Pretty good! The sprite design has a nice 16-bit nostalgic feel to them, and everything pretty much worked as expected, making it feel quite smooth. It feels like you have quite a few cool systems weaved together for a jam game too, so that's rad :)

The fire's spread speed seems pretty good, feels menacing as well as being slow and methodical.

A few things though: 1. A bit of fire's "end state" feels impossible to know - the very tiny sprite nearing a fire's 0% is unsatisfying to tackle, and when you stop thinking you've killed but you haven't because it's like 1 pixel large, it's annoying and a problem. Rather give the 0% state a bit more visual substance, or give fires some kind of obvious visual cue (black smoke, for example) that makes it obvious you've put a fire out. 2. The fire takes a lot of water to kill, and it makes the game feel slower and less exciting than it could have been. Though the tension of the pace is present in that speed, it also makes killing fires less fun.

Fun is here, and feedback too !

I had some input problems on the HTML5 version which I want to mention first because there is still some time left in the jam to fix them. On level three, when there was a lot of fire around, the framerate dropped pretty noticeably, and my movement inputs started getting stuck. The character would move until I pressed and released the key again. I had a similar bug exporting my game to HTML5 and it was super frustrating, so hopefully it's not too hard to figure out!

With that out of the way: this is super fun! The music is extremely catchy, and I love the character. I like how the refill mechanic makes fires that are farther away from ponds more difficult to manage. I want to echo both of the points that @tuism made too. The moment when a fire dies should be a little more obvious and fires should take a bit less time to put out. Overall, I really the game. Good job!

A really addictive game. Nice music, graphics and gamemechanic. The fire spreads a little bit to fast for me, that is why I cant reach the third level. But let me practice :) But overall a great entry.

pixels-everywhere 2018-08-13 18:33

The game gets pretty tough, especially sense there is no way of knowing when a fire is all the way out. Sometimes I will think I got it all, walk away, then it start spreading again ;w; Really addicting tho

chaitae 2018-08-13 18:42

I really like 2.5 games. The graphics in this are really neat.

literallyjosh 2018-08-13 18:44

The game froze heading into the third level :(.

It was pretty fun though!

constantin 2018-08-13 18:46

Really enjoyed the sprite work, music and mood !

akaneiro 2018-08-13 19:26

Cool shooter! I enjoyed playing it. Graphics are also nice. Remind me of all JRPG games ;) I would add some sound effect for taking water and make some glow around items on the ground. There're hard to spot in the heat (see what i did there?:P) of battle.

jimdarkwind 2018-08-14 04:01

Congratulations, this is one of those games I did not want to stop playing. It's super addicting and I want more! I enjoyed the art style a lot and while it could use some balancing/polish (It was made in 48 hours after all), I think it could serve as a prototype for an excellent mobile game. Great work!

ashment 2018-08-14 20:26

Sprites didn't quite line up at times, but for the most part the game looks nice. I felt that the difficulty was a bit too high but that might just be me lol

pinoza 2018-08-14 20:27

It is very stressful, the theme is chosen perfectly, you feel like you "run out of space" really. Good job!

vphyre 2018-08-14 20:35

It's a good game. I liked the mechanics, and even I would like to play more variations of levels. But maybe I've found a bug, or something. I noticed that when you restart the game, and quickly extinguish the flame the game ends, becoming extremely easy. I do not know if I'm wrong, but apart from that, everything worked very well. Congratulations!

sohakes 2018-08-14 20:38

I liked it, but I found it too hard. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but the fire spread too fast and you extinguish them too slowly. Great graphics and music btw. I agree that it would be cool to know when the fire was extinguished too.

soyertek 2018-08-14 20:56

Really liked the graphics, the game was fun and in line with the theme but it could be improved, for example, at the start it is too easy to get an unsatisfying game over for killing all the fire, since it's small and only in one place, so you have to wait before the game to be interesting. A quick fix could be adding more starting fires.

hauo 2018-08-14 21:15

The style is what makes the game really shine, it looks awesome and personally I relly love the "billboard" stype 2d/3d graphics.

The sound is actually rather good, if unpolished. I cleared the levels rather fast, so I never got the feeling of losing space, but I get the idea, and feel like it fits the theme very well.

In the end a very classic feeling game! with solid, clear game-play and levels. Great work.

tcmxx 2018-08-15 18:50

The music and graphics are good. But a little to hard and the items are not very useful.

ryanjavanshir 2018-08-15 22:35

This game was addictive. I love the music and art style. The polish was impressive, good job!

echo-team 2018-08-15 23:01

Cute moose kinda flips out sometime, probably when the mouse cursor is above or below it XD Found things a bit hard to determine but all in all pretty cool.

rupert-nerddaygames 2018-08-16 02:33

I really like the game play. It was hard to tell if the fire was out. I liked the art style and the water animation looked good. Music was catchy. It would be a cool project to continue. Maybe add some comedic start to the fire like a squirrel's phone exploding. Or a local multiplayer mode with one player starting the fires and other putting them out. Winner is chosen at time up. Keep up the good work.

ravengar 2018-08-16 09:28

The graphics are pretty cool and the gameplay is effective. To iprove it Iwould say to add somme feedback and juicy effect (sounds would be great) when you stop a fire or even when you lose and the game over window pop

mouthlessgames 2018-08-16 18:41

The entry with the best game mechanic I've seen so far. 5 stars in Innovation! I really like the idea of the player struggling to prevent the shrinking of space around himself. I have to say that the graphic style was not my favorite - a bit to dark colours, although I found the 2d/3d mix quite cool. Why are you playing as a moose however?? XD

beebo-studios 2018-08-16 18:42

Great style, great gameplay! Unforgiving last level :D

dave-troyer 2018-08-16 18:44

Awesome game you've got here! Love the art and the audio is fitting.

I wish there was more indication that a fire has been put out since I a few came back after I thought I got them and ended my run.

I think if the forest surrounding you was bigger and the fires closed you in more, it'd fit the theme a little bit better in my eyes but still fits better than mine lol.

Great job and look forward to more of your work in the future!

3ncryp73d 2018-08-16 18:56

The idea is nice but the game is too short (<5min playing time). Some extra levels with maybe new mechanics would be great. I like your 3D-Pixelart and the sound is also good.

greyo 2018-08-16 21:25

Fun game!, I like the graphics and the idea!

fivenamefivesocks 2018-08-17 07:46

Loved the art and gameplay, fits the theme perfectly! Nice Work !

greenandsubmarine 2018-08-23 18:00

Cute art, yet surprisingly difficult. After a while, music got a little bit repetitive, but other than this, I've no complaints .)

kiri 2018-08-24 19:46

Loved the art style! Cute game, yet quite stressful LOL ! Keep up the good work
