Cool game! That jump sound nearly gave me a heart attack the first time tho.

vooku 2020-10-05 20:18

I like the music! The movement seems a little of though

blue-pin-studio 2020-10-06 23:31

The download doesn't have the executable

Fun game with good music. Controls are a little rough for my taste but nothing that was game breaking. Good job.

You can edit the project on itch.io to set "Kind of project" to be "HTML" and check "This file will be played in the browser" on the file, after which the game will be playable on the page. It doesn't load for me after I downloaded because of CORS policy doesn't recognize the source.

sandpile 2020-10-07 22:03

I can't play the game! It says you haven't uploaded g game yet!

thiago-nascimento 2020-10-07 22:32

stellarbeargames 2020-10-08 23:18

Are you going to reupload it?

flazone 2020-10-08 23:51

Can't play! Reincarnation (Game) by Omeletton - Google Chrome.jpg

omeletton 2020-10-10 18:25

Sorry for the missing file, I have removed it for some reason... Should be fixed now!

squareworx-studio 2020-10-11 08:06

Fun little game, the jumping mechanic was a little bit wonky, I wasn't able to get through the whole level, about to the second ghost encounter. but there is a lot to expand upon. I would've totally liked a checkpoint system. For a first attempt I would say this was a solid one!

omeletton 2020-10-11 19:29

@sandpile, @thiago-nascimento, @aless, @kharath, @flazone, @robin49, @stellarbeargames I have reuploaded the game, I have taken it down by accident for two days, but now I have also included a WebGL (HTML5) file, so you could play it in the browser. Sorry for that...

Had a hard time with the platforming. The lines sticking out of the ground looked like checkpoints but I started at the beginning was made it a bit tedious to play over again. Nice job on your first jam game.

sherwin-claridge 2020-10-12 16:33

Great effort for your 1st jam! I like the detail in the player sprite and environments. Music's cool too. I was in the same boat 5 months ago. The difference between my games from LD46 and this jam (https://ldjam.com/users/sherwin-claridge/games) is night and day. I started with the basics of 2D platforming and kept learning from there. Check out Cinemachine for the camera too. Good luck!

simplepotential 2020-10-12 16:38

Art was really good, so was sound. Jumping only seemed to work correctly when moving to the right. Moving to the left and jumping only worked half the time. Unfortunately I couldn't ever make it past the first bit of water you find.

coderaurus 2020-10-12 16:39

Congrats for you first jam game! I really like the music, gets you in the mood well. The controls were pretty rough, especially jumping while moving caused me headache. Otherwise platforming was nice. The second ghost part is hard. I think improving controls and maybe adding checkpoints could do the trick and improve the game quite a bit.

omeletton 2020-10-12 17:46

@coderaurus thanks for the feedback, I really enjoy making the game and I am planning the make a post jam version, the checkpoint idea is great tho.

nikolay-zapolnov 2020-10-12 20:38

Nice game! For me the player moves too fast, I expected it to be a bit slower. Also, I was surprised that jump is done by Up Arrow. I would expect a Space, for example. Thanks for including the controls hint at the game start though :)

peace-of-cake-games 2020-10-16 21:59

Good job! The audio, story, and world design were all nice. I disagree with the above comment and think that you did the best possible controls. Aside from my game, all other platformers I've seen use Space to jump, and I think it's a bad key because you have to have two hands controlling what could be done with three keys all right beside each other. There were a few problems with the game though: the spikes weren't quite aligned with the ground, and the camera wasn't positioned good at all. I couldn't even see the bottoms of the character's legs most of the time, so I could never see where to jump next. Also, the ground is very uneven and it makes it impossible to jump unless you stand still. Other than those issues, fantastic job on your game!

omeletton 2020-10-18 18:03

@peace-of-cake-games thx for your feedback it really means a lot
