Gutter

Very well done. Easy though.

Wow! This kicks some serious butt!

Not only is it fast and stable (even on Win2K!), it also has gameplay which blends two classic game concepts into one that is both original, highly enjoyable and in perfect line with the theme.

The few pixels are used skilfully, although I miss an explosion sprite, even a crappy one.

The (relatively) low cosmetic vote is because that although it looks nice (already covered in the graphics vote), the cosmetics don't affect gameplay at all. But flying sheep are always nice, so it's a solid 3.

Completeness - not much to say, really. Aside from the balance issue (which imho deserves a voting category of itself), I only found three minor bugs (single-fire, building too high and bombing away half turrets).

All in all, very nice work! By far the most impressive yet.

Great game :)

Wicked fun!!! Even though it's low-res, the graphics are awesome, and the baby wolves are very cute. My only gripe would be that the game doesn't really go anywhere, and it's too easy. Also, on my first building session I didn't get a single turret, and my wolves got pretty screwed... I didn't really know whether I did something wrong or the turrets were missing. :P

SodoMaxx

Very consistent style and this little pixelish wolves are so sweet.
The game is not much of a challenge though. Just stacking some blocks on the wolves head is too easy, you can even cover the canons under thick layers and they can shoot nevertheless. Why not allow building only at the borders to be forced to shoot down every sheep instaed of just digging in?

shang

Pretty fun game and a good idea. Too easy to wall in though and the waves of sheep don't seem to get much harder with time. I wish there was a bit more strategy involved in placing the blocks. Now you can just pile them on top of your cannons and wolves as fast as you can.

LordCovenant

Very good... My only problem with it is that I don't know what to do to get cannons... They appeared sometimes, but I couldn't quite figure out why!

Jamul

Really good for the theme! It's also a really good concept overall, but it's very unfinished. Took me about 15 rounds of sitting back and watching to get my wolves killed, once I had played a few rounds of defending, so it could stand to have a little bit of difficulty...

Cute graphics, especially the wolves. It has the same flickering problem my allegro game does. When will they release an improved version of allegro!?!?

Slate

The combination of two games is neat. I found some interesting emergant stratagies as well.

The game balance is a little off. Sometimes you get a turret right of the bat, and sometimes it takes 3 turns until you get one and then you get three. Also I want points for killing sheep. :D

richard

Couldn't quit!?!
Collision detection was a bit off (sheep flying straight through chunks of blocks), as was the turret-pointing code (try aiming below a turret).
Otherwise, an ok game - and it's not like I can knock people's collision detection routines, really ;)

mfassett

It's a bit too easy and uneven, but a really cool concept. Thought the turrets shouldn't be able to shoot through the bricks.

mrfun

Innovative mix of several types of games - graphics style is beautiful. I hate having to quit out because I couldn't lose though! ;)

Jolle

Now, this is a good game, but there are some small things that it lack of: challange and sounds. Otherwise it is good. The concept of defending cute little wolves against sheep is great ;) I also love the (i assume) pixled graphics.

Thenend

The concept is cool and fits perfectly the theme. It would be more fun with more difficulty (I got 50.000 and difficulty was not increased) Also, turrets must not appear randomly so you can have at least one before the first wave of sheeps. Also the wolf sprite is cute. Great concept and good execution. Well done.

Bug: if you get to the top of the screen where the figures appear, you only have to push the down button and get as many points as you want.

Impossible

Very nice.

jovoc

Fantastic! And the graphics are really cute. This has a really polished feel to it, and such a great idea. It does seem to be better to build big sprawling thing instead of tight structures like tetris. I wonder if the gameplay would work if there wasnt rounds, if it was just constant bricks and sheep, and the turrets kind of auto-aimed.

Anyways, absolutely great game.

nonnus29

This game got pretty boring pretty fast. Cute little wolfs though.

ShredWheat

simply amazing. fun and everything. is there some way to get turrets every time? owell, it's good fun

segludian

Pretty cool game.

Breakdown:

Overall - 3 - Pretty fun, I weigh heavily on fun
Gamplay Innovation - 3 - About average for the competition
Fun - 3 - It is pretty fun, but can get old if you are too well fortified
Graphics - 4 - The sprites are cute and well done
Sound - N/A
Technical - 3 - Nothing earthshattering, but it seems to work well enough
Gameplay Theme - 5 - Construction is there and so is destruction.
Cosmetic Theme - 4 - You have sheep and they aren't wallpaper
Completeness - 4 - Extra point for a title screen and general polish.

MattB

Interesting idea, like Fortress but without the identical opponent. A bit too easy to be fun (though the post compo version is nice), but great graphics and the reversal of the sheep and the wolves is cool.

yq713

Very fun. My major complaint is that the game never seemed to get any harder and that you could shoot through walls.
