LD4 — Infection

The Destruction of the Viruses by Jolle

I like how this game was basically a FPS with an overhead view, it made it easy to control and fun to play. Unfortunately, what made it not fun was the speed bug-- the whole thing seemed to run terribly slow. Nice graphics, though, and I like the splot sound when a virus dies.

Gooploid by Gnatinator

The robot voice frightened me. Unless I missed the point, when the game started... nothing happened. I sat there waiting for something to shoot, and nothing came. At least there was the graphic of the sick moon for me to giggle at, I did like that. Too bad there weren't more graphics. I like graphics! Eventually some very slow blobs came dripping down from the screen, which I shot, and then I sat there waiting for some more very slow blobs... is my computer too slow for this game?

Zombie Epidemic by Ufo Z

The control system felt a little weird, but that could've just been me. I liked the background music. Simple but functional 3D graphics.

Peanut Butter: The Simulator by Zaphos

Haha! Too bad I couldn't figure out what to do.

Shrooms! by zoggles

Simple graphics, but defnitely effective. It reminded me of a retro 8 or 16 bit console. The whole thing looked quite polished, and I liked how there was a screen to explain what to do; I'm sort of lazy about readmes. Innovative game concept, but it kind of falls flat in execution-- the gopher kept stealing my last mushroom, I couldn't even pass Level 1, and I didn't feel like retrying to try a different strategy considering how long I had to wait for the rest of them to grow. The relation to the theme was tangential, unless I missed something.

Infectoban by flgr

An innovative crossing of two tried and tested games makes for an original entry. I liked the cartoonishly gory graphics of the inside of the body, and of course the evil viruses grinning at me. What killed this game for me was the very odd way the block-pushing worked-- rather than snapping to a grid, the blocks seemed to be freely moved about, making for some situations where they look like they should fit somewhere but don't-- and occasionally (and randomly) snap to the grid of their own accord. It made the game very frustrating. I would've played the game a lot longer were it not for this.

Cuzco's Goat Bloat Game by philhassey

This game graphics looked great. The music was annoying but it was better than not having any. It was way too frustrating trying to herd the goats around, they never cooperated. But I loved watching them explode, so it's ok that they didn't cooperate! Nice and polished.

Nanodominance by rtf

A clever idea, but it confused me horribly. :(

Microbattle by dumple

This game was simple, but quite fun, and pretty innovative in terms of all of the different things there were to do in every room. The control scheme took some getting used to, but I really started to dig it after I got used to it. I found myself wishing for more rooms, though! The graphics reminded me of an 80s arcade game, which isn't a bad thing, though they were perhaps a touch too simple. But hey, 48 hours, right? A few minor polish issues came to mind, too, like the fact that the screen was too big for my desktop, and I couldn't find a way to fix this other than resizing my desktop.

Tekram-S (v1.1) by Sol_HSA

Very original. Too original, in fact, because it confused me, quite badly. Even on "Childish," it seemed like too much, and yet, too little-- is there any puzzle element here other than clicking stuff really fast? At least the theme is quite evident. The graphics are quite simple, but any further graphical complexity would make an already confusing game even more so, I'm sure.
