Hmmm, I tried it but I didn't understand it. Could you give me a little help? I placed my snipers on all the triggers and the doors are open but I can't enter the central room.

craftlord 2018-12-03 13:55

Sorry about that. It's a bug! Thanks for taking the time!

kiv 2018-12-03 15:36

Played twice, lost my soldiers in the maze and had to return to save them. Can't enter the central room too but the sound and also the visual style somehow combined in a nice atmospheric piece in my head. Keep going, it's a good entry!

william-derksen 2018-12-03 16:31

I like the concept! It could be really cool given some more work! Keep it up :)

backurio 2018-12-03 20:22

So many questions

- Why am I able to put a bomber on the button when it kills one of my snipers? - Why are the walls opening on the top, but I can't go through?

But I run out of time which is sad.

The music is creating a good atmosphere. Really like it.

The player controller could be better. Maybe look up some tutorials on Youtube. Looks like you used forces to control the player which makes it really squishy (right word?).

craftlord 2018-12-03 21:48

@backurio Thank you for your input.

I understand your questions. How the game works at the moment isn't really logical at all. 5 hours for closing time, I had the choice to not enter at all or to change things up so atleast I could finish 1 level. Originally there were turrets behind the opening walls. Unfortunately I had to remove them. And originally the bomber only 'sacrifices' himself.

While making this game, I had a lot of cool ideas. So I definately are going to work on this game in the near future. :-) And the first thing I'm going to do is make the player controller better!!

Thanks again for your great input in this game.

backurio 2018-12-03 22:08

@craftlord Yeah, I can easily understand that you had plenty of ideas. Was the same for me, but you have to sit down and break it down before you start and try to have some backup plan if you are not able to follow your time plan.

Anyway, good that you finished something in time. I hope you participate in the next Ludum Dare with a better time management

Nice Proto for only one person in just 35 hours ! A lot of things need to be polished but the concept is very nice !

mrnyarlathotep 2018-12-04 00:06

Yeah, the movement controller felt a little clunky - I seemed to be getting snagged on edges a lot.

I don't want to nit pick a compo entry too much though; I like that you have everything 'on one screen' for the player to see what to do; it might be worth adding the controls to the ingame help screen too so its immediately pick up and play.

If you were going to expand on this after the jam, it would be nice to give some context to who your followers are and why they are different, rather than just having one a terrible choice to use when given the option; like snipers being able to shoot through gaps in the walls to clear the way after they're placed, or something? Just so I get that they're 'snipers' from more than that I'm told they are?

Pretty good compo entry, especially for a first timer!

noa-calice 2018-12-04 10:47

That was an interesting little game :) ! The controls felt a big quirky at times, but the concept was nice, and the sound effects satisfying and juicy :) ! Keep it up !

craftlord 2018-12-04 12:20

@noa-calice Thank you.

I made a follow script. Wich doesn't work as I intented to. This morning I found your tutorial wich I'm going to implement: "2D FOLLOW AI WITH UNITY AND C# - EASY TUTORIAL". I love your chanel, there is good stuff on it!

kaleido 2018-12-04 17:37

I like the resilience to submit! It is very stressful to do this in 48 hours, and we all understand that here. So congrats on finishing a game! Good work on the audio.

arvejeitor 2018-12-04 18:13

Good work for a Compo!

evogengames 2018-12-04 19:41

Hi there,

Thanks for submitting! This jam is a good way to force yourself to deliver something, anything. And I'm glad you took this opportunity!

* I like that you added music, sometimes this gets skipped for first timers but just a simple tune like this does wonders! Great job * I can give a lot of feedback and puzzle ideas for this game, but the way you described I guess you have a good picture of what you wanted in your head. It was just the execution that needs a bit of exercise.

So my main advice: continue with your work, take what you learned in this jam and try to scope a little better next time!

danny-sun 2018-12-04 19:43

Nice design!

eric-smith 2018-12-04 21:46

Moving was kind of sluggish. Maybe it was the collider was too wide? Regardless, good game!

ale 2018-12-04 22:22

Congrats on completing your first LD!

As others have said, the controls could use some improvement. The turrets could potentially make the game more fun if you add them back in.

mza 2018-12-05 12:15

Congrats on your first entry. Was it all completely from scratch?

craftlord 2018-12-05 12:19

@mza Yep, that's the idea behind Compo :-) Started totally from scratch!

gwinnell 2018-12-06 16:30

Victory! :trophy: I definitely blew myself up with a bomber along the way. I think others have covered the feedback I would give. Great for a first entry!

jimbly 2018-12-06 23:22

Nice little game! I couldn't tell if there was any use to the bombers, I didn't use him on my first attempt, second attempt he just caused it to end very prematurely, if amusingly. Good music, helps set the mood.

easy82 2018-12-06 23:27

V for Victory! Nice game for your first Ludum Dare! :) You have finished it on time, your game mechanics work, you have a story, your game is a quick play, and easily accessible on the web. Keep all of these for next LD! Cheers ;)

xjcl 2018-12-06 23:50

This game would've benefited from you switching over from the Compo to the Jam and getting an extra day to properly finish it

pierre-f 2018-12-08 14:54

Cool concept need polishing but for a compo it's pretty nice :)

matank 2018-12-09 08:47

Cool idea for the game, and congrats on accomplishing this in only 35 hours! I liked the concept of controlling the leader but using the abilities of everyone in your party who are following you, and it looks like you have some interesting ideas for designing more levels and adding more challenges to the game, so I'd be really interested to see what you come up with if you spend more time on this.
