Apr 29 23:03:00 QMD XML.lua:66: bad argument #1 to 'find' (string expected, got nil).
Apr 29 23:16:00 13m 00s World of Minimalism Very cool! This is a good take on the theme and I had fun adding to the world; I hope others do too. <br/> <br/>I had hoped for some kind of interaction other than a huge canvas. But I wish there were more games like this one. :) <br/> <br/>LOTS of bugs in the compo version!
Apr 29 23:23:00 7m 00s Type|FACE I love typing games, probably because I rarely feel like I have some natural skill going into a game. <br/> <br/>This was a good execution, though the difficulty curve is a little off (it goes to pretty ridiculous quickly, and then just ends?). Note that the recognizability of a word is almost as important as its length in typing speed. Using some kind of term frequency weighting for difficulty would improve it. <br/> <br/>High score 45 words!
Apr 29 23:44:00 21m 00s Minimalistic Color Labyrinth I beat it, though I confess I didn't really figure out the rules. By the end I understood how to avoid getting stuck at least and then it was just exploration. :)
Apr 30 00:31:00 47m 00s Omega I got 11/13 dots and did win, but the controls kind of kill it! It took me a long time to realize that the grapple is some atan2 stuff and not like clicking on the wall where I want to go. I got pretty good at flinging myself around, but I was trying over and over to get across the hangy spikes on the ceiling and the game crashed on me? I also know what to do to get the potato but it's just so hard to execute. :( <br/> <br/>Nice music!
May 1 01:39:00 25h 08m Title: Subtitle Nice idea and nice scope. I've seen games with stuff made out of words for sure, but this one is funnier (I liked the escalation of descriptiveness as the game went on) and fit the theme well. I wish it supported arrow keys as well as WASD so I didn't have to play with my left hand. The difficulty curve was good. Was crying out for a wall marked "secretsecretsecret"!
May 1 01:46:00 7m 00s Patty's Perilous Plunder Looks like this has to have java installed in the path?
May 1 01:51:00 5m 00s Occam's Razor Wow, this game is a trip. I particularly like the death music. I didn't find there to be much logic to the choices, though, so it was mostly trial and error, and mercifully short!
May 1 01:57:00 6m 00s Project Status: Abandoned Works ok for me! Boy is that gravity strong! :) <br/>You should make your own kind of music, but my advice on platformer physics: keep (x, y) coordinates and (dx, dy) velocity. Every frame update dy += 0.5 or something to simulate gravity. Left and right arrow keys just add or subtract from dx, staying within some max velocity limits. Jumping just sets dy += 10 (or whatever) if on the ground.
May 1 02:07:00 10m 00s They're Multiplying! What a good idea, like a sort of inverse Dr. Mario. The first time I played I didn't realize I could rotate the bunnies and I thought the point was to match them up. That was pretty easy but I quickly got overrun and died with a score of 2643. After reading the instructions I still didn't do that much better though: I still got overrun and finished with 4407 points. I guess that's what happens with rabbits.
May 1 02:14:00 7m 00s Unfalling Star I think it's pretty good, especially for a first game! The thing that was weirdest for me was how my clicking produced a small local effect of "unfalling", but the star was moved by my absolute mouse position -- it was hard to wrap my head around those two simultaneously, and I kept crashing. Also, if I crashed a lot, the game started to get really slow. I think there might be some kind of leak?
May 1 23:04:00 20h 50m Telekinetic Minimalist Cult 5: Packrat Nightmare Funny! It was fun throwing all of my stuff in the street and watching cars run into it, but I never had any success selling objects? So only got to see losing endings!
May 1 23:08:00 4m 00s Bezier Challenge Neat game! The physics are good, the graphics are smooth, and I've never quite played one like this before. I got stuck on level 4 though. :(
May 1 23:12:00 4m 00s Conveyor I found it difficult mainly because I didn't have much control over my jump (would be nice to do a light tap to jump short obstacles), but I guess maybe that is part of the point. Plays smooth. High score 3382!
