wow this is really nice! super cute graphics and music, and really nice puzzles! There's a ton of potential with the logs, but it's already very well designed.

There's a weird thing where you won't eat after landing/stomping, but otherwise i couldn't find any bugs!

Good job!

IT'S SO CUTE!!!!! It's so ~refreshing~ to get some super nice visuals and tunes in these games, I love it! It has great design and lots of nice details, also the game play isn't bad at all. I loved playing this with my partner and solving puzzles in co-op together. Please check out my game! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/slovenly-shopper

I think you guys did a good job of creating a cohesive experience for this Ludum Dare. I played this alone but I can definitely imagine that it would be fun to play with a friend. Cute game! :lemon: :grapes:

Fantastic graphics! Took me a bit to get the hang of the special abilities, but then it was a lot of fun, even playing by myself.

Played this one with some friends some days ago, and we had ton of fun :D this game is a lot better if you play it with someone else. The aesthetic of the game is fantastic, graphics are superb and the music is really great too. First puzzles are a bit easy, though.

Really nice realisation, lovely graphics and cool gameplay, would love to see the game go further there is a real potential, even with that Qwerty setting :D

What a cute game!!! 😀

Woah! This game is really well polished for a game made in 72 hours! Graphics and Audio in particular, were crisp, clean and cute XD. The levels were great and pretty tricky at the later levels. The animations were great too.

Awesome work!

Wow! That's a super cute puzzle game!

Love the fruit sprites. The music loop is ~fantastic~. Clever puzzles and animations.

What a great package ( ̄ω ̄)

Very cute, fun game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dPr-ubTa3k

What the what! It's incredibly well made and super fun! Good coop game, cute mechanics, amazing graphics, great music, surprising amount of polish?! Wow guys it's real, real good! Congrats!!

Amazing game! I love this! Cool art, cool music and sound, cool puzzle mechanic... A bit buggy sometimes, if you try to do things too quickly, but great for a jam game! Congratulations, and good job!

Why RAR and not ZIP?

msiddeek 2017-05-16 20:31

I liked the art, the audio, and the mechanics. However, the game was a bit hard to get into since I didn't get the rules right away. I only realized that it was co-op after I was stuck for a bit. That's my fault for not reading your description xD Anyways, good job!

maikelortega 2017-05-19 20:40

@zorg I added a .zip version, for convenience. Hope you like it!

zorg 2017-05-20 07:49

@maikelortega Thank you very much! I was sitting in front of a PC (not mine) which did not have any program to deal with RAR. Windows can use ZIP by default, so it's more accessible (not only for me).

Cool game! I think it would be a lot of fun to play it in multiplayer mode. Could be round-based to prevent unwanted, funny(?) fails by player interaction or in realtime, but i guess a lot will go wrong in realtime (DON'T MOVE NOW!!!!). A rewind mechanic (both players need to hold a button?) would come in handy to prevent anger. I really like your game and it could easily be expanded to a small full game. Well done!

Minor (probably known) bugs: Fruits are not eaten if you jump on them, jelly is not shown on, but below logs in water. You don't jump twice in a row, even if the floor is covered in yellow jelly.

Double post, can't delete this. :/

Ok, didn't want to comment much until today, here goes a big post.

Thank you so much @zorg, @davidrico, @ellian and everyone else for your kind comments and feedback. We three were super proud of this entry, our first ludum dare game, and want to polish it a bit more and kind of finish it. The original design was a 4 player coop puzzle game, but had to reduce the scope a bit.

The idea came from a pretty simple seed: what if, in a tron-like game, the other players had to leave a trail to help you, instead of killing you. That's why we worked around a cute theme, no violence at all, and no real danger for any player: we wanted to convey the idea of helping each other, helping them reach their objectives and look towards a common goal.

Some issues like not jumping twice, or not eating fruit after jump, were decisions we had to make on the spot, cause enabling those created other problems with the quick-and-dirty game logic I was able to build. We might change those for consistency, they would made a lot more sense.

And a pretty cool thing is that the game is entirely non-deterministic, it actually runs on "turns" on a fixed step (on sync with the music, by the way, though is not really noticeable), and can be adapted relatively easy for multiplayer, as far as I know. There's a manager checking every entity movement before-hand (stumps and nomnoms), so it could work. I worked a few times with rpcs and the old Unity networking, so I MIGHT add a really simple multiplayer version.

Another cool thing is, I worked for the first time with the Tiled external editor for this game. I don't use much of its functionality, it's mostly a pretty face to edit a JSON file that I turn into levels. Once I finish the game I'll share something so everyone can create their own levels, it's actually super handy and pretty fun.

So, I really hope you enjoyed the game, follow me on twitter if you're interested in the next version. Thank you all!!
