Impossible

This game could have been really cool if it was finished. Some other things, the controls aren't "standard fps controls." Standard fps controls are WASD for movement, space for jumping and non-inverted mouse. Regardless of it being unfinished it's very cool to see an fps in the 48 hour compo. I may go for an fps next time, even though it will probably be even less finished than this entry.

I'd say this project was a bit over-ambituos for just two days of coding, but I would definitely urge you to finish it, I like holomatch-style games and this looks promising. The controls need some fixing (mouse-sensitivity and jumping were too high).

MattB

I tried the normal (with sound) version in the no sound fix, and it worked and played sound too. The game isn't really a game yet, but the building thing already feels good; it just seems so cool to be falling, shoot down, and catch yourself with a platform. Same for destroying platforms. I can just see a whole cube filled with tunnels and bridges of platforms and then just blasting through it. Sadly, there is no future potentional category, so I had to rate down on most...

I had a hard time with this game. It was very hard to control for me. The display was not rectangular, either. Like an outward pincushion effect. Strange.

I gave fun a 2 because I just coulnd't much do anything. I shot some stuff and the blocks formed. Jump made you jump all the way to the top, apparently. The mouse sensitivity was difficult.

I gave graphics a 4 primarily for the intro screens, which were well-done. I gave sound a 4 because it had bg music that wasn't too bad. Gameplay theme got a 3 because there seemed to be construction, but no real destruction. Hope I didn't miss something big there. Cosmetic got a 5 because there's a sheep in it.

I gave completeness a 3; it doesn't seem complete. The controls need major work and, as is noted in the game, the enemy AI isn't there.

Jamul

Strangely enough, the no-sound version didn't work (at all, not even the intro), but once I had installed it, the sound version DID (maybe because I had run the other version first? Whatever!).

It's really not playable, because the mouselook is INSANE (and capable of looking straight down or straight up, which is too far, makes you feel like a magical floating sphere), and of course lots of stuff either doesn't work right or isn't implemented (and it crashed out eventually, when I was firing the machine gun too much - I think there's a problem with the machine gun explosions, they slowed the game to a crawl when close up, and crashed it that one time). But, the overall technology, though it's as broken as the first release of Anarchy Online, is also really impressive. It's a full fledged 3D shooter, with the ability to create floating platforms as you go. I even got to shoot out the platform from under my opponent (too bad I couldn't also hurt him). I think this could be made into a complete game that would be really fun, played online like UT, people frantically making and destroying platforms and shooting at each other.

So it's simultaneously a fairly weak entry (very incomplete and broken, very bad controls), and a very impressive one (great potential, impressive technical achievement, lots of different items and sounds, great music- best of compo in music I think). Time to come up with some scores...

LordCovenant

Ok, this is my scores for my game, and I'll explain them all, so people can understand why I vote the way I do:
Completeness: 1, because the game isn't complete in the game sense, although it already has some features that would be necessary in a complete version...
Cosmetic theme: 2. As I already explained in some thread, my idea of the cosmetic theme is doing the best to exploit the cosmetic theme itself... For example, if I used a shear-thrower instead of a machine-gun, that would raise this score to a 3... As it stands, the game only has a sheep because I HAD to put it there...
Gameplay Theme: 4... It had construction (you could build platforms), and it had destructions (you could destroy the enemies platforms, although there's a flag in the level config that you can set to allow total destruction of platforms, and even some set elements, that didn't make it to the final version).
Technical: 3, because it's a hard game to make in 48h, and if it had AI, I would rate it a 4... It has lots of difficult stuff to make...
Sound: 4... I really like the sound, from the satanic sheep bah to the soundtrack of the game... I think it had the longest background music of the compo... Look, ma, no keyboards! :)
Graphics: 2... They're blocks, and the sheep don't look that nice, and they're missing the weapons! And the powerups are just basic primitives...
Fun: 1... You really can't judge a game that doesn't play... I just don't give it a N/A because... er... because you can play... Sort of...
Gameplay Innovation: 4... I think it was the first time someone did an FPS that allowed you to construct... Destruction was already covered by Red Faction, for instance...
Overall: 1... This isn't a game, it's more of a proof of concept or a tech demo...

And to comment on some comments, thank you all for taking the time to vote, and so generously... Too generously, IMHO, but you have your own systems, I guess... And if everybody got his systems, it all evens out at the end... I hope, or else I'll get a lynch mob on my house! :)

Needs a lot of little tweaks to feel right. It said "use standard fps keys".. that's WASD!! Which didn't work, but yeah I found the arrow keys.

The making platforms by shooting and holding down the button is very innovative.

I thought the sounds were great!

Lowered tech score because of repeated crashes.

Thenend

Too ambitious for a 48h contest, isn't it. I hope you will finish it. Can turn up to be a great multi player game. You are going the right way.

jovoc

I think this would be really fun, but it's hard to tell because it's so incomplete. It was kind of like playing in an aquarium. I hope you finish this, though, could be really cool.

Jolle

It good to see that someone tried to do a fps, but this one have much work left.
And the standard fps controls nowdays are not the arrowskeys and inverted mouse :/
I also fell through the floor once and the game crash when closing
