Great game! I got 52 before the machine beat me :)
This was cool! I think a leveling system with different stopping criteria would be more rewarding for players. After I got to 50 I started wondering when the level would end. Great scaling and increasing difficulty, however.
Thanks for the game. The random words made me laugh a few times, and also got me killed ;)
Other games I played I wasn't trying to win, simply experience the game. With yours though, man I couldn't let the computer beat me at freaking typing! I take pride in my WPM! That being said...I'm not sharing my score. Sound was sharp to my ears, I muted it halfway through because of the treble. I think some tweaking on the sound and if possible - a small 15 second song loop would have been fantastic.
@john-darrington You can try to outrun MACHINE, but you will fail eventually. 🤖 Thanks for the feedback, I felt the same way about the sounds but couldn't figure out how to fix it in Bfxr. I ended up just turning down the volume on their playback so they aren't as harsh.
Love the game mechanic, I swear most of those words aren't even English!! The best I could get was 61-62
Judging by the rest of these comments, I suck at typing with a high score of 30 :/
Nice work! This game, while simple, was pretty fun! I actually really liked the sound design, and it sounded like an arcade game. The way you formatted the game, rather than just having a WPM calculator, was pretty interesting as well. I am a bit confused what 2 genres you were combining, so I haven't rated you on theme (yet). Other than that, though, you made a pretty great game. I got 53 points!
Shame the web version wasn't working, I'm on Linux using Chrome
@chaseplays Thanks for the feedback! Theme-wise, the game was meant to eventually become a sort of "fighting" game. For example, words would collide in mid air, so you'd have to work to block opponent's words while getting your own words across. Sadly I didn't have time to implement that, which I'd imagine is going to cost me in the theme scoring.
@bcvery1 Thanks for the feedback. I'm using Godot 3, and its HTML5 support leaves a lot to be desired. Sorry that it didn't work for you.
44 words, that's what I got :-)
A nice little typer, HTML works for in Firefox so no problem there.
Nice game! I'm just not so great at it :D! I'm not a great typer so the best I could do was 26!
Pretty slick, cleanly designed typer game. Spacially orienting the new words around the larger "HUMAN" word was a really smart, sneaky way to inhibit "reading ahead."
I really liked the game! The gamefeel was quite right and the words were fun! My only critique would be the oversimplicity of the visual style, even though I think you got the arcade game vibe right! Congrats! Solid entry.
Ooo this was really fun to play! I feel like I can use this to train key typing too.
this is cool! I'm a pretty bad typer so i usually don't play many typing games, but i liked the idea! it gets pretty tense at the end
Really great typing game with pretty great sound effects, allowing for satisfying game play.
Cool game to play. I saw you mention in a comment above about the words colliding with each other, and at first I thought that's what was going to happen when I played. Would have been cool, since it would have given it more a competition against the machine instead of just going until it's so fast you can't keep up.
Also, if you mistype a letter and the letter turns red, instinctively, I wanted to press backspace to correct it. Backspace however seemed to clear the whole word to type again instead of just the mistyped letter. I didn't realize at first that you could just press the correct letter at that point to fix the mistype.
Overall a solid entry. Good work.
@ManBeardGames Thanks for the feedback!
Yeah, about the backspace. I should have removed that behavior. It's a hold-over from when I was planning the fighting mechanics, in case you wanted to switch the word you were working on. Like you said though, naturally a player will want to backspace their errors, so there ends up being a conflict between what a player expects and what actually happens.
I'll keep that in mind for future games.
This was quite a fun, quick little game, I got a high score of 72. Essentially this feels like a more fun version of those typing games. Maybe you could even run with that idea and have it output your average WPM using the time you played and how many words you managed to hit.
I also quite liked the sound effects and the feedback that the player gets, and of course my favorite part is the increasing complexity of the words along with the increase in speed. I actually struggled with some of them! Overall, a very nice job.
That was fun and hectic! I like the mix of real and non words. There was one sound that hurt my ears but otherwise they worked well and it wasn't too bad when I turned it down a bit.
Game was really fun, I love typing challenges. :D The sound, however, was a bit annoying after a while. Nice little game idea, pretty challenging as the game goes!
Simple but fun game.