May 1 23:19:00 7m 00s Rect I did get a few levels in, but I had trouble understanding why the items would appear sometimes and not other times. Was it a matter of the specific order I collect them in? Also, a hint that "R" restarts would have been useful in the instructions! :)
May 1 23:26:00 7m 00s pigMINt This is very cool! The first play I didn't understand how to change my color, but the next time I got it and felt that it was a good puzzle. Nice instructions screen. The procedural music sounds great, and the concept is very creative. One flaw is that there doesn't seem to be any disadvantage to shooting loads of squares all of the time of various different colors. So mostly when I played I just did that. <br/>High score: L6 160 points!
May 2 01:15:00 1h 49m Gods Will Be Watching Wow, the graphics and sound are perfect. I think there may be some good depth to the game, but after 4 tries I was frustrated with dying unexpectedly from this or that. Really top notch, though, glad this is a jam so I don't have to compete with it. :)
May 2 01:33:00 18m 00s Samus Regrets Wow, what a great idea! The implementation is impressively complete too, covering most of the 2d metroid weapons (But no Shinespark?!? :)), and appropriate but I think legal graphics. The flaw I think is with the difficulty -- the game doesn't do much to lead you to a solution and it's too easy to get stuck without making a map and a plan, which isn't that fun. :) I think I visited almost everything in the map! One of my favorites so far.
May 2 02:17:00 44m 00s One Crate Sokoban In The Dark Well, I guess I should have known what I was getting myself into from the title. :) I wish it at least had said something when I succeeded!
May 2 02:58:00 41m 00s Tower I AM WINNER! <br/>I thought it played pretty tight and it was a good length. :) It almost seems like I might be able to jump over the castle at the beginning -- is it possible? Hidden potato??
May 2 03:12:00 14m 00s Four Scepters This is super good! It really fits the minimal rogue-like theme, but unlike other "minified" games it's just just crapified -- the graphics are perfect and the game actually has impressive puzzle play and a great mood. One of my favorites so far.
May 2 03:24:00 12m 00s F*** This Job This was good for a one-button game. The controls felt pretty tight and I liked the replay, though it was often hard to distinguish it from a level beginning, which sometimes meant I either jumped and skipped it, or died right away. :) I got pretty far but did grow tired of it -- a progress indicator of some sort would have been motivating! Good job!
May 3 12:46:00 33h 22m TOWLDR Nice. I do think it needs a bit more to hook the player at the beginning, especially with a theme like this where many games are actually just press Y to win. Good name, too. :) I got cake!
May 3 13:05:00 19m 00s Tune Locks I could do it but only by whistling the door note. It's a good idea and I haven't played a game quite like it, though the jetpack physics detracted a bit. I think it would have been better with fewer levels but some kind of winning condition; I beat all the levels but then it just wrapped around?
May 3 17:18:00 4h 13m Shape Catcher Great graphics! I only sort of understood what was going on -- needs more feedback in the game! :)
May 3 18:00:00 42m 00s austerity I liked it. A good, satisfying abstract question &amp; answer game.
May 3 18:34:00 34m 00s Fractured Excellent graphics and sound! I love it! The game itself is creative, though I found the button-based stuff frustrating because there was no indication of what buttons went with what door.
May 3 19:43:00 1h 09m hunter hungry I loved the shooting mechanic, it felt perfect. Catching all the rabbits was fun, but I didn't enjoy bringing them back to my kids, and then when I got them all, we started on a hike forever? It looks like the end but I can still hold right to go back into the cave, then some weird noises happen? Seems like a bug...
May 3 19:53:00 10m 00s A Game of Boxes I liked the graphical style. The controls felt a little stiff (integer-only physics?) especially on the wall-jump level, but I did beat it! :)
May 3 20:01:00 8m 00s Balls This was an interesting idea. I got frustrated on the 6th level or so when I had a solution where the balls were hitting all of the squares, but the last square wasn't lighting up. Maybe a bug, maybe I just didn't understand. The sine waves have clicks at the beginnings and end, probably because you need to fade in and fade out rather than start in the middle of the waveform! Neat game, though.
May 3 20:19:00 18m 00s climbing 208 feet up the ruin wall This is good. It can only hang together on the strength of its writing, which it does. There were some minor graphical glitches (redrawing when climbing higher) that were a little distracting. I liked and identified with the story, especially the part about peeing my pants.
