Cool! Fun to play, gets pretty challenging pretty quickly. I really like the About Screen :)
Awesome style, reminded my of Monkey island :).
It's a bit too difficult though I think, the target does'nt move let and right fast enough, so if someone passes you it's almost impossible to get back in time to kill them.
Great job though, audio track is pretty sweet too.
aaronjbaptiste: Ah, totally forgot to mention it anywhere: you can use SHIFT to move the target a bit faster! :)
awesome artstyle! :)
I can't play the game :(. I see the icon in the taskbar, but when I click it it marks as active but he window doesn't apperar (I'm using Windows 8)
Great ha ha ha... you and me have had any kind of telepathic connection this weekend, don´t you think so?
Many things I like about this one, but mainly 3 (the more moodish ones!)
- THE GUITAR SOLO!!
- The little riff when you close the Window
- THE GUITAR SOLO!!!!
Great work!
Great Pixel Art work ! Sound is good too. And this solo !!
Haha, the solo attack is really awarding. Nice game :) And yeah, our takes on the theme are eerily similar! Also, the guitar guy has a Guybrush Threepwood look to him.
He's a mighty rockman after all :)
Nice game. I really like the art and the soundtrack, it's fantastic. The solo was also a pleasant surprise and quite satisfying.
Excellently polished an good fun, got a bit too hard for me pretty quickly, i dunno if thats cuz I suck, or because it needs balancing
For reference, on average I score around 10-15k points, while on best runs I did 22-24k so far. I made it challenging intentionally, to prevent boring and repetitive gameplay and to force player to use solo ability kinda tactically ;)
The art style was really nice, I liked the cow :) It's definitely an unconventional weapon, but the game seemed a little hard but it's a great game!

like the art style!good jobs!
I like the how audio complements the concept. Graphics are also cool. It starts way too challenging for my taste though.
This was a fun game to play. I liked the integration of music into the game, and how each different place you could shoot lightning at played a different note on the guitar. My high score was 6975. I liked the graphics, the cow in the background and the About Screen was hilarious as well :)
One minor issue is that on the main menu it was hard to see which option was selected, the yellow text marking an option as selected looked extremely similar to the white text of every other option unless you were looking carefully.
haha Very nice job! I didn't read the post instructions, so the solo was a very nice surprise!
Pretty fun, but the precision that you need can be unbearable. There were a lot of times that it looked like it should have hit but didn't.
Didnt like the controls very much. maybe make it faster, or experiment with keyboard controls. maybe have different keys target different areas.
Good take on the theme! Great job! :)
nice music and idea :D
Cool game, and nice weapon! But know i have an earwig! :D
Good game wished if it doesn't get so hard fast, maybe diffrent type of monsters?
Well done, that's a really nice game! I love the idea of the solo that kills all of those guys at once.
Nice feel to the game, but I agree with other comments that the difficulty ramps up pretty quickly.
Keep up the good work! :D
this was a very cool game and i cannot wait to play it some more - awesome job
5576 points - it's really hard because the target moves pretty slow (if you have to follow a guy, he nearly outruns you).
I like the lightning effect and the sound :)
Use the SHIFT key, it moves faster then! Then add some practice and you can make it. I've just got 66225 points! :D
Some sort of simplistic beatmatching would've gone well with this game. It's kind of one of those games where there's an audiovisual theme, but it's not really used to its full potential - the gameplay would be basically the same if you were zapping fishes in water or whatever. The solo is a nice touch though.
The challenge ramps up faster than your cursor can react to that. I'm not a fan of the discrete hops it does, especially when Shifting, just feels clunky to control. It's a letdown that the most crucial way of interacting has an unpolished air to it, when the rest of the experience has attention to detail.
Also the whole "Shift to speed up" thing is problematic design. Even now you're getting comments about people missing that part, cause it's kind of a necessity to move fast enough, not something that needs to be behind an extra key. Slowing down would be worth that instead, but then you'd probably notice there's no need for that - just have a "one size fits all" speed, or boost the cursor as a reward for some gameplay achievement.
Really cool game with an awesome nostalgic retro style and a sense of humor. Love the solo mechanic!
Great work on the audio(was I imagining it, or did the chords you play with the guitar sync up with the current chord of the song?), and the graphics: even the enemies have varied walk animations so it keeps it fresh. Gameplay was simple yet satisfying and rewarding fun, especially busting out a solo. This is what Guitar Hero should have thought about when they implemented multiplayer battle. You should keep developing and refining this already excellent game.
"(was I imagining it, or did the chords you play with the guitar sync up with the current chord of the song?)"
You weren't, they do :)
I think the core mechanic works great, and the whole thing feels like there's a sense of rhythm to it. Some classic juice-related polish would be nice to give some of the actions more impact. There's a lot to be improved, but I think the fundamental parts of the game is very solid.
I enjoyed this entry! It's a cool take on mixing guitar hero with an action title. Nice music and art as well. Good job!
My Highscore is 5175 :)
I like the funny concept and the solo and the rush :)
and I liked the About page :D
and the exit sound was a nice touch :)
I just feel that the hit radius needs to increase a little bit, a very small delay could lead to me missing the target and keep following him all the way to the left and wasting a lot of time :D
Oh and thanks for testing the Linux build for our game ;-)
Great work, this was a lot of fun! I held down shift the entire time -- maybe just have that faster speed be the standard movement speed. The tension of missing a shot and having to rush to the left in order to attack again was pretty great.
very simple addicting game. im still trying to go up in score lol.
Good challenge! Cool art! Fun concept :-)
Love the concept but I gotta practice more! D: Made a video of it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SfLRjqrtNGA :)
Actual gameplay wasn't that fun, it started out pretty easy and then I got overwhelmed once enemies started spawning faster than the shot cooldown allowed.
Didn't enjoy the control scheme, would have preferred something where you could just steer the cursor around instead of having a step based system where one key press is a single step with shift making it like 3 or something.
Good graphics, good audio, good humor, I dunno why a cow was there.
Very cool!! Nearly the same game idea!
Well done!
I must admit I wasn't actually able to play your game, because I'm on Mac OS X. I tried to build it from source, but that didn't work out. I watched this video instead and based my rating on that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8q6v8MUT2w
Your game really feels like a perfect compo entry. It has a lot of character, because you made everything yourself, even including the guitar stuff. What your game may lack in gameplay, it makes up for in the original interpretation of the theme. Overall, I like it a lot :)
What I forgot to write down was that I think the actual enemies could have been drawn a bit better. A lot of effort was put into drawing & animating the main character, but your eyes aren't actually focused on him a lot. Instead, you're looking at the enemies all the time and they aren't looking so rad.
You clearly have some talent for drawing (I also like the clouds! very DoTT-like :)), I wish the art style was more consistent throughout the game.
