I'd love to play this if you can do a web or Mac build.

steve-sparkes 2020-04-21 19:56

This is such a cool concept for a game! I have to admit I was a bit disappointed that I'm playing as a conductor and don't get to use the mouse to control the baton. :(

I think the gameplay could be a lot more interesting if you were redirecting orbs using the baton. But what you have is still cool, just a little difficult to control!

I think the theme and the artstyle you went with really stands out compared to a lot of the entries for this jam, and it's definitely one of the stronger points of your game for me. Really good job, and keep making games!

gus-goucher 2020-04-21 19:57

Seems insanely difficult but I love the art! The animations are great too.

xenith 2020-04-21 19:58

funny voxel style, was a nice fresh experience, best of luck in the contest!!

noel-widmer 2020-04-21 19:58

The music is awesome. Did you made that yourself? Very impressive! It was a fun experience to listen to the music and run around like an idiot for a few minutes :P I pushed some balls into the corner and couldn't get them out anymore. And balls behind the boxes cannot really be seen anymore.

johannimations 2020-04-21 20:00

@steve-sparkes Thank you so much for the feedback. The idea with the baton is really good! I have to admit, that gameplay could be more interesting. But i really do see potential in your idea. I really concentrated on the music, as i'm a musician myself and wanted it to stand out.

johannimations 2020-04-21 20:02

@yodog Your right, but I'm kind of new to game development and never managed tomake other builds, i'll try again though and am going to inform you as soon as it works, would be glad if you could check then, if it all works.

aphid98 2020-04-21 20:03

Haha! This had me dying.

Music was definitely loud, and matched the in-your face style of the game. the camera perspective made it hard to see the orbs, but again the game lends itself to the "Win me you won't" style.

Well done!

johannimations 2020-04-21 20:05

@noel-widmer I am aware of all these flaws but as it is so often the case in game jams you don't always have the time to fix it. Indeed i did the music all by myself and put a lot of effort into it, as thats my main strength, and that took a lot of time as well.

awelotta 2020-04-21 20:10

The music is pretty cool, esp. if you made all of it. I could totally see it used in a zany point and click game.

bastian-bresson 2020-04-21 20:12

Cute animations, good music, and good idea. The horizontal movement was unexpectedly high.

johannimations 2020-04-21 20:13

@aphid98 XD glad you liked it. It definetely needs some more balancing

noel-widmer 2020-04-21 20:20

@johannimations The sound is truly impressive. It reminds me of Banjo Kazooooie's music; especially Freezy Peak (youtube.com/watch?v=bKv9WeS8BOs). Maybe it's just similar because the instruments seem to be similar :P In my previous comment I just wanted to let you know about the issues. I always like to know where the biggest problems are. Sometimes us developers focus on issues that don't seem to be very important. And to hear what truly bothers the players can be very interesting.

shigure 2020-04-21 20:22

Wow, this was fun. I never knew conductors were related to Sonic the Hedgehog, because he is real fast. Controls were hard to deal with, but for some reason it felt like part of the fun. Would've liked to see shadows underneath the orbs, as it was a bit hard to see where exactly they were at times. Difference between the colors were also a bit hard to see, might be a problem for color blind people. Really good entry, had a blast playing this!

fpgames 2020-04-21 20:35

I really liked the music. It was hard to control but overall it's pretty good. :)

johannimations 2020-04-21 20:37

@noel-widmer of course, you're right, Thanks for the feedback! And good luck with your own entry!

johannimations 2020-04-21 20:39

@awelotta Yeah the music is all done by myself, im pretty proud of it, i think it's the central reason for the game to exist. Thanks for the feedback!

fupi 2020-04-22 23:35

I really liked your interpretation of the theme, your music and the idea of leading the balls to the musicians. I think this game would be improved massively just by making it a top-down perspective instead of isometrical. For example, it feels like you walk too slowly going up and down, and way too fast going sideways, and it's hard to see where the balls are. The game is also quite long so when I lost I didn't feel like doing it all again. I'd love to see this idea expanded.

johannimations 2020-04-22 23:38

@fupi You're absolutelly right, i did the the isometric thing just for visual apeal. The gameplay suffers extremely from that. But only out of interest: how did you find my game, because i'm so worried about not getting enough votings, as i can't find myself on the page with listed games

thedestoryer 2020-04-23 00:12

The music was great. I feel dizzy after playing that with an isometric camera and the movement felt slippery. And why is the conductor a wizard?

johannimations 2020-04-23 00:21

@thedestoryer XD I don't know. It just seemed fitting and he looks a bit like John Williams. Its the image that comes to my mind when thinking of conductors. Thanks for the feedback. Music was very important to me

fupi 2020-04-23 00:24

@fupi I found your game because you rated mine! That's one way to get voters. I think your own game is always filtered out of the play and rate page though, so I don't think you'll see it there either way.

trexxak 2020-04-23 00:42

I'm going down to South Park, gonna have myself a time :D

Very fun idea! I don't actually mind the perspective - in my eyes, an uneasy perspective can be used for difficulty.