May 3 21:32:00 1h 13m Nothing is Impossible I like this much better than most jumpy-dodge games! It's an interesting interaction between the two characters, especially when one lands on a SAFE brick. I found it really hard, though. I didn't get that far and I was confused about why the levels would change; are they random?
May 3 21:38:00 6m 00s Multiplied Screens Lovely. Graphical style reminded me of Hundreds, in a good way. The audio is super too. I think the compo version is too hard, but I tried the jam version too and it is much more fun. :)
May 3 21:43:00 5m 00s Less Very interesting! I liked how my choices produced meaningful text, and I had a lot of freedom. Found a few different endings. Good job!
May 4 01:01:00 3h 18m Tubulance This is a really good arcade game, and I totally get both F-Zero and (obviously) Super Hexagon. Some of the random waves are much harder than others, at least to me, so my progress was mostly based on which ones showed up. Also, I spent most of my time squinting at the center of the screen, wishing there was more detail there. But very polished and very fun. My high score was a measly 30372!
May 4 01:08:00 7m 00s Minigames Octacade Excellent! Perfect for my short attention span. I enjoyed being taken back to the golden days for some of these, though "axis invaders" is a new idea to me and deserves more exploration! Really good entry.
May 4 02:40:00 1h 32m Only a Keyboard I like this one, more than usual for this genre. The graphical style and sound are great. I got stuck at MINIM though. I feel like I understand what it's asking, but since nothing works, I guess not!
May 4 13:40:00 11h 00m Block Hat site's down? :(
May 4 13:47:00 7m 00s Truth Only I like the character models a lot, and it plays smooth. I got to the second level, but it's just so cruel without an option for inverted mouse, for old-timers like me!
May 4 13:52:00 5m 00s Super Neo Tektropolis Graphics are superb! The physics are a little stiff (integer-only?) and the level generation often gets me stuck climbing "up", so I have to jump into the blind, which is just a matter of luck whether I'm hit by an off-screen bullet or crab thing. My high score: Measly 4 orbs!
May 4 14:06:00 14m 00s Guiding Light This is cool. The atmosphere it creates (especially with the sound effects) is compelling. I beat the first dark level, but it's a bit too tedious to make my way through lots of mazes in the dark, mainly cuz I have to keep waiting for the lightning to figure out where I am and where I can go. It would be nice if the scan feature gave me at least some local view of what walls were near.
May 4 20:14:00 6h 08m Super 3D BlockLand Good! I was initially going to complain that this is NOT 3D but then I understood. :) I thought that was pretty clever and the level design was very good -- some a-ha moments and the game is careful not to get you stuck. Nice. My best times were not good (lots of retrying!): <br/> <br/>1) 0:26.23 <br/>2) 0:44.31 <br/>3) 2:59.52 <br/>4) 2:31.07 <br/>5) 5:31.22
May 4 20:22:00 8m 00s ALPHBT Nice idea and implementation. I like the way it taught me the rules as part of the game. I was sad that it ended just as I felt I understood what was going on -- it badly needs a level or two that show off the puzzle possibilities. Good, though!
May 6 00:13:00 27h 51m Gallery Nice one! I especially like the puzzle design and progression, but the graphics and the general mood are pretty great too. Downside for me was how uncomfortably close the cube was to the similar character in Fez. Very good entry, though!
May 6 00:22:00 9m 00s Mandala Excellent idea! The world is almost gone for me, but I guess that's part of the point. :)
May 6 00:23:00 1m 00s Jumper Did not work for me :(
May 6 00:51:00 28m 00s Stargazers Very slick, even with the gallery and everything. It was a good challenge to remember the drawing, though not that hard to find the right stars in the sky. Length was right. Enjoyed it!
May 6 01:00:00 9m 00s App Escape Cute ending!!
