Hey, nice game there.

What I like: - The mechanics were pretty fun to toy with. - I really like the aesthetic. It's not the best but it has a certain sense of harmony among the elements. - It was a pleasant surprise to see the 2nd island (is there a 3rd?)

What I don't: - I think the biggest issue of the game is the camera. It's too hard to see anything after some kill, and you always end up in the south corner of the island defending. - The death block thingies is cool aesthetically but not cool when visualizing exactly *where* the death zone is. One slight mistep and you're death T_T

Dude, I like this game because:

- The art / graphics - The concept/gameplay

Possible bugs found

- When the enemies get close enough, they burst into a big block w/out me shooting them. Is this normal?

Suggestions:

- A health system as oposed to a "one-hit-KO" system. - more UI and GUI - Experiment with first person camera

Overall, was really enjoyable to play.

BTW, What engine/framework did you use. I'm interested.

Hi @mza thanks for the feedback!

Enemies generate blocks no matter how they die, via self destruct or you shooting them. This was to ensure the level fills up with blocks quickly and gives you a reason to run away from them, it's effectively their "attack".

We agree with the one kit KO being frustrating, though more due to the fact that there is little to no feedback and can feel very unfair. We have an idea for a 3 strike health system with rag dolling that might work. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

What GUI do you feel was missing?

The game was made in UE4, and the source is [available on github](https://github.com/Almax27/LD42-Running-Out-Of-Space)

Hey, nice game. I couldn't get the controller to work in WebGL, but that wasn't a deal breaker. I liked the teleport thing. I just started playing without reading the controls first and it was a pleasant surprise to discover.

This game's visuals are very good and the movement and controls flow very well. I was a bit confused on the purpose of shooting the enemies if they are going to turn into a wall anyway. But, i kept going and found the game getting progressively more challenging. Especially when getting one hit KO when the massive block spawns. This makes using the teleport function very useful. Your instruction screen is also very basic and conveys all the controls to the player perfectly. Overall Great Job! :)

I liked the aesthetics, but it seemed overly difficult due to the instant kill from the blocks. As obstacles they would be ok, but just a bit too hard the way it is balanced currently. Great job overall!

I thought the music really fit the sci-fi vibe nicely and it had an interesting calm vibe. The teleport was interesting too but I didn't use it too much. It was also interesting accidentally fighting my way up at that mountain in the second area, only to find myself trapped and then jumping off it to escape xD. I wish the enemies did more to attack beyond just popping into cubes. It's basically the same thing as them killing themselves but robbing you of the points, almost like why bother killing them if they're just gonna kill themselves for you?

Ultimately I had fun with it though :) hs.png

Good job, Doesn't seem much point in killing other than for points, Other than that, good visuals and good audio. Gameplay kept me playing on its own though.

Sorry I've had nothing but technical issues trying to play your game, not sure what's going on but I think it might just be something on my end.

Respect to you 2 for making this. The gameplay is super-smooth I have to say. Visuals great and the idea of enemies becoming walls that shrink the space is quite nice. Adds actually some strategy-thinking to the gameplay. Well done! 5 star fun, overall and graphics from me!

@frittatenbank Thank you! We hit a lot of issues and weren't able to take the game as far as we would have liked, so we just tried to polish what we had. We didn't sleep much over the weekend :P

mouthlessgames 2018-08-16 21:16

@hi-im-greg That's how it rolls. :coffee:

Really liked this game. Nice clean graphics, simple controls (though it did take me a bit to work out how to use the teleport). Love the way the enemies spawn by digging themselves out of the ground. Well done!

Nice game. Kind of calming because of the graphics and music, but interesting gameplay. I'd have liked to see turning with the aiming, but that's just a nitpick.

gerox 2018-08-20 22:10

Nice game, The graphics look Nice and it Is fun.

Nice game!

However, right now it lacks a sense of closure. Some kind of objective on each island and a boss at a third island would be nice.

It also feel borderline punishing since there's no way for the player to clear the blocks. Some sort of block-destroying blast that needs to be recharged by killing enemies would probably keep the game going longer and also reward the player, giving some incentive to keep killing the enemies.
