Fun idea, I know it's called an "experience" but it could've benefitted from some actual gameplay besides fixing the skipping now and then
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD47 → 33 loop

Great 3D models. Nice working simulator
That's a really interesting idea.
Really neat experiment. I imagine compositing all that together and "simulating" the shadows was a challenge.
I had a pleasant experience :)
Very nice - you're right to say not quite a game but I enjoyed the experience, quite calming!
@hank-ather Thanks! It took a long time getting the pieces to work together. In the 'About' part of the game it shows how the model was split so it would work properly in the game engine. The album spinning animation was made up of 80 sprites, the tone-arm animation was 203 sprites, and the speed/play buttons were two sprites each.
This is a sincerely beautiful creation. The music sounds like it belongs in a triple-A title (and in slow playback speed it gave me some serious Life Is Strange series vibes, which I loved), and the graphics fit the atmosphere perfectly. Thank you for sharing this.
Pretty serene experience, love the atmosphere created. As a lover of vinyl records, I really enjoyed this entry, cool entry!
Interesting and relaxing experience. It would be great to be able to open your mp3 files or something and add all the vinyl imperfections to your own set of music.
Just Beautiful
@bereg yeah I was thinking of doing something like that if I do anything with the project when the jam is over. Thanks for playing!
A relaxing experience, good for a break between playing the other compo games. Did you have any ideas for a game around this?
Nice little record player. If it was something I could add my own music it would be more interesting. Non the less nice relaxing game you have.
Unique. Very relaxing, loved the mood. I left the tab opened in my browser with the music looping for a while... :v:
(thought it was 3D at first, well done!)
The music is good and the pictures are cool. You can play in a relaxed and relaxed manner. :)
A lot of great details here: the lighting, the occasional skipping, the ability to switch between 33 and 45rpm.... absolutely fantastic job! I'm a huge fan of some ambient project like William Bassinski/The Caretaker who experiment with the gradual deterioration of loops and this gave me fantastic vibes in that direction. For a compo entry it's really amazing, and i think if you were to take some time to push this even further you could make a really stunning piece of art. great work :3
btw. it's totally up to you how you categorize this, but don't be afraid to call it a game if you do see it that way. in my eyes at least, any sort of interactive audio/visual experience like this more than qualifies as a "game" if you want to treat it as such.
@andrew-marsh thanks for playing! I plan to expand on this in the future by either making it so you can play additional songs or I will likely use this in other game projects.
@eskooh Yeah, I was thinking about expanding it so you can play more music or even your own music. Thanks for playing.
@nethead Thanks! I also like William Bassinski's work, he has done some interesting projects. I plan to expand on this idea in the future. Thanks again for playing.
I recommend trying this out http://www.overthetinyhills.com/ It's a similar experience with a very different mood. The feelings I got from this were that of class and simplicity. Sometimes just a touch of interactivity is all you need. Kudos.
Really cool experiment, relaxing and very polished. I especially like the small details, like the irregularity of the light bouncing off the record, or the record not spinning in a perfect circle, just like with a real turntable. If I had to say something, I wish there was a feedback on the interactible parts. But that's already a cool entry, with a nice take on the theme.
Nice job and experiment!
Really enjoyed this and thought the 2d/3d experiment was a nice experiment within the game jam format. Can you add a window with rain outside and I can open and close the window to increase and decrease the rain volume? Would be cool to also have multiple records I could play around with.
nice demo, simple and very polished
Nice graphics :v:
An experience, exactly as described :) The speeding up and slowing down effects are well done!
Of course after staring at it for a while one starts noticing little missing details like the tonearm not moving up and down with the warps of the record, and not moving towards the middle. I guess it's not a *real* turntable after all :)
@frank-gevaerts yeah there are a lot of little things that needs more work and there are a few shadow issues. Thanks for checking it out.
Cool experience :) Interesting to see something different!