May 6 01:14:00 14m 00s Pictor I liked the graphics in this a lot. The controls were pretty stiff and it was hard to find out what parts of the environment were climbable, but I appreciated that I moved quickly, at least. :) I think I got all the graffiti, but then it just pointed left and I couldn't figure out whether there was anything left to do? Did I win? :)
May 6 01:22:00 8m 00s 20 Seconds 14 achievements, but I didn't understand the waiting game!
May 6 01:42:00 20m 00s TOOM I love the graphics. They're perfect. The game was hard to follow... I didn't understand why objects went together and it just became an n^2 hunt. I thought it was going to be that the hyper tube is a cloning machine and you kill and eat your clone and save his head for later! THAT WOULD BE DARK
May 7 00:06:00 22h 24m The Game Without Controls OMG, I love it. It reminds me of my favorite episode of MacGyver ("Hell Week") and it was a joy to figure out.
May 11 14:32:00 110h 26m Mondrianism Very good. It's a clever setup and the graphics and sound effects are lovely. The puzzles themselves were very easy; I think you could have done some good stuff with some small constrained levels. Take on the theme was just right. Beat all the levels!
May 11 15:50:00 1h 18m When All You Have Is A Hammer All Your Problem Start To Look Like Nails This is a really good puzzle game! The level design is very sound. The controls are good, but I needed a hint to figure out the early level where I could jump up two spaces... I wish there had been more in-game to help with that idea. Very nice. <br/> <br/>It crashed for me on the slinky level after I threw a hammer off and followed it down then hit esc. :(
May 12 02:54:00 11h 04m SPACE JAMZ This was fun! I spent a lot of time intentionally triggering the "bad note" sound since it was my favorite one. Kinda makes me wish I had more sounds to play with.
May 12 02:58:00 4m 00s Jumpers' Dilemma I like the concept a lot. The ragdoll physics are hilarious, which is important, because I never survived a single jump, even when my opponent chose to not jump.
May 12 13:45:00 10h 47m Obstacle Course This was good for a quick jam. I found the controls unintuitive because moving would only sometimes scroll and sometimes rotate, because my position relative to the mouse changed. Once I got past that, it was navigable, though rotation was usually my enemy! I got past the second set of rotating Xs and then died in that tiny corridor. No checkpoints?
May 12 13:49:00 4m 00s One Blocky Room Loved the music. As soon as the cloud made me rotate I got excited that the game was going to be pretty complex, all in that room. Alas, that was almost the end. It would have been cool if I had to play it in every direction or something! I had a lot of fun in the short game anyway. Boy can I jump high!
May 12 13:56:00 7m 00s The Epic Journey of the Narcoleptic Cyber Kitten: Floppy Disk Deluxe Man, I can't get past the third level. I must be missing something! Neat concept and cool eye-blasting graphics, though...
May 12 16:23:00 2h 27m Pale Brown Dot I love: What happens when you stand on bunnies, and riding birds everywhere. I got stuck in the second level because the bunny clogged up the only way to the powerup, and then died when I sapped enough rose bushes. :(
May 12 18:02:00 1h 39m Tessitron Very good! I'm impressed with the smoothness of the game given that it's in the browser. Love the music, though on my first playthrough it stopped abruptly after a minute or so. The best part was how it'd repeat motifs after I succeeded at them. I didn't beat the boss yet, though I did survive him.
May 12 23:25:00 5h 23m Antichromatic This was good! The timing on the jumps were often very hard, which I liked, though I disliked having to use my left hand for everything. Those turrets were quite annoying and I think I had to kill them in three universes before they stopped shooting, which I didn't understand. I got the red and blue shards, but then I was in some room where I died and kept respawning in the same place as a monster -- there was nothing I could do; I just kept respawning over and over. That was sad because I did want to finish it, though I don't really want to beat some of those jumps and turrets again!
May 18 21:45:00 142h 20m Budget Squad Really good, as usual. :) I thought the two-sub idea was clever, and it was fun, though when I accidentally died, I didn't really want to start all over! Graphics are fantastic.
May 18 21:51:00 6m 00s RKT I liked this one a lot. The music is excellent, and the graphical style hangs together very well. My favorite part was the ships stuck in some of the walls, and how sometimes multiple gates would rise and fall at a single key. My high score was 58 after 2 tries. :)
