LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Very cool! 3D games in a jam are always kind of impressive to me, especially for a one man job. Atmosphere and music are great, graphics are honestly cute. Camera FOV is too short and the camera speed too quick, so I got nauseated rather fast.

Hellbearer: The Deepening by jelch 2021-04-27T20:39:27Z

Really quite fun! Probably the only game I've played so far here where I would actually consider replaying it for fun. Audio design could use work, and maybe the weaker enemies should die more quickly, but it's very enjoyable overall.

Very addictive! I did play a lot of Motherload back then, and this scratches the same itch. Graphics are very basic but serviceable, and the gameplay loop is nice, but you need a final goal (unless I failed to reach it and didn't notice). Oxygen takes too long to recover after a couple upgrades, and I could use a counter for how many of each upgrade I've already bought.

Tower Tower Defence Defence by IAmWave 2021-04-27T20:58:00Z

Incredible. Very novel concept, works fine. Kinda gets a little too easy after some 20 waves once you manage to improve your first world towers enough, but that's hard to balance.

Gulp! by oramun 2021-04-27T14:09:12Z

Honestly kind of impressive. The graphics are great for a jam game (almost too great lol), the music sounds alright but is way too quiet. The character handles kind of sluggishly, but that's not a big problem until you have to fiddle with the boxes to press switches. Isometric controls (e.g. W goes northeast) would probably make it feel a bit more intuitive. Little bit of trial and error, but that's alright. Time limit feels a bit too strict at times. Once I got to level 3 (or was it 4?), with the timed switches, I couldn't for the life of me manage to drop the ledge box onto the button, even when I tried to walk very softly the box just vastly overshot the button, and I gave up after a half dozen tries.

Third Party by Duckonaut 2021-04-27T14:23:26Z

Far and away the most impressive game I've played so far on LD48. The graphics, art design, sound and overall presentation are terrific. Gameplay is also pretty great, but it's often buggy or behaves in unexpected ways, like shots going clear through your meat shield even when hitting dead-on. Game froze on me on the "kill them all" level, too.

The Chase by Nikl 2021-04-27T13:50:01Z

Actually pretty fun! Music was fine (maybe a bit too quiet), could use a couple more sound effects and/or polish on the graphics, but the whole thing worked very well and I enjoyed it.

Lonely Sound by Ethanthopkins 2021-04-27T16:38:24Z

Pretty nice! It's obviously simple, but it doesn't feel sloppy at all. The soundtrack was actually pretty good, some slight challenge, and it flows by quickly enough that the downsides aren't grating. Game ran on a weird resolution that was larger than my monitor's vertical resolution and some of the game box was hanging offscreen. Consider picking a nice free-use font for the next time!