What I did find a bit more frustrating than rewarding was the small hitbox of the balls, maybe. But that's more of a nitpick. The gravity pull of the stages on the other hand - very satisfying seeing tiny balls getting sucked away!

I love the animations of the concert and the whole style. Great job! :D

zebraatomica 2020-04-23 00:44

No need to overreact man XD This is only day 2 ^-^ Keep playing more games! You have the same amount of rates given and reviews, gotta keep giving rates but don't do it desperatly! There still 19 days, so playing 2/3 games a day at least would definatly get you that 20 ^-^

Now about your game, I liked the simplistic style and the music is Lovely! Since you'r an animator too, I missed a bounce on the violin, the drums could be dull, but since there's not to much on your game, everything could be jumping, even the blocks of the game because of the splendid music that you choose/made, also the player could have a little more bounce since he is moving, so it's more perceptable and his right arm could be moving up and down too against the bouce. Everything u did worked nicely together and i specially like the musicians, and that little tweak u did with the camera XD But that hitbox... god i was strugglin hahahah But later I just pushed all the balls to the backwall and walked to the side, pushing all balls together without problem and removing the difficulty, but the hitbox still made me mad hahahah I would make an "attack", moving the hands in an arc so the balls wouldn't perfectly go straight, but atleast I would be able to hit the balls and see them flying in random directions. Still, really liked your game, keep it up, would play again, BUT, the music would have to stay top notch ^-^

myalias 2020-04-23 00:47

Cute animations, good music!

johannimations 2020-04-23 01:34

@zebraatomica thanks for your detailed review and ideas. Warming to hear. And the blog post helped me stop worrying so much about ratings. Infact it made some people visit my game!

johannimations 2020-04-23 01:39

@trexxak thank you so much! The balls originally were twice the size. I changed it for the challange because other than the tricky physics my game hadn't much gameplay to offer

szkocka 2020-04-23 01:59

I had trouble with character basicly teleporting. Other than that, audio, visuals and concept seem to be a good idea for full game.

robotsandmuffins 2020-04-23 19:28

I felt it a little frustrating in the beginning. Then, I started to understand how to bounce the balls to the musiciants. And it is adicting! I found some issues related to oclussions. May be bigger balls will make it easier. Nevertheless, music is great and a very innovative concept! Like it.

johannimations 2020-04-23 20:23

@robotsandmuffins did you play another round? Because there is an issue with replaying, where not enough balls spawn so its impossible to win. Did you have this problem as well?

robotsandmuffins 2020-04-23 20:35

I didn't. I was just about to win, but the truth is that were very few balls left.

curleysam 2020-04-25 16:06

Once I got the hang of kicking the balls around it became quite fun to hunt them down! I think the camera made it a little hard to judge distance but I think it added to the graphics. Which were really cute! I liked the music very much also, well done composing it! Great entry! Well done

gamescodedogs 2020-04-25 16:46

Thanks for the game. Wish you the best of luck :)

zaiuspanda 2020-04-25 19:26

I would love to be able to see through walls to kick de marbles.

bulent-altinay 2020-04-25 19:46

Nice game! Liked the graphics and the sound/music. But it was difficult to play. Some more control for the balls could be better. Also you're using buttom third of the screen for gameplay. Can't see much of the balls and the player moving...(keeping the player at the center of the screen may be better). Well done

daniil-tcyvakin 2020-04-27 00:20

pretty nice idea, but camera is disgusting.... Also try another control method, like picking up orbs, not playing a football with them.. A cool game at all!

notan-lemon 2020-04-28 07:28

This is great. I love the orchestral music, and it is cool that if the motivation decreases the volume of the corresponding part goes down. Also the art style is colorful and cute! The control is difficult, but overall you did a good job. Well done!

johannimations 2020-04-28 11:32

@notan-lemon thank you so much for your feedback! This community is great.

chief141 2020-05-02 06:11

I really like this game.. specially its graphics.... Well done.

almax 2020-05-02 15:50

Good idea, but poorly executed. The camera obscured balls and kicking them about was really awkward. A pickup mechanic would have been preferable, or a dribble like in football games. I did enjoy the band's animations and music though.

holysparks 2020-05-11 18:12

A really cool take on the theme. The music is pretty cool to! The movement feels a bit floaty and the character slides off too much (slow desaceleracion?). Could also test around some camera control.

Thanks for the submission!
