LD2 — Construction/Destruction

Hitsuji: Shears Of Fury by Jamul

The only thing I can complain about is the awkwardness of the jumping. The animation is very impressive, pretty smooth. Hence the 5 in Graphics.

Gameplay & fun were related for me, and I gave it a 3 because I had a bit of a hard time controlling it. My speakers aren't setup so I can't hear sound. Don't know if there is any, so I gave it average. Maybe should've chosen N/a, I don't know.

The technical got a 4 for the impressive animation. I gave the gameplay an unsure 3. There wasn't much construction from what I saw. The cosmetic theme got a 5 because the main character is a sheep. I think that fits the goal of the cosmetic theme right-on. Completeness got a 5 also because, well, it seemed pretty completely, especially for a 48 hour game.

It ran well on my new computer, btw.

-----------------------

Additional Notes:

I increased fun and technical by one point because of the sheer ingenuity of the animation editor. It's pretty easy to use and gives the game ridiculous replay value. Technically very impressive. After getting my speakers, I raised sound to a 4 because the sounds it did use were good. It actually should have been n/a before since I didn't have speakers.

Whew.. still, buggy by Ufo Z

I like this game a lot, though it is a little repetitive. All 48hr games are bound to be, though.

This game really truly fits the construction theme. Collect metal and build (construct) turrets. This system is VERY cool, and the reward (getting to use the turret! :) is, well, rewarding. I gave grahpics a 4 because I liked the intro screen art (evil sheep on the left in particular) and the levels were surely not tile-based. The collision detection was pretty good too, considering the abstract nature of the objects. Really good, actually.

I gave the cosmetic theme a 5 because it fit it well. I gave completeness a 3. There only seems to be one level; perhaps I am wrong, but I don't know. It does get a little repetitive, like I said, but not bad at all. If there was a little more variety and some more levels, this game could be taken to a whole new level.

Run Away Sheep by matricks

This is a style of game that I am fairly fond of, and it does its thing quite well. Hence and overall 4. Of course, since it fits a well-defined style and is not really innovative, I give it a 3 there. The spotlight was innovative. However, it seemed more of a tool of frustration than anything else.

The graphics may have been few, but there are pretty good and I realize (as a non-artist) that graphics are hard. Definitely worth a 4, with the light and all. Sound is maybe even harder than graphics (especially music), so I have to give a 5 there.

Technical got a 3 because it's not terribly technically impressive, but not bad. The collision detection is a little bit iffy, but generally doesn't seem to affect gameplay. Theme got a 2 because there's really neither construction or destruction. Cosmetic, however, got a 5, since a sheep is the main character.

The game is pretty complete. It lacks a menu, and you can't start at whatever level you quit at (a password system would have been nice). A good game overall, though.

Onslaught! Sounds intriguing, no? by bugboy

This is a pretty good game!

For starters, I gave gameplay a 3. I think that is just a matter of personal preference; this game is more like a turn based game, whereas I like realtime. However, it is still good. I similarly gave fun a 3. It's not bad.

Graphics I gave a 3 because I didn't drool over them, but the geometry (??) seemed good. I gave technical a four because those graphics were all right, and the AI seemed to be at least somewhat intelligent. It was hard to tell, though, with so much going on.

This game perfectly fit the theme. Construct a large defense, and then destruct your onslaughters. However, it did not involve sheep in any way, so I had to vote 1 in that category. I hope I didn't miss a sheep somewhere.

I gave the game a 4 in completeness because of all of the variety between weapons and for the fact that it seemed somewhat complete. It could have had more polish, but it was good.

To improve this game, I would start by increasing the resolution. What was used? Seemed grainy, like 320 res. Other than that, I'm not sure what I would do to the game. Maybe a variety of levels.

BallerSchaf - Sheep of Death by Balooga03

This game is not too bad, but it is pretty repetitive. Unfortunately I don't hav esound running yet, so I can't experience any cool sheep screams of death or something. :( I game gameplay a 2 for the repetitiveness. I gave fun a 3 because I am entertained by running over sheep, especially while driving backwardly :).

I gave grahpics a 4, and thought about 5. The fast, nice rotatino of the tank was impressive. This also contributed to the Technical score, which is 4. Because this was the only super-impressive technical display, I stayed at that. Full-screen scrolling is good, too.

I have gameplay a 3 because while there is a lot of destructin (of sheep), there is no construction. 2.5 rounds up to 3 in my gradebook. I gave the cosmetic a 5 because it's full of sheep, which was something like the cosmetic theme....

I gave completeness a 3 because, though it is complete, there isn't quite enough substance. I tell ya what, I'm upping it to a 4, because it was complete for what it was. It's still missing something, but it's pretty complete now that I think about it.

To improve this game, I would start by better differentiating which sheep you are and aren't supposed to kill; it's hard to tell. Then I would add a lot more weapons, very damaging ones. Then I would add to the physics of the tank so you could slide through turns and lay out massive herds of sheep. ha ha ha!!! That would be most cool indeed. :)

A good offering on the whole.

Attack Sheep by Zaphos

I agree with all of the others who have mentioned what a great idea this game has. I think it is a game that definitely should be continued.

I have gameplay innov a 4 because it is very innovative. The fun got a 3 because it was kind of fun, but frustrating. Hard to tell exactly how the robot is going to work for me. Sound n/a. The technical got a 3 because it was all right, but it needs more work. More time, actually.

Gameplay theme got a 5 because it had construction (very well-done, more like construction than most other games), and you destroyed sheep. Cosmetic got a 5 because, well, there were sheep.

Completeness I gave a 2. There was only one level, and the help screen crashed you. With more work, this game could be really good. More tools for your robot, better robot function, more levels, etc... these things could make for a great game. Hope you keep working on it.

Sammy The Sheep by Tybal

This is an okay game, but it's pretty repetitive.

I have innovation a 2 because there's nothing too innovative here. That's how I'm interpreting the definition of innovation; before it was just gameplay, til like today.

Fun I gave a 3. It's all right, but it never ends... that's a bummer. Graphics are all right. Moving lava would have been cool; I thought (from the looks of screenshots) that you had moving lava or fire or something, like a demo used in a game. Technical had a 3 because it was 'ok.'

I gave theme a 3 because there was construction and destruction. Cosmetic got a 5 because the main character is a sheep. Completeness had a 3. The level (singular) never ends, and it pretty repetitive. There is no menu / title screen of any sort. The controls are somewhat unintuitive.

To improve this game, I'd add a couple of more moves for the sheep, add more enemies, get rid of the random level generation (if that's what it is) and design good, challenging levels.

Not too bad, but could use some more work.

Sheep Dome by LordCovenant

I had a hard time with this game. It was very hard to control for me. The display was not rectangular, either. Like an outward pincushion effect. Strange.

I gave fun a 2 because I just coulnd't much do anything. I shot some stuff and the blocks formed. Jump made you jump all the way to the top, apparently. The mouse sensitivity was difficult.

I gave graphics a 4 primarily for the intro screens, which were well-done. I gave sound a 4 because it had bg music that wasn't too bad. Gameplay theme got a 3 because there seemed to be construction, but no real destruction. Hope I didn't miss something big there. Cosmetic got a 5 because there's a sheep in it.

I gave completeness a 3; it doesn't seem complete. The controls need major work and, as is noted in the game, the enemy AI isn't there.
