Very cool game... No construction though, but the sheep is hiilarious! Great graphics.

mikedoty

The only thing I can complain about is the awkwardness of the jumping. The animation is very impressive, pretty smooth. Hence the 5 in Graphics.

Gameplay & fun were related for me, and I gave it a 3 because I had a bit of a hard time controlling it. My speakers aren't setup so I can't hear sound. Don't know if there is any, so I gave it average. Maybe should've chosen N/a, I don't know.

The technical got a 4 for the impressive animation. I gave the gameplay an unsure 3. There wasn't much construction from what I saw. The cosmetic theme got a 5 because the main character is a sheep. I think that fits the goal of the cosmetic theme right-on. Completeness got a 5 also because, well, it seemed pretty completely, especially for a 48 hour game.

It ran well on my new computer, btw.

Additional Notes:

I increased fun and technical by one point because of the sheer ingenuity of the animation editor. It's pretty easy to use and gives the game ridiculous replay value. Technically very impressive. After getting my speakers, I raised sound to a 4 because the sounds it did use were good. It actually should have been n/a before since I didn't have speakers.

JM

For the record; there are construction WORKERS...

Impossible

Very polished, cool gameplay, the jumping isn't so bad once you get the hang of it. Nice work.

Gutter

My poor spacebar...

Nice graphics! Nice gameplay, except that I seemed to get stuck on walls sometimes. Couldn't figure how to get to part of the second level too, but that might just be me being dumb :)

Can't get hurt by stuff either, as far as I can tell :(

No construction in the gameplay :(

Sounds were pretty cool too :)

JM: And yes, there might be construction workers, but they're merely cosmetic. No actual construction gameplay, which was the point.

elak

Platform is about as un-inventive as you can get, hence the low gameplay score. +1 for the interesting (though frustrating at first) controls.

Very nice graphics and animation, and sounds are solid as well, given the circumstances. And it's even got a backstory! All in all, I'm impressed.

valles

A very complete game, good sheep anims.

Smirk

Very good, could use music, and i think that the wall jump condition should be a little less sensitive (maybe you must press the jump key upon contact with the wall.) Mario games have taught me to hold the jump button all the way up in a jump, which was a bad thing in this game. So maybe it's just me.

Racer X

This was really a fun game! Unfortunately, it doesn't have a lot of construction :^). I had a hard time with controlling my jumps and moves, so I gave gameplay a 3. I realize how hard it must have been to implement this, so I gave a 5 for technical. Really great animation! Funny sounds, too.

Zaphos

This is an AWESOME execution ... major polish, good art, has sounds (fitting, but no music and not much really interesting stuff there) ... even if this weren't a 48 hour production I'd like it.
Doesn't use construction as a gameplay theme -- only a cosmetic! -- and the concept is not great especially considering that. But it's still very fun to play with, and in keeping with the polish has a rather large play-value considering the dev-time (I probably spent more time messing with this game than any of the one's of seen so far).
Experienced no bugs during playtime, which doesn't mean there weren't any but is still a good indication that the technical side of this was also well attended. The game performs no genius technical feats, but is not childs-play in that respect either, and definitely gets my respect for what it does.

mfassett

This was fun. Gave a 3 on the gameplay theme instead of a 2 because, despite the lack of construction, there sure is alot of destruction which was half the theme. Much amusement with the combos.
Could've used a song or two in the background and some background graphics in the results screens.

nonnus29

Awesome game definitly one of the best here (only part way thru list!) Good collision detection, fake iso view, combos, good gameplay, enemy movement - all the stuff I struggled with in my game done right! Interesting sounds. Construction?

LordCovenant

The controls were pretty awkward, at least for me... I couldn't do almost any of the combos... And it doesn't have any construction... The only thing that detracts from the game is the controls, at least for me...
But, as usual, it's one of the most polished games here! :) Nic work!

Jolle

Well... I probably shouldn't say things like this, 'cos it makes other ppl jealous and stuff, but you are going to win big, at least of the games I've tried so far. This game rules. The only bad thing is that my fingers now hurts. Quite a lot actually (watch out, I might sue you ;).
The animations of the sheep are great! Most stuff in this game are. The only bad about gfx would be the lack of variation in the look of levels (the tiles, that is, not the layout of the levels), but it doesn't really hurt that much. And those things behind the tiles that make them look a bit depth-iss aren't very beutiful :/.
The last level is btw very possible. And about the hidden moves, i think i found out how to do one, and it is quite handy, especially to make big points (like >212000 on level one ;). One bad thing about it was that it made some other moves quite useless. I think I manage to achieve the other one to, but i don't know how. But i will find out, o yes ;)
Yeah, and weak thingy about construction, so you will not get a five for all of the categories. Only a four in theme.
You know what? Well, i guess you do. This game would be awesome with a fastpaced ut-style music. Hey, wait, i can just start winamp! ;)
And, I really should vote N/A for gfx, 'cos, as you wrote, your wife wrote the "struct"-word, but I gonna vote a 5 there anyway ;)
Lets see... I think that there was some more stuff I was going to say, but I can't really remember. Btw, thanks again for compiling The Destruction of The Sheep for win2000. And yes, I would vote like this anyway.
And another bad thing. You make us other look bad! And that's bad. At least for us.
Now I also remembered what disturbed me most in the whole game. The black stripe behind the text (the little allegro standard text, that is).

mrfun

WOW!!! Coming up with a game that has this many attacks and combos in 48 hours is definitely some kind of record.

I didn't really figure out all the moves, I mostly used dash and wall jump (and button mashing) - this kind of game needs moves introduced by an old man character one at a time so the player gets trained.

I was going to give completeness a 4 because you couldn't get hurt by enemies but then I saw the highscore saving so I'll swing the five.

Cool movement and combo system!

Thenend

Your graphics are the best I've seen so far (voted more than 15 entries) due to the sheep sprite (many animations) so 5 for you. The game was very fun to play, the shinobi like controls are great but dont like the timer based games, it get me stressed when time is flying away and you have to finish something (ups, like in this contest 8-|) It must be difficult to implement all that jumping stuff so 4 in technical. There are no construction and destruction is a little relative. But thats a great game and very complete.

illume

Very good, and fun game! Very much liked it. Showed it to a number of people at work who also liked it.

Had trouble getting up the wall in level two.

Saw your other pack of levels, but I got bored before I finished them all... But then I played with the other characters which was fun.

Bastian von Halem

One of the best games indeed! But i dont see much of the gameplay theme and the controls are very tricky.

postalrat

a 5 on the sheep animation alone!

shang

Probably the most polished and finished game in the whole competition, but it does not have all that much to do with the theme. The animation system is very cool. Air dashes, double jumps etc. make it very fun, even though I don't normally enjoy platformers all that much.

jovoc

The combos were cool after I got the hang of it. And the animation system is awesome. I wish there was more variety in the maps and there was more stuff on the maps. The characters were cool, but the level graphics were pretty dull. Of course, the old-school intro sequence was great. It seemed like you used construction/destruction more as a cosmetic theme than a gameplay theme. I will definiately check out the later versions of this, great work.

MattB

Very nice. Good feel to the controls and easy enough to pick up right away but, uh, 'hard to master'. No construction or destruction, really. Also, I know for a fact that allegro's built text output functions can use transparent backgrounds, so, heh, why the black boxes?

yq713

I like how you bent the rules to fit your game. The only thing that stood out was the font. If you changed it would be perfect.
