Well that was quite a fun experience :) The music/sound effects area great, humor is there, and those blood particle effects are amazing! Didn't get to finish it though, those giant eyeballs are hard to kill. Also, I like the idea that you can earn things in exchange for not hearing music.
The idea of the game is just fantastic. You nailed the theme perfectly with it. The art style and music is top notch, as usual. Gameplay felt a little bit grindy, but that's not a big deal.
@annie-owl Yeah I feel like I didn't balance the grinding very well. The main design flaw is that the initial ear grind is slow and hard. Right now to me it feels like the game has a few grindy parts, even if you play flawlessly:
1: grind 6 ears and an eye, buy an extra arm and a gun. 2: now at double speed, grind 12 ears for a spare leg, an arm, and a bone gun. 3: Grind ears so if you get hit you're likely to lose an ear instead of an arm, kill some leg guys for legs, kill some eyes for eyes. 4: Go back and buy 2 more arms, one heart gun and one any gun you like. 5: Go west to kill the boss
But I feel like steps 1 and 2 are too slow and boring, and steps 4 and 5 are so overpowered there feels like no stakes, step 3 is the only one that feels tense. And if you die you feel like you lost a lot of progress because you need to grind for legs and arms again. You get your most recently purchased gun back and you can go pick up the others but it's still a bit of a slog.
I'm happy with my idea but I dunno.. I feel bad about this one, I don't think I made something particularly fun. Or good. lol.
Any chance of a macOS or Linux build?
Whoops! I seem to have gotten myself stuck...

Finished it! Kind of confusing at first but reading through your hints section it all made sense. I think you're already aware of the shortcomings, but I will admit it was definitely fun just "arm"ing myself with a big stack of guns for the final battle. XD
@alexrose Yeah, that's exactly what happened  I've got 3 guns, some extra parts and set out to hunt leg-monsters, but got too cocky and was swarmed and killed. But it was still fun to figure out the optimal strategy and as I have said erlier, music and graphics kinda make up for the initial grind.
Right to arm bears. Zeroth amendment. I love the humour. You totally nailed the theme. The graphics are awesome. It plays well and it's pretty hard. I like that you 'advertise' your whole series :) I have yet to finish your game, I'm looking forward to, a really good job!
@udo I don't have a linux partition or working mac atm so I prefer not to export to platforms I can't test, just in case it isn't what it's supposed to be. Sorry!
I really like the concept. It was a bit tricky at the start but once you have multiple weapons it's pretty fun. It's cool how the creatures can kill you by stealing your limbs, but I don't think it's fair that this is random, because if you get touched once it can cost you your arm or leg and that can be the end of you. I think it should start with the more useless parts, the eyes and ears.
Eventually I got really strong by farming the floating ones, and I think I missed a whole part on the right that I never explored. Perhaps the boss should've been on that side. But whatever, it's fine, I had fun.
I really like the characters, they're all very unique and funny and of course limb-related. Art and music are solid as always.
Well it looks like you made the main criticisms yourself, so no need to do that for me. Leaves only the compliments: great graphics, loads of nice puns, quite a lot of different characters and content. Losing limbs is a definite disadvantage, like it should be. Actually I didn't mind hjim losing his eyes, because he looked nicer that way, not so rude ;) And the musics are nice interpretations of classicals.
I like how the whole game world is designed around the trade of body parts, and how the characters just stick said parts to their bodies. The whole game has a Ren & Stimpy feel to it, very 90s!
I also like how removing body parts affects your gameplay, like how when I changed something for an eye and my field of vision got much smaller.
I'd like to see some initial dialogue to set the tone/story, though. The characters have personality, so that'd be a nice complement.
Good job!
This game is fun and insane!
The gameplay is fluid and nice! I enjoyed the game a lot, congratulations!
However, I do think the sound got too loud when I was farming for ears. Maybe there should be a cap on the volume. In the end I just muted the game to avoid the insane noise.
It would also be nice to have a pause feature, but that is not quite as important.
