Awesome !

Slow-paced, but hard. I personally find that simulation games these days are too easy. Your game fixes that, thanks!

gozz 2017-04-28 22:51

I started and said : well that's quite easy... but it's not ! You really need to think about you will place your items as you have to prevent them from being destroyed.

The graphics are simple but cool and the music is quite relaxing. The only thing is that there are sounds telling you a volcano is going to be release even if you have no building on it that is quite odd but globaly the sounds are great.

I really enjoyed playing this game. Good work guys !

I liked the character designs and dialogue. The gameplay was a little bit hard to understand, but ultimately a fun game. Good work!

It was a good game with lots of depth and strategy involved. The only quarrel I have is that gathering resources takes a really long time at the beginning of the game.

But other than that, great graphics and atmosphere, good audio, very well polished, Good job!

Also fits the theme very well

Fantastic music and sound effects. Great art. Fun gameplay and amazing how much content you fit into this. My biggest issue was the zoom in/zoom out thing and trying to right click on the resources. I felt like I spent too much time standing around waiting for production barrels to float by and missing them when I click on them. I also mostly just want to stay zoomed in because that's how the game looks the best and feels like you know most about what's going on. The interface could use a little more design and UX, but definitely good within the confines of a gamejam. It feels like you have a really good game here, would love to see more polish.

For starters, It's really a hard game to get into it. There are too many things going on and the tutorial is too short and doesn't explain every mechanisms (also it would be nice if the buildings names in the tuto correspond those of the interface). I don't know how to win, and if I can ever beat the game actually (I guess we have to resist a certain amount of days?).

With that said, this game does have a lot in it: resources management, buildings, disasters etc.. all that on a tiny planet and in real time. It's amazing you managed to make all this for a game jam. It really just lacks some polish here and there and it could have some potential for a realease imo. On the UI to make it clearer for example, or maybe add some warnings when a disaster is coming. Also it's hard to know which ground affects each building, maybe I missed an explanation somewhere but it's not in the UI. The sounds are good too but they are a bit confusing, I don't know what cause them sometimes (hence the visual warnings).

Anyway.. it's a really ambitious project and the level of polish is already fantastic for a jam. I didn't talk about the musics yet but they are pretty good. Adding layers little by little is a neat idea, and they make a really nice atmosphere. I prefer one of the 2 though, the more relaxing one (it fits better these kind of games). Good job everyone! Hope you'll continue this.

This game would be easier to get in to if it introduced it's different mechanics more gradually. I had barely figured out what chain of buildings was required to build the thing that makes alien bugs go alien go away before meteors started falling all over the places breaking al my stuff. And I was constantly out of resources. With a reduced difficultly ramp up (or a difficulty setting) this could be very good resource manager.

That said I really like the vecorised artstyle. And the little squid monster is very cute.

This is a really cool game. The visuals are really nice and the music and sound effects are overall well done. The gameplay's pretty interesting as well with a neat balance of managing different resources as well as trying to protect your building from various threats. I unfortunately never managed to complete the game because the build menu stopped working properly after I tabbed out for a bit.

A couple issues: * The tutorial didn't quite work for me. When it told me to make something to get rid of the alien I made the building that repels aliens instead of the item that removes an alien. This meant the tutorial didn't progress and I was forced to figure everything out by myself. Maybe the tutorial should only give one option at a time. * It seems to require an excessive amount of energy to power everything. It felt like almost half the things I built were power generators.

Overall though, great work.

Awesome!! Best game played yet on this ld!! The concept is simple and yet great, the graphics are gorgeous and the gameplay.. oh man, I was hooked for around 2 hours! The buildings are very clever and it took me a while to understand all the mechanics.

Only thing I didn't love was the sound the aliens make, (It's quite annoying, and in the end it's more efficient to leave the alien on the planet than to shoo him away). In any case! That's only minor things, the game is superfantastic!

Keep up your awesome work people!

mcjammydodger 2017-05-13 13:27

I really enjoyed playing this game! It was hard to manage everything at once but that's what made it fun.

The only issue I have is that I had periods of time where I was waiting ages for a certain resource to land before I could build anything else so I couldn't really do anything at these times.

Overall it is a great game with decent graphics and audio. Good job!

wati888 2017-05-13 19:16

My, my, my. What a LD Game! It's actually amazing! Very well made, and obviously thought out!

kaisean-games 2017-05-14 11:36

This one is cool. I find it a little bit hard, but still a good game. I am too bad at firing my octopus. It always misses the barrel.

UI icons are cool, but it's a little bit unintuitive. It would be great if next to the cost it says which of the resources I lack to build a building.

Otherwise, a very nice entry.

Interesting game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDPVuoHG3u8

tuomo 2017-05-15 17:00

Great concept and very well done execution! Just couple of minor flaws: In start you are told what to do, so I assumed that I am prompted when I have collected enough resources. Took me while to realize that I had click on buttons to open new options. UI graphics are bit messy, they could use little bit simplifying and cleaning. And maybe font size could bit bigger. Overall an interesting and quite challenging game!

inigo 2017-05-15 17:46

Nice game. It works well. My only problem is that when starting I don't know exactly what to do and it's not so easy to guess. Any way, nice entry

acuity 2017-05-16 06:23

This is pretty cool! But I got stuck at the point where the tutorial told me to remove an alien, I couldn't figure out which building to build, so I built ones that had alien in the name, but the tutorial got stuck from there. I also ran out of trees because I never built a forest cutter...

Very neat concept though, I think I would enjoy playing it more if it were easier to tell what resources I had and what the resource cost for everything is! The font was a little too small and hard to read.

clegamecoop 2017-05-16 17:16

Loved it! Only problem I had was how small the resource meters and menus were. It was very difficult to read so I was constantly guessing at both the requirements to build and the resources I had available. Great job, though!

aaranos 2017-05-16 17:27

I found that the game was fairly confusing with no tutorial. I liked the graphics and it seems like there is a lot to the game, but it needs explanation.

The web build seemed to run sluggish as well.

steing 2017-05-16 17:47

@aaranos There is a tutorial actually, and i'm a bit worry about how you missed it, maybe you've pressed the "skip" button ? The tutorial is the octopus-pet explaining you everything. There are problems with the aliencide definition, though, we're aware of that :)

yetikatt 2017-05-17 18:25

Absolutely fantastic game, loved the graphics and found it very fun. If I was to suggesting anything to improve the game, I'd say making the aliens hunt resources that have landed on your planet might make them more of a nuisance as you can kinda just leave them at the moment. Astoundingly good job for a game jam. Well done and I hope this entry does really well, it deserves it!
