding doing so. Music is exceptional, still humming it. Controls are good didn't have the same problems as other comments really. The boxes fly a bit when pushing off so you need to tap gently to push it? Only difficulty I had was I ran into the wall/door a bit but it was fun perfecting each run. The consequences of failure just mean another run and each run you perfect it. I enjoyed that a lot. Really cool and in line with the theme.

ping78 2021-05-02 02:17

Love the level design you even put an easter egg in level 2.

magnanix 2021-05-02 05:53

The poor knight was drowned many times under my watch, no matter what I did I seem to have missed something on level 2, pressing all 5 buttons that appear didn't open the gate, so I kept drowning right outside of it XD. Nice idea, good work :).

chillen 2021-05-06 20:17

I think the game could be pretty fun, but right now I just personally find the WASD control way too clunky. Speculating, but if the clunkyness were removed (say by moving the mouse around and having the avatar follow the mouse) I feel like it might get a bit boring (Randomly run around the level to learn the buttons, click buttons, leave). So if clunky controls aren't intended, then I feel like the game might get a bit simple with "fixed" controls, and the inclusion of some more movement verbs could help add some moment-to-moment decision making(dashes, rolls, jumps).

Pretty cool, though! Also definitely make sure to opt-out of graphics/audio next year if you don't make the graphics/audio, but I think you already know that at this point :)

ardorugus 2021-05-06 23:25

Didn't get the puzzles. You step, them - green, nothing. And it's not very cool to just run away, escape. A sword or something to break crates could bring more fun. But the overall design and music are exciting!

mhanapole 2021-05-15 01:58

Cool game and unique concept! I struggled a lot with the controls, which made the game difficult. I also would have liked more of an indication of where all of the buttons were - I spent most of my time trying to find them. I liked the visuals a lot though.

trixydevs 2021-05-15 02:08

i quite enjoyed this game and all of its amazing art and music! the only thing that I would really want is a restart button nice job :D

pirate-rob 2021-05-15 13:28

A very evil game for hiding all the buttons, but looks/sounds good! My main issue was getting stuck on corners but other than that seems solid