In the end I had multiple bazookas and could just shoot down to fly. I had a lot of eyes so I knew what was where, and I just explored everything. Only then I realised I had to go west for the boss fight (it was quite easy with multiple bazookas).
Anyway, well done! :D
Oh men, this game is awesoooome! I love it so much! I would never invent that concept, it's really original and suits to theme really well. I love the art style too, it's also very unique, I didn't see something like that in this LD. I could say a lot more, but I think I can stop here and say it's one of the best entry I've seen in this jam. Great job!
I love the concept and gameplay. Nice art. Very well done.
This is a very cool game indeed! I like the mechanic that you sell body parts for items and get body parts by killing enemies, its a very interesting mechanic. Relly miss a pause menu though. Also I found a bug where if I stand under the elevator and push the elevator down I get stuck inside of the ground. 1.jpg
Other than that nice work!
@mateusboga Yeah my housemate found this the day after the jam ended but - what's bugged is bugged. It's a shame when you get an easily fixable bug but the sanctity of the jam is what it is lol. I have a workaround for that - if you jump at the eyes they will kill you still and you will respawn with 2 legs, an arm and a gun. Sorry that happened to you! :(
This take on the theme was wholly innovative and hilarious to boot! Loved the body part swap mechanic and how the body parts affected your gameplay experience. The platforming is a little clunky but whatever's there was just so funny its great, 5 stars for innovation.
My only nitpick is that its not immediately clear what you're trading vs what you're getting on the shop menus, so I definitely made some wrong choices there.
Really awesome take on the theme and good implementation of the economy. The ears being useless gameplay wise but easy to collect made for a nice grinding loop. Although I found it pretty boring how in the beginning you're basically forced to grind for quite a while before you're able to advance, since the cost for being hit is so high and it takes so long to kill one enemy. But then once you start building up your weapons, it quickly becomes too trivial since you can kill enemies way faster which mean you gain way more parts which means getting hit is way less costly. By the time I went all the way to the pit on the right, I had so many parts I couldn't even keep track of them, and the only difficulty was fighting the physics of the elevator and getting pushed around by enemies spawning on top of you. That wasn't very fun. I think the game could've definitely benefited a lot from a tighter platforming and enemy spawning/AI system. But the core loop kept me playing for a long time though. The dialogue and presentation really sold the concept too.
theme app was really good. liked alot and fun to play
I adored this game! The art is incredibly good. The bright colors mixed in with the gore and interesting characters is top notch. I also like the creativity you took in trying to adhere to the theme. Very nice job, keep it up!
Favorite part: when I die and the Garbage man cometh, blood goes everywhere. And art style is fantastic!
This was a blast to play. Bit of a difficulty spike but not in a bad way. I loved the economy system and just how that played in to the strategy of the game. The art and music were fantastic too.
Thanks for hanging out on the stream, as well! It was great talking with you. Here's the [link to the steram](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/422835552?t=44m43s). Your game should start around [00:44:43].
Great Game, Absolutely loved the graphics and the parallax scrolling backdrop :).
@whynotyt I've just been informed that the version I had uploaded was defective, I tried to fix a game breaking bug but made it impossible to actually get into the east part of town. Did you encounter this issue?
If so - I've fixed it now, if so, know this is a pain, but could I ask you to replay? It's a pretty big game and the whole trading system is only encountered in the east, so it would really mess up the perception to not even get your first weapon etc.
@alexrose I'll give it a shot
It's hard to jump having more than ten legs!!! =))
@mowgli Hard to get that many in sync :P
Wow loved all the characters and really inventive take on the theme. Great artwork and humorous text. Mood was super grim like a dark comedy horror movie. Wasn't obvious how to fire the gun so i died pretty quickly. There was so much blood. Anyway nice work! -RS
@big-cow To fire, you click. I didn't have time (or think to) add ingame controls for a run and gun shooter, so I put it in the readme and description. Sorry. When you die you respawn with two legs, an arm and a gun, so you pretty much have exactly the same position as in the beginning but with 1 less eye.
